“What do you mean ‘We’re going to London’?” I raise a brow at my dad.
“That’s exactly what I mean, Liam. The Alphas are required to have an annual meeting together. I usually go alone, I know, but Arina and Cameron are taking over my position really soon and I need them to get used to this. Plus it will be a great chance at finding your mate.”
I stand up and begin to walk out of his office. “I don’t want a mate.”
“You don’t mean that.”
“Yes I do.”
“You’re going, Liam. Whether you like it or not. I recommend you start packing.”
I slam the door.
———
Soon enough, I was in London with my family and Kyles family.
“And here are your room keys. Have a great night.” The hotel receptionist handed everyone their own room keys besides mine.
“Uh, I had a spare room?” I hesitantly ask.
“Oh! I’m so sorry, I forgot to mention that something went wrong with your room and you need to share with whoever has room 1682.”
I just nod in understanding and look around at everyone. “Alright, who has room 1682? I’m sharing with you apparently.”
They all look down at their cards and Easton raises his hand. “We do! You can take the spare bed.”
Great.
———
I set my stuff down on the bed closest to the door.
“I’m going out.” I make my way towards the door.
“Already? You just got here?” I hear Kyle.
I roll my eyes and close the door behind me, making sure I have a keycard with me.
I make my way to the elevator, and just as it’s about to close, someone stops it with their hand so it opens back up again.
I sigh and look away from Kyle.
I wait awkwardly as the elevator goes down, playing the stupid music it’s known for.
The door opens and I rush out. “Liam, wait.” I hear Kyle call after me.
I quickly walk through the crowd of the crowded bar, and outside to the pool.
“Liam, I said wait!” He grabs my shoulder and turns me around.
I just look sadly at him. I can’t do this with him anymore.
“Kyle, I said leave me alone. Your mate needs you back up at the room, so just go.”
“No, I’ve been meaning to talk to you.” He defends.
“Since when do you talk to me?” I snap.
He opens his mouth, but no words come out.
“Just go back to Easton, and go do something with him. You clearly want nothing to do with me.”
“That’s not true.”
“Yes it is!” I practically shout. “You made that very clear in how you sent your letters.”
I’m so glad the music out here by the pool was loud enough that people didn’t seem to be listening at our argument.
“I didn’t want to hurt you if I told you about who Easton really was.” I can feel him getting frustrated.
“Goddess Kyle, I would have been fine if you just told me the truth! Sure it would have hurt, but I would’ve gotten over it and been happy for you, and you know that.”
“Li…” is all Kyle could say.
“Just go back to your room. I’ll ask to share one with Kaydence tonight.”
“I’m not just going to leave you out here.” He told me.
“Just go back to your damn room and your fucking mate and I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me, you’re good at that.”
I turn around and walk away, leaving Kyle.
I walk around for a bit, making sure I lost him if he even tried to follow me.
What I don’t notice is a huge guy in front of me, and he bumps into me.
I fail to notice the feeling I got when our shoulders touched, because I was too busy falling into the pool.
I heard shocked gasps and screams as I awkwardly fell in, and I let the water submerge around me.
I didn’t feel the need to swim back up for air. I just slowly floated down, and watched the party lights reflect off the top of the water.
My eyes close, and I pass out before I can feel someone pulling my body back up for air.
———
I snuggle more into my pillow.
Pillow?
I shoot up out of the bed I’m staying in, in a panic until someone gently holds my shoulders.
“Hey, calm down.” I look up at the man and I’m confused.
He has curly dirty blonde hair, and hazel eyes. His accent was Italian, and he was definitely more muscular than Kyle.
“Who are you? What happened? And where the fuck am I?” I ask after my breathing calmed down.
“My name is Malik, and my alpha accidentally bumped into you and you landed in the pool. He quickly pulled you out once he realized you couldn’t swim. And he brought you back here, to his suite.”
I look around the room and it’s for sure one of the most expensive, if not the most, rooms in the entire hotel.
“He’s at a conference now, but he would like to talk to you once he gets back.” He explained.
For some reason his Italian accent is really soothing, and I’m not sure why.
Wait, did he say conference?
“Shit! The conference!” I jump out of the comfy bed, much to my dismay, and groan when I realize I’m just in boxers.
“Sir I think it’s best if you lay back down.” Malik tries to soothe me.
“No, I have to go to that conference. Shit, where are my clothes?” I look around frantically and start to open up random drawers that held nothing.
“I really suggest you stay?” I hear Malik jump in again. But I rush into the bathroom and scowl.
Well, my hair is curly and I have no time to straighten it.
I spot my clothes in another room across from me, and I quickly grab them.
And of course they’re still wet.
I rush out to Malik.
“Do you have any spare clothes I can wear? Something that will look decent and not whore-ish?”
Malik ponders for a moment and sighs. He nods and leaves the room quickly.
I rush back into the bathroom and try to make my hair look somewhat decent.
“Here you are, sir.” He hands me some clothes. I take them, and thank him.
He leaves the bathroom and I shut the door, giving me privacy to put on what he gave me.
The clothes are slightly big on me, but it’ll work nonetheless. It’s not like I have any other option.
I look around for my shoes and put them on, thanking the goddess that they’re somewhat dry and doable.
I rush out of the bathroom.
“Wait! Sir! What’s your name?” I hear Malik follow me.
“Doesn’t matter, but thank you for your hospitality. I really have to go.”
And with that, I rush out of the suite and to something, or rather someone, I was never expecting.
