It had been a long week at the law firm and the university, and both Estelle and Celeste were in desperate need of a break. As the weekend finally rolled around, Estelle couldn’t shake the feeling that they needed to do something fun—something outside their usual dynamic of serious cases and heated office moments. And it seemed Celeste, always composed and in control, had the same idea.
The suggestion came out of nowhere while they were at Celeste’s place, enjoying a quiet dinner. Celeste leaned back in her chair, sipping her wine, and gave Estelle that mischievous look—the one that always made Estelle’s heart race.
“We should do something different tonight,” Celeste said, her eyes twinkling with unspoken plans.
Estelle raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Different? You mean like…?”
Celeste set her wine glass down and smirked. “I was thinking we could go on an adventure. Something a little more… spontaneous.”
Estelle’s pulse quickened at the suggestion. Celeste, the woman who was always in control and always had a plan, wanted to do something spontaneous? This could be interesting.
“Oh, I’m in,” Estelle said, leaning forward with a grin. “What do you have in mind?”
Celeste’s smirk deepened as she stood up, grabbing her jacket. “Come with me. You’ll see.”
Curiosity piqued, Estelle followed Celeste out the door and down to her car, unsure of what to expect. They drove through the city, the lights flashing by as Celeste navigated the streets with ease. Estelle tried to guess where they were headed, but Celeste kept her lips sealed, refusing to give anything away.
After about twenty minutes, they pulled up to an unexpected location—an old, abandoned amusement park on the outskirts of the city. Estelle’s eyes widened in surprise.
“An amusement park?” she asked, glancing at Celeste with a mix of excitement and confusion. “Isn’t this place… closed?”
Celeste grinned, cutting the engine and turning to face Estelle. “It is. But I happen to know that it’s not completely off-limits. There’s a group that sneaks in after dark and rides the old roller coasters and ferris wheel. It’s a little underground, but I figured… why not?”
Estelle’s heart raced at the idea. Breaking into an abandoned amusement park? This was so out of character for Celeste, but that only made it more exciting. “You’ve done this before?”
Celeste chuckled, stepping out of the car. “Let’s just say I’ve been known to bend the rules from time to time. Come on.”
They made their way toward the rusted gates, and Celeste, with her usual confidence, led them through a hidden gap in the fence. Estelle couldn’t help but feel a rush of adrenaline as they slipped into the park, the faint sounds of laughter and distant music coming from somewhere deep within.
As they walked further into the park, Estelle could see the old rides towering above them, their once-colorful paint faded and chipped. The whole place had an eerie, forgotten charm, and yet, there was something magical about it. It felt like they were stepping into a secret world.
“Okay, this is kind of amazing,” Estelle whispered, grinning as they approached the ferris wheel.
Celeste gave her a cheeky smile. “I thought you might like it. And if I’m being honest, I’m enjoying this little rebellious side of us.”
Estelle laughed, shaking her head. “I never thought I’d be sneaking into an amusement park with you. But I love it.”
Celeste’s eyes glinted with mischief. “Let’s make it more fun, then.”
Without warning, she grabbed Estelle’s hand and pulled her toward one of the old roller coasters, where a small group of people had already gathered, clearly in on the underground secret. Celeste exchanged a few words with someone running the ride, and before Estelle knew it, they were being ushered into the front seat of the coaster.
Estelle’s heart pounded with excitement as the coaster started its slow ascent up the first hill. She glanced over at Celeste, who looked completely calm but had that teasing smirk on her face. “You ready for this?” Celeste asked, raising an eyebrow.
Estelle grinned, feeling the adrenaline pump through her veins. “Let’s do it.”
The coaster crested the top of the hill, and suddenly they were flying down, the wind whipping through their hair as the tracks rattled beneath them. Estelle let out a breathless laugh, her hand gripping the safety bar as they zoomed through loops and sharp turns. Beside her, Celeste was laughing too, her usual poised demeanor completely gone in the thrill of the ride.
When the coaster finally came to a stop, Estelle was breathless, her cheeks flushed with excitement. “That was insane!” she exclaimed, still buzzing from the rush.
Celeste was grinning, her eyes sparkling with the same excitement. “You think that was fun? We’re just getting started.”
They spent the next hour running through the park, hopping on rides that had long since been shut down, dodging security and laughing like teenagers breaking curfew. At one point, they climbed to the top of the old ferris wheel, the entire city spread out before them, twinkling like stars. It was exhilarating—wild, fun, and utterly unlike anything Estelle had ever imagined doing with Celeste.
As they sat at the top of the ferris wheel, Estelle glanced over at Celeste, her heart full. “I didn’t know you had this side to you,” she teased.
Celeste smirked, leaning back in her seat. “There’s a lot you don’t know about me, baby. But I’m glad you’re getting to see it.”
Estelle smiled, her hand reaching for Celeste’s. “I’m glad too. This is… perfect.”
For a moment, they just sat there, enjoying the view and the quiet between them. The adrenaline from the night’s craziness began to settle, leaving a warm, content feeling in its place.
“So, sneaking into abandoned places and riding old roller coasters… is this our new thing?” Estelle asked with a grin.
Celeste chuckled, squeezing her hand. “I wouldn’t mind it. But next time, maybe something a little less illegal.”
Estelle laughed, leaning her head against Celeste’s shoulder. “Deal. But this was pretty fun.”
As the ferris wheel slowly descended, Estelle couldn’t help but feel like she and Celeste had turned a new page—one filled with more spontaneity, laughter, and shared adventures. It wasn’t just the thrill of breaking the rules; it was the joy of discovering new sides of each other, of pushing boundaries together.
And as they walked hand in hand out of the park, Estelle knew that this was just the beginning of their crazy, unpredictable journey together.
