Arthit’s POV
“KONGPOB!!”
He quickly walked out of the room while laughing.
He could really bring out all the emotions in me, all the negative one at that.
I took a deep breath to calm myself down.
After pulling myself together, I walked out of the room to start the preparation for today’s tryout.
I was glad when I did not see him around in the court the entire morning.
Some freshmen arrived and warming up for the practice game.
There were plenty of them.
Some seniors were cheerfully assisting them with the registration.
I noticed Kong’s boyfriend, M, walking in.
Boyfriend?
Wait.
What?
He’s in a relationship with Sahit.
Maybe, I must have misinterpreted it.
Yes.
Nonetheless, I was actually looking forward to see how he plays because I’ll surely have a glimpse of how Kong plays.
I am certain they play together.
Thinking of the favor he might asked me if he did win, of course, I won’t let him.
It cringes me.
I am pretty sure he is up to no good.
He is always up to no good so it won’t be a surprise anymore.
So far, he was always good at coming up with ideas on how to annoy me.
I hate to admit but they are working most of the time.
What can I do?
The man has a talent for it.
I smiled sardonically at the thought.
I am pretty sure he got something up his sleeves this time around.
So I have to do exceptionally well like I always do.
On the other hand, I was surprised Kong wasn’t with him. I shrugged out at the thought.
We started the tryout.
We all have them participate in a practice game to thoroughly checked each of their skills.
Some were good.
Some were agitated during the game.
They might be very nervous.
It is understandable though.
Nevertheless, I was happy with the result.
We were able to get a lot of prospects.
So this is a success.
M did exceptionally good as well.
He is a good team player.
His passing was good.
His shooting wasn’t shown that much today but he was a good point guard.
Despite of his height, he was quick.
It could be nice for our plan to change our offense and defense strategy.
I saw Prem walked towards him. “Nice game, M.”
“Thank you, ” and continued to run the towel on his sweating body.
“Where is Kong? ” he asked.
“The last time we talked he said he was off to the canteen but he assured me, he will be here on time. ” he answered. “He might be here any minute now, ” he told Prem.
I saw him scanned the gym then grin broadly. “Speaking of the devil, ” he pouted to point the entrance of the gym.
I looked at the direction where he was pointing.
There I saw Kong entering, I was surprised when my heart pounded.
It reacted when I saw him.
He is with a beautiful woman.
A little bit shorter than him.
They were chatting.
The woman laughed at what Kongpob said then hit his shoulder lightly.
Kong wreathed in smiles.
They stopped and looked around as if looking for something or maybe someone.
He waved at M whom he had spotted at once.
I didn’t notice my brow was creasing until I straightened it out.
What is happening to me?
He handed the bottled water to her and whispered something.
The woman looked at me then flashed me a sly smile.
I didn’t know whether to smile back or not.
What wrong with her?
I pretended not to notice her in the end.
She then started to walk her way to M.
I followed her with a glance.
I saw her gave a bottle of water to him which the latter took immediately.
M smiled brightly. His lips formed a word “thank you”.
I thought Kongpob would follow suit but when my eyes looked for him.
He was walking his way up to me instead.
“I’m sorry, I went somewhere important. Were you looking for me? ” he asked.
The amusement was on his eyes.
I didn’t know I was holding my breath until I gasped to answer him. “As if, ” there I was again, unable to control my emotions.
I was known to be a calm player.
I can play well under pressure but with him, my boiling point just exceeds to its limitation.
He looked at his watch. “Have you eaten? ” there was a tone of concern in his question.
“It’s none of your business, ” I snickered.
“Tsk. Tsk. Wrong answer. “
I bit my lips.
“If I win you come and eat with me. ” he said.
I was flustered. “That’s the favor you wanted to ask for the game? ” I retorted quickly. “So shallow, ” I teased.
“I know, ” he showed a tight-lipped smile.
“Then why? “
“Just because,” he shrugged his shoulders. “so you don’t trust your skill well enough then? ” that was the last straw.
I hate it when my skill as a player was being questioned or mocked.
“I do, ” I muttered. “So don’t cry when you lose later. “
“Then give it your all or maybe not, it would be nice too. “
“No way, ” I said angrily.
“Then you don’t have to worry about it.” he was provoking me and I admit it was working.
“Call, if I win prepare yourself for hell. ” I gritted my teeth.
He walked up close to me. “I won’t think of it as hell though,”
I was bothered by our close proximity.
So I didn’t notice when he grabbed my hand.
I wasn’t able to react quickly.
“If it’s with you. ” he whispered then left.
I felt something heavy in my hand.
When I shifted my gaze down to look at it.
There was a take out food and a bottled water in a clear plastic bag.
“Eat well, ” I heard him said.
As if he knew I was staring at him, he waved without looking back.
Yes, he infuriates me.
But I must admit, it warms my heart.
I was utterly touched by this.
