A+ A-

Damien

It’s been two weeks since I’ve heard from Velvet. She hasn’t responded to any of my text, but she hasn’t blocked me either.

I know what I did was wrong, I should have told her before we went to the party. I just didn’t wanna ruin her mood and break her heart before the party. But it seems that I already did that. And I feel awful .

Every time I ask Noelle about Velvet, she just tells me that she’s working on it.

I need her to work a bit faster

“Yes Dad, I’m coming for Thanksgiving. And No, Velvet isn’t coming.” I let out a sigh as I shut the door, locking it behind myself. Thanksgiving was in two weeks, and almost everyone in my family has been asking if I was going. Which I said yes to each one of them.

“We broke up, that’s why she isn’t coming. We aren’t on good terms, plus she has her own family.” I stated as I hung up the phone and continued through the house until I found myself peeping in the kitchen. It was Caleb, he had on headphones while humming to whatever tune he was listening to.

He had an apron on, that said kiss the baker with mini cupcakes on it. Which I thought was cute on him.
He grabbed the tray and slipped it inside the oven.

“I can’t help but love you, even though I try not to. I can’t help but want you, I know that I’d die without
you♬~” He softly sang under his breath with a bright smile pulling the corner of his lips, still not noticing me.

I felt a hue of pink heating my cheeks as I listened to him murmur the verses of the song he was listening to.
I could almost feel how he felt at this moment, there was desperation, or desire in his soft tone. Like the words and him were one.

“Damien!” He finally spots me, his face going completely red from embarrassment. He pulls down his headphones until they’re around his neck, not able to get a word out.

“Hey superstar. Didn’t think I’d get a VIP ticket to your concert.” I chuckled, walking further into the kitchen towards him.

“I- I- you just- where did you come from?” He stampered, not getting a solid grip on his word as he let whatever fall from him lips.

“Outside.”

“You should have said something.” He frowned, still embarrassed from moments prior.

“And interrupt your singing? I don’t think so. Anyway, what are you baking.”

“Cupcakes. You wanna help?”

“Sure why not.”

“Great! We’re gonna make the frosting together. This is gonna be- wait I need to get the ingredients from the pantry. Stay here.” He hurries off to the pantry, and I can’t help but smile at his excitement. He’s such a happy and optimistic spirit. I can’t believe he’s in love with a guy like Nathan.

His boyfriend is such an asshole, it pisses me off just thinking about him. He came over the other day, and his vibe was off. Caleb even looked like he was uncomfortable with his presence, maybe even a bit on edge.

Caleb deserves so much better

I hear knocking on the door. I swear to good that better not be Nathan. I don’t think I’m physically ready to see him without having a bad reaction.

I make my way to the door and unlock it, it was Noelle and Velvet. Noelle having her hand on Velvet’s shoulder, while Velvet gives me a slightly annoyed stare.

“I brought her here, and it’s took both god and satan to bring her here. So please apologize.” Noelle’s arm fell to her side before walking inside and shutting the door, leaving me and Velvet out here alone.

“Velvet I’m sorry, what I did was a pussy thing to do. I should have told before, and I was planning to. I just didn’t know how without making you upset.”

“You did that anyway. Did you even like me in the first place?” She crossed her arms, her nails digging into her skin.

“Truthfully, not really. And my explanation for why is also pathetic.”

“Just tell me you pathetic reason.”

“The only reason I was with you was to move on from my previous relationship. I wasn’t thinking of your feelings in the process because I thought I would eventually fall head over heels for you eventually cause I thought you were a cool girl.” I sighed, “But clearly I didn’t. And I still upset you.”

“You toyed with my heart for years, and the way I find out is at a party, with you in an outfit I payed for.” I watched the vein in her forehead beginning to pop out.

“How much were the outfits?”

“138 all together, along with the makeup I wasted on your fucking face.” I pulled out my wallet and pulled out the exact amount she said, and I now only have 20 dollars in my wallet. I hand the money to her.

“Here, 138 dollars that you spent on me… you aren’t gonna forgive me are you?”

“I hate you for what you did, and how you made me feel. I was in a one sided relationship for 3 years, without knowing it was a one sided relationship. But you still treated me with respect and love, even if you didn’t love me. Nor did you cheat on me… I don’t know if I can forget what you did. And it’ll take me a while to forgive you but… eventually I might.” Her arms unfolded as she let out a faint groan.

“Thanks.”

“You’re still an asshole. And just to let you know if it weren’t for Noelle I wouldn’t even be talking to you right now.”

I held my hands up defensively, “I understand that. Thank you for allowing me to explain. And I’m sorry for toying with your feelings.”

“When you go inside tell Noelle to come on.”

“Kay.” I respond before opening the door, “Noelle, Velvet said she’s ready to leave.” I walk in the house, my eyes searching for Noelle, and I find her talking to Caleb.

“Noelle.”

“Hm?” Her head turns towards before standing up from leaning on the counter. “How’d it go?”

“It went alright, she’s obviously still upset, but she allowed me to explain and apologize.”

“Good.” She let out a relief sigh before walking pass me.

“Noelle.” She stopped and turned around to look at me, a brow raised. “Thanks for helping me.”

“No problem.” She smiled before continuing and leave, shutting the door behind her.

“What was that about?”

“I broke up with Velvet.”

“What, why? I thought you liked her.” He said, his brow rose with shock.

I didn’t like her, I was with her to get over you. It didn’t work since I still have feelings for you. And I shouldn’t because you’re with someone else.

“No, I didn’t.”

“Oh… well I hope you find someone that you love.” A sincere smile slightly tugs his lips.

Someone I love?

I hear the door opens and shut, “Anyone at home?” Milo shouts as I hear his footsteps travel through the house until he’s in the doorway of the kitchen.

“It smells great in here, what are you two baking?” Milo walks into the kitchen and stops at the counter, and leans against it with his arms crossed, as his eyes alternate between us with a curious smile.

“Cupcakes, Damien said he was gonna help with making the icing. Wanna help?”

“Why not.” He stands up from the counter.

Making the icing was easy, it just took a while, not to mention it was very messy. There was no mixer so Milo hand mixed it, which was a terrible idea. He managed to get Icing all over his clothes and face. He mixes like a five year old.

“This is the last time you ever mix anything.” Caleb said as he pulled down the oven to check the cupcakes.
“They aren’t done yet.” He shut the oven, the moment he turns around he was met with Milo slapping some icing on him.

“Oh no, there’s icing on your face.” Milo responded with a laugh before a smirk painted his lips. Milo was about to say something else sarcastic, but Caleb had put icing on Milo’s face in return.

“Now there’s Icing on your face.” Caleb giggled as he grabbed the large bowl of icing from Milo and sat it on the counter.

The two began to playfully bicker with one another as we wait for the cupcakes in the oven. I couldn’t help but  smile at them and they’re meaningless argument about one another.

Someone I love?
