Dylan’s pov:
When we got to Cole’s house, there were more people there than he had originally made it seem.
We had to park down the street because of the large amount of cars lined up outside the house.
“I appreciate you coming with me” Maddie said as we walked over to the house. I stuffed my hands in my pockets as we walked side by side.
“Uh yeah sure, no problem” I said back. “Are you okay?”
She slowed down and looked at me. “Yeah..why?”
“well I don’t know you were pretty eager to get drunk” I said in a light tone.
She smiled and looked away from me. “Yeah I guess I was”
She paused before talking again. “I guess I just didn’t want to worry for one night ya know. I wanted to go to a party without any guys on my mind”
She looked at me after saying the last part.
“Makes sense” I said.
We continued walking until we got to a house that visibly had a ton of people packed into it.
“Well here we are” Maddie said. “I promise we won’t stay for long”
I followed Maddie into the house and to the kitchen where most people were.
She greeted a bunch of football players and a few cheerleaders, and I just stood behind her watching her talk.
“You don’t drink at all right?” She yelled into my ear snapping me out of a trance.
The music combined with the voices of loud football guys was enough to make the house deafening.
I shook my head and she grabbed a drink from Cole and led me into the living room.
She sat down on a little windowsill nook and I stood next to her.
“How’d you know?” I asked her. She looked at me.
“What?” She asked. She took a sip from her cup.
“That I don’t drink”
“Oh” she said. “Well I don’t know.. I’ve never seen you drink at any parties, seems like you’re always sober”
I nodded. She drank more from her cup and looked around the room.

A couple more drinks later Maddie was basically dancing around the room.
She had talked to everyone she had wanted to talk to, and she had gone back and forth between the kitchen and living room multiple times to get refills.
“Hey maybe we should head out” I finally said to her.
“Already?” She asked. Her eyes were widened and she was looking up at me. I held onto her arm, trying to make sure she didn’t fall.
“Maddie it’s been an hour and a half, and we have school tomorrow”
“Ugh I hate school” she whined.
“Yeah well you’re gonna hate it even more tomorrow if you don’t get any sleep”
“Ugh fine” she said.
We both said goodbye to Cole and made our way out of the house and down the front stairs. Well more like I walked her down the stairs, and she tried not to fall.
“Hey” she said once we got down the walkway to the house. “You’re like my best friend… I think”
She was looking in the distance like she was talking to the trees. I laughed and averted her attention to me.
“Yeah? What about Leo?” I asked her.
She narrowed her eyes at me and looked from side to side.
“Who’s Leo?” She asked which made me laugh harder.
“You’re really drunk” I said to her. Her eyes were droopy and she had a big smile on her face.
“You’re really pretty” she said while looking at me. I was immediately taken back by that.
She moved a strand of hair on my face and then immediately shifted her attention to something else again.
I looked at her totally dumbfounded by what she had just done, but then I quickly remembered that she was drunk out of her mind and was just saying random shit. It was Maddie after all.
We continued walking to the car and when we finally got there, she was practically asleep.
Once I laid her down in the backseat, she closed her eyes and dozed off.
Luckily I still had her address saved in my phone so I was able to drive to her house.
Once we got there, I pretty much had to drag her out of the car and up to her front door.
“Shit” I said once I got there. “Maddie do you have a key?” I asked her.
She groaned at me and didn’t say anything. I sighed and looked around her front steps.
I reached into her mailbox and pulled out a small box that had a spare key inside.
God. What a dumb place to put a key.
I unlocked the door and helped Maddie step into the foyer. Her arm was wrapped around my shoulder and she had let her head fall onto my shoulder.
“Looks like someone’s had one too many drinks” I heard someone say which scared the absolute shit out of me. I looked up with wide eyes and saw a younger girl standing at the top of the stairs. I immediately relaxed.
“More like 5” I said back, making her laugh.
We stood there in the dark for a moment before the girl turned on the foyer lights. Maddie groaned and covered her face.
“I’m Sadie… her sister” she said, as she walked down the stairs.
“I figured.. you two look exactly alike. And I’m Dylan”
The girl was a little younger than Maddie but had the same blonde hair and similar facial features.
“Are you one of her friends?” She asked. I thought for a moment.
“I’m not sure your sister would really consider me as a friend… but I’ll say yes” I said, shrugging.
“Well That’s too bad for her, she needs more friends.” She said, and I laughed.
“Wanna help me get her up the stairs?” I asked.
Sadie nodded and walked behind us to support Maddie’s back.
“Sadieeee hiiii” Maddie said, suddenly waking up. She turned her head to look back at her sister.
Maddie must have still had beer on her breath because when she opened her mouth to talk, her sister pulled her head back in disgust.
“God mom and dad are so gonna kill you” Sadie said.
Once we got her up the stairs, we led her to her room and sat her down on the bed. She immediately fell back against her pillow.
I looked at her for a moment and then turned to her sister.
“You really gonna tell your parents?” I asked.
She thought for a moment before answering.
“No..but I will keep it as blackmail”
“Hmmmm….. smart.” I said, waving my finger at her. She nodded and smiled.
“Dylan are you here?” Maddie suddenly said, opening her eyes.
“Yep” I said back, stepping closer.
She looked at me with droopy eyes.
“Thanks for coming to the party with me… that was really nice of you” she said, slurring some of her words.
“Yeah no problem” I said laughing. “She’s a sappy drunk” I whispered to her sister making her laugh.
“Hey.. guys…. this cheer thing is really uncomfortable” Maddie said. She lifted her body up and leaned forward. She started taking the top of her uniform off which started to reveal her stomach and some of her bra.
“Alright I think that’s my Que to go” I said, looking away. “It was nice meeting you” I said to Sadie.
“Yeah you too” she chuckled.
I started to walk out of the room.
“And hey” she said, making me stop as when I had one foot still left in the doorway.
“Thanks for taking care of her.” She had a sincere look on her face.
I looked at her, then Maddie, and smiled.
“Of course.”
