Why the fuck did I drink so much?
I laid next to toilet, feeling miserable. Alcohol was only fun in the moment. The morning after was hell. Some people were blessed with the ability to not get hung over but sadly that trait skipped me.
Keagan left around an hour ago to check in with his family and to change into nice clothes. Tonight, we have a dinner with the visitors that we saw last night and I’m not excited.
We always have to act all proper and look nice. We have to use table manors and it’s a 3 course thing. It takes around 2 hours and it’s so boring. The only good part is it is a free meal and the food is actually good. I have to cook for myself and it is disastrous. I survive purely off of premade food and chicken and rice. The easiest thing to make.
The worst part of the ordeal however, no phones allowed.
It is hosted in the dining hall at the pack house. There are about 50 different tables around the room that all seat 5 or so. At the front of the room, there is a larger table which seats the Alpha’s family and the visitors.
I lurch forward as I let the last of it out of me and get up. I brush my teeth and look in the mirror, I look tired. I feel tired. This is gonna be such a fun day. Hint the sarcasm.
My blond hair is sticking in all directions and I look like I just got shocked with electricity.
I go to take a shower. The warm water hitting me was relaxing and woke me up a bit. It also washed away the smell of cheap alcohol.
I got out of the shower and put on lounge clothes. I’ll put nice clothes on before I leave.
Today’s going to be a bad day I already feel it.
It was currently 2:00pm and we slept through the whole morning. Keagan was upset he missed training because apparently the visiting Alpha was running it and teaching some skills.
I couldn’t care less because I hate pack training. It’s a whole lot of weight training and muscle building. My body is well-built naturally so why fix something that doesn’t need fixing?
Soccer is the only workout I will do. It’s just a whole lot of running and some skills that I have perfected over time.
Running comes easy to me and I learn fast, so soccer is enjoyable.
My work paid off considering I’m a sophomore on varsity.
Dinner starts at 6:00 so I have 4 hours to do whatever I want, so naturally, I went to my game room to play video games.
Before I knew it, it was 5:30 and Keagan let himself into my house to come get me. I shut down my game system and went upstairs.
I changed into black jeans, a white shirt, and a flannel and slipped on my sneakers. This will have to be good enough.
We walked from my house to the pack house since I lived literally around the corner from it and parking and leaving is a bitch.
We were mixed into the crowd of people arriving and it took us a minute to get through the door and to the dining room.
We found a table near the huge window that viewed the garden outside and sorta towards the back. The table sat 5 so a few of our other friends came to join us.
We sat there and talked until the Alpha entered the room. The room went quiet and everyone turned to watch him walk in, his family and the guests following right after him.
As soon as the visiting Alpha entered the room, his eyes scanned the room and landed on me. I mean, he could’ve been looking at Keagan or Hannalyn who were on either side of me, but he seemed pretty focused on me.
I’m probably wrong but damn it kinda freaked me out.
My inner wolf became restless at the sight of him. That’s odd. He’s usually calm, even around high authority.
As a predicted, the dinner was slow and boring.
I had this burning feeling that I was being stared at. My back was towards the Alpha table and every time I looked back, I locked eyes with the one and only Alpha Lukas.
Alpha Lukas—the Alpha of the Sinclair pack aka one the of highest ranked packs in the United States. They are extremely skilled in combat and defense.
His pack is located up in Maine, with over 3,000 pack members. That’s a lot of people considering an average pack is around 1,000.
They are a pack you want to be on great terms with. They could take our pack down in under an hour and not even break a sweat. His pack is also known for their loyalty, so alliances with him are important.
Every time I made eye contact with him I’d immediately turn back around.
Something burned inside when I looked at him and it was strange and foreign. I’d never felt that way before.
Once when I looked back, not only was he looking at me, so was his Beta and Gamma. Hell, even Alpha Quinn was looking at me sometimes.
What the fuck is up with them.
After a few more times of getting creeped out, I quit looking back. The burning continued but I ignored it.
The dinner was nearly over and I’ve ate so much I feel sick. The conversation at my table was still going strong and a few times Alpha Quinn mind-linked us to tell us to laugh quieter because we were being to loud.
Keagan was arguing with Taryn because she said that garlic bread was gross, Hannalyn and I were talking about the fight that went down a few days ago, and Derek was joining in both conversations.
The dinner was coming to a close and we were finally dismissed. I followed Keagan through the crowded dining hall and we finally escaped.
On the walk home, my wolf was going crazy and made me feel terrible. I ignored it though. I don’t know why he’s so worked up.
“I feel like I need to do like 50 workouts now,” Keagan groaned patting his stomach.
“Imagine having to workout to keep your body in shape,” I yawned.
“Shut up, at least I don’t spend all my time on a soccer field. By the way, soccer is technically a workout.”
“It’s a fun workout,” I snorted.
“It’s just constant running.”
“Please, you play a sport where you tackle each other to the ground. Sounds pretty gay to me.”
He shut up and we continued walking back to my place.
When we got there, Keagan grabbed his keys from my kitchen and went home. His mom needed him to babysit his little sister tonight while she went out with his dad.
I locked the door and went upstairs to change. It was only 8:30 on a Saturday and I’m going to bed. My stomach felt like it was going to burst and I have work tomorrow then team training for soccer.
I did my night routine and put on pajamas before finally getting into bed.
I couldn’t sleep with my wolf being as restless as he is so I took a shot of vodka to calm him down.
It worked a little bit and I laid back down.
I felt more relaxed and started drifting to sleep. I was so close to sleeping before the doorbell rang.
Who is at my house right now?
I groaned and got up. I only had sweatpants on so whoever was at the door has to deal with me shirtless.
They should consider it a blessing honestly.
I walked all the way downstairs and to the door. I turned on the light and looked through the windows around the door and froze for a second.
There stood Alpha Lukas.
