A Western Doctor’s Happy Farming Life[1] 167

A+ A-

The winner of the first bid didn’t get any strange movements as soon as the result was announced. And Shuluo came to praise with envy, “What a wealthy man he is, it seems that he still wants to bid more even he just made a hundred-golden-coins deal!”

Song Qinghan remained his calmness there without any expression, because he definitely knew the fact that money indeed reined anywhere and any time.

The auction was still on. When the second item appeared, Song Qinghan didn’t get any exaggerated expressions at all. Yet after the man on stage made a detailed introduction about it, he couldn’t help opened his mouth slightly while his eyes were filled with astonishment.

“Everyone of you must have known the fact that the Northern minority nationalities intruded our territory. And the second item is nothing else but the distribution map of the Yueya Tribe. Well, I don’t think I need to explain more about such a gadget and you should know the meaning of it, right? Now, start bidding. The basic price of it is two hundred golden coins!”

There was a slight commotion at the scene. It seemed that everyone had a relatively large dispute about this auction item. However, no one dared to speak out to express their inquiry now after the misery of that man.

Shu Luo rolled her eyes and when he noticed that all the men in black were blocked by the other people, he slowly approached to Song Qinghan and whispered, “That must be their tactic to make the silver snake as the first item. In that case, no one dares to inquire of anything more. Furthermore, it’s impossible for them to prove authenticity of that map.”

Song Qinghan shared the same thought with him, so he didn’t bother to say something in retort. After a while of silence, he raised his head to stare at the second floor thoughtfully.

If Shuluo did not get his eyes blurred just then, there should be a ‘barbarian’ right now on the second floor. Would this ‘barbarian’… attempt to acquire this map?

Or, maybe he came here just for the map!?

However, if that was the case, it was enough to show that the owner of the auction arena did get a great power himself. He was even able to get a map which was difficult for the ‘barbarians’ themselves to acquire.

After the discussion subsided, the bidding officially started. Unlike the last round, the number of bidders in this round had obviously increased.

If the map was a real map revealing the authentic situation of the ‘barbarians’, it was not only beneficial to the ‘barbarians’ themselves, but also to the residents in Qingmu Region.

In a smaller picture, owning this map meant a chance to get a position or promotion in official state. On the other hand in a bigger picture, probably this map would be the most crucial key to reverse the current situation of the war, which meant that he who got the map would totally control the destinies of both sides and thus managed to gain more benefits from it.

Song Qinghan sighed softly and shook his head inexplicably.

He wasn’t inflexible to think that one needed to hand such a fate-of-country-related gadget to the country instead of giving it to the outsiders. After all, who suffered the most from the war were indeed the commoners, and as the time went by, the auction would be forced to shut down either without the support of a integrate country. Moreover, all the wealthy bidders who frequently visited here would conceive of a life of being a fugitive.

Shu Luo didn’t think so deeply like Song Qinghan did. Instead, he just stared at those bidders with his pair of envious eyes, and then he mumbled, “If someone who nurses an evil ambition gets it, will the world be divided into three parts in the future?”

Although his words sounded a bit beyond rationality, it was still a bit reasonable.

Although the recruitment and casting of weapons would take a while to be arranged, who knew if someone in this world had been secretly prepared? As long as they were given a chance, probably they were capable of making this world the one of disturbance.

Well, that was actually a big and remote picture for Song Qinghan currently. What he earnestly wanted now was to make a smooth life himself and guarded his beloved ones and family. And it would be perfecter if he was allowed to acquire more knowledge about the medicine knowledge with that prerequisite.

The bid continued to rise, and the current price had already surged up to five hundred golden coins. Five hundred golden coins! What a shocking number as for Song Qinghan! And yet, it was still increasing.

Probably there would be a protesting uproar held by the residents outside the city against such an extravagance and waste which the noble did if the hidden auction once leaked out.

Because the poor was still fighting against each other for half a bun outside the city. On the contrary, here the rich wasted their money on such a ‘price competition’. That was totally unfair.

Just as Song Qinghan thought that this round of bidding would continue for a while, a man in black quietly walked up the stage and whispered something in the ear of the man on stage.

The man on stage smiled again and uttered aloud, “One Childe among you complained that he can’t wait no more, so he offered a price at one thousand golden coins. Well, if any of you still want this map, welcome to keep on bidding at the basic price of one thousand.”

A shocking silence fell on the scene for a long while after that.

Five hundred golden coins were totally a far cry from one thousand ones, and it was not simply a matter of one-time-higher. It seemed that this guy who offered such a price had already took out all his counters in order to win this term of bid.

Noticing that no one raised hands again, the man on stage finally announced again while he didn’t want to waste more times, “Alright then, this item will go to the Childe who offered the price of one thousand golden coins.”

What was different from the other round was that the moment the man on stage finished his words, the man in black led the man wearing black veil to walk outwards directly.

Song Qinghan raised his eyebrows. Wasn’t that one someone called ‘the shopkeeper of the Zhenbao Shop’ Shuluo had just mentioned? And Shuluo did mention that this guy was coming for one treasure, it was totally beyond his expectation that he would just leave after he got the map.

Even queerer, some guys acting furtively rose at the same time the shopkeeper of the Zhenbao Shop stepped out the arena, and then they walked outward seemingly following the lead.

Yet, the man on stage delivered a wry smile at the moment these guys almost reached the gate, “Didn’t I make all the rules clear enough? Or, should it be that you don’t take my words at all?”

“Someone! Take them!”

After the man on stage made such an order, several men in black emerged in a dark shadow, and each of them approached and suppressed one by the arms, and then took them all to the backstage.

Screams and shouts in pain sounded all of a sudden at the moment they disappeared on stage. It was rather horrible sound which made the rest of the audiences who heard it shiver.

No one knew if those guys were still alive or not as the screams finally came to an abrupt end.

Yet it seemed to be quite effective to be a warning to the rest of the audiences: He who attempted to break the rule would get no good end.

Song Qinghan himself actually had got a guess himself in his mind, yet he thought it was unnecessary to tell anyone.

If those people were really killed by a violent punishment, their screams would not be so full of vitality. From their voices of screams, it could be predicted that they just received some sufferings of the body for not being obedient to the rules.

Regardless of whether his guess was true or not, this idea made Song Qinghan feel much better.

If they really wanted to kill someone without mercy, the auction would be too much brutal. Not to mention anything else, just the revenge from those people’s families would be enough for the auction.

The auction was still on, yet Song Qinghan had already lost his interest.

Knowing too much was not a good thing at all, especially when everything he owned, power or wealth, still didn’t match such a rich auction event.

Although he didn’t need to show any proof when he came in, but what if he was recognized as someone who didn’t belong here?
