I slept in my own room that night. It reminded me of Mag’s office. It made the warm feeling come back every time I looked at it.
But I couldn’t sleep. Every time I tried; I’d wake up only ten minutes later. I rubbed my eyes a little, groaning.Â
“You know what would be great right now? Sleep.” I deadpanned, ignoring the fact I was now talking to myself. Checking the clock on the wall, it read around 1:15 am. I sighed heavily.
Just as my nightmares had begun to go away. I couldn’t sleep.
Propping myself up against the headboard, I yawned a little.Â
“How come, I can yawn, and be tired, but not sleep?” I grumbled, forcing my eyes to stay open. Throwing my blanket off me, I got up on heavy feet, and wandered over to my desk.
Lighting a few candles so I could see a little better, I brought out a sketchbook. I hadn’t sketched that much since I got here.Â
I used to draw quite a bit when I was living with my family. I drew everything they did to me. And more. But that sketchbook was gone now. Half the pages were soaked in blood and tears anyway.
I didn’t want that to happen to this one, too.
I began to feel more awake as I brought out my pencils too. Pondering for a bit, I decided on what I would draw. Smiling a little at the image in my head of what I’d draw, I began.
I didn’t really pay much attention as my pencils and pens flew over the page, and I didn’t need to put all my energy and focus into the drawing. That just came from years of practice. Humming a little tune, I began to add small strokes to the hair.Â
The candle light flickered over the paper, and I let a soft smile onto my face as I watched the people in my drawing come to life.
I think drawing brought me comfort. To see others having fun, being free, and watch them slowly create their own personalities in the drawing. I yawned a little as my pencil left the paper.Â
And I looked down at my drawing. It was in my own drawing style, and I had added a little text to go with it. But you could tell who it was.
You could tell that it was the guys. All of us- smiling. Me, too. I was a little surprised to see that I had added myself in. It wasn’t something I had planned on. But it made the warm feeling come back.Â
Resting back in my chair, I yawned a little, before pushing back the chair, and climbing back into bed.Â
Maybe now I’ll sleep.
Wrong.Â
Even after the wonderful feeling of my eyes finally being able to rest. I couldn’t sleep. Grumbling some more to myself, I blinked with heavy eyelids, before making up my mind. I’ll just go to Colten’s room.Â
Maybe I’ll fall asleep easier. Blowing out the candles, I tidied the bed up, before dragging my feet over to the door. Already groaning at the effort I put my exhausted arm through to open the door, I closed it quietly behind me.
I didn’t bother trying to be quiet as I walked down the dark hall, and I stopped just outside Colten’s room.
Pushing open the door, I blinked sleepily, and went through.
The others were all spread over the couches and beds, and they all seemed to be asleep.Â
“Come on. Not even one person that’s awake.” I mumbled, irritated.
“There’s me.” A low voice mumbled, and I looked over to the far corner. Mags was lying there, his head propped up by a pillow. I tiled my head to the side in confusion.Â
“Why are you up?” I asked him, slowly moving over to where he was.Â
“Mhm. I sometimes find it hard to sleep. You?”
I mumbled a small agreement, before slipping under the covers beside him.
“Why are you so bold tonight? Or- this morning I guess. You’d never you usually come into the same bed,”
I shrugged a little. “I think-” yawning half way through, I continued, “that I’m just too tired to process what’s going on.”
Magnus hummed a little. “Why don’t we both try to sleep now then?”
“Alright.” I murmured sleepily, already beginning to close my eyes. Mags chuckled a little, before snuggling into my back. The warmth flew across my body like a fast wind, and I let out a small hum of appreciation.Â
I heard Magnus yawn a little as I closed my eyes, the welcoming feeling of sleep wash over me. Magnus buried his face into the crook of my neck, and I felt his warm breath slow as he fell asleep.
I yawned once more, before letting dreams overtake me.
As I awoke, my front was warm too. Blinking a little, I glanced down to see Milo’s face buried into my chest. A quite chuckle reverberated across my back, and I turned my head a little to see Magnus looking at me with an amused expression.
“Looks like you’ve got a little friend there, kitten.” He chuckled, and I glared a little, before my attention as brought back to Milo as he snuggled further into me. I stared at him, a little confused.Â
“Mags… what am I supposed to do now?” I asked quietly, and he must have noticed my hesitation, because he didn’t laugh this time.Â
“Right- you didn’t have anything like this, did you…” He trailed.
I shook my head a little. He gave me a warm smile. “That’s okay. Just wrap your arms around him, and pull him in close.”
I gave a small nod, before doing as he said. Milo’s hot breath then began to hit my collarbone, and I leant my head down a little to cover him. Milo pushed himself further into me, and I supposed he liked the closeness.Â
“Am I… am I going good?” I asked hesitantly.
“Yeah.” Magnus breathed. “You’re doing perfectly.” His voice was soft and happy as I closed my eyes again. I hummed a little, before pulling Milo in tight, and steadying my breathing.
“Go back to sleep now. It’s only 4:00,” Magnus murmured, and I nodded
“Good night, Mags. Or good morning. Whichever.”
“Aww. Aren’t they so cute!”
“Riftyn! Shut up!”
“You shut up!”
“Both of you. Stop.”
There was silence after that.
I groaned a little, bringing my hands up to my eyes, and rubbing the sleep away.Â
“Aww.” Riftyn’s voice squealed. “Isn’t he so adorable?”
I felt the warm body in my arms move a little, before jolting a little. Which then made me tense up.
“Ah! Sorry Atlas! I- I didn’t know what I was doing!” The warmth was now gone. I blinked sleepily, and saw Milo now on the other side of the bed.Â
“Where do you think you’re going?” I grumbled, and he slowly crept back towards me. Pulling him back into my arms, I rested my head back, relaxing, before I heard a camera.Â
“What the fuck Riftyn.”
“Please? They’re so cute!”
Arlo’s voice, which had been telling Niko and Riftyn off all morning, shut them both up again.Â
“I thought I told you both to shut up.”
“Sorry. I- I didn’t think you would want me to sleep that- that close to you.” Milo’s soft voice blocked the others’ voices out, and I glanced down at him.Â
“No. You’re okay Lo,- is Lo okay?” I murmured sleepily.
“L- Lo? Of course!” Milo’s voice came out all high pitched, and I opened my eyes a little to see his face all flushed. I chuckled a little. “Cute.”
“Wait- Mags you’re right he is kinda bold- maybe we should keep him tired all the time~”
“Riftyn?”
“Yeah?”
“Shut up.”
I yawned a little at that, before deciding Lo and I should get up. Nudging him a little, I propped myself up against the headboard, Milo still resting on my chest. He looked up at me with wide eyes.Â
“A- are you sure this is okay?”
I nodded a little, an amused expression on my face. I looked around, finally understanding my surroundings. Riftyn and Niko were both kneeling on the bed, furiously typing on their phones- I assumed sending each other the picture they took this morning.Â
Arlo was standing at the end of the bed, arms crossed, and Magnus was reading a book beside me. The others must have gone downstairs.Â
“Alright.” Mags announced. “Since the rest of us are up, let’s go downstairs.”
I heard Milo sigh a little, before yawning myself. “Come on Lo, let’s go downstairs.” I whispered, and he nodded against my chest.Â
Picking myself up off the bed, Milo climbed onto my back, and we followed the others down into the kitchen.
