Team 7 arrived in front of room 301 and Kakashi was waiting for them in front. He told them that they wouldn’t have been able to take the exam if one of them didn’t show up. After that, they went inside and met with the other 6 rookies. The examiner came and introduced himself as Morino Ibiki. He told them it was a written test and Akashi was immediately worried about Naruto.

The examiner then said that they have 1 hour to finish the test and that the last question will be given after 45 minutes. Team 7 was then separated and nobody say next to anyone. Ibiki told them that they can cheat, but each time they are caught two points will be reduced out of a total 10. If they are caught 5 times, they will fail and be sent out. Akashi thought that was weird. Why give us 5 chances? Why not send us out after catching us 1 time?

It was then that he figured it out. Oh! This isn’t just a written test! It is an information gathering test! Soon after, he focused on the paper at hand. The questions were nothing like what they had at the academy. This is gonna be tough. Half an hour passed and he had barely written anything. What is this?! This makes no sense! More than a half of the exam takers already failed. The remaining 15 minutes passed too fast.

Ibiki announced that it was time for the last question. I’m doomed! Akashi grimaced. Ibiki said that the ones who don’t want to take the last question can give up and try the exam next time, but if they choose to answer it and get it wrong, they will be banned from taking the exam ever again. Hearing this, even more exam takers quit and alongside their own team, they left the room.

Huh?! Stuck as a Genin for the rest of my life? No thank you! Akashi decided he would take the question either way. He looked at where Naruto sat and noticed he was shaking. He’s not gonna quit. Naruto surprised everyone but Akashi when he stood up and declared that he wasn’t going to quit and that he was going to become Hokage. Akashi let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding in. That’s my little bro!

After Naruto said that, nobody left the classroom. He wiped away their uncertainty. Seeing that everyone was determined, Ibiki announced that everyone in the classroom passes. Confused, Sakura stood up and asked where the 10th question went. Ibiki laughed and said that there was no such thing as a 10th question. Some blond girl said that the previous 9 questions were useless. Ibiki said that they served their purpose which was to gather information.

Hoh? So I was right. Grinning, Akashi was satisfied. Just as Ibiki was finishing up the reason why information gathering is crucial, the window was broken and a woman with a huge banner jumped in. The banner was black at it said her name. Mitarashi Anko. She introduced herself as the second examiner and said that more than half of the teams that passed will fail on the exam. She said that they should ask their Jounin squad leaders at what time they will have the second exam tomorrow.

After they talked with Kakashi about the time and place of the meeting, they went to the place. It was a huge forest that was surrounded with fences and signs that said ‘Forbidden Area’. “This is where the exam will take place”. Anko said as she stood in front of the fence. “The 44th training area…” She trailed off. “Also known as The Forrest of Death”. She finished with a smirk. “The Forest of Death?” Naruto whispered, fear seeping into his voice. Akashi patted him on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, I’m here”. He sent him a grin, which made Naruto slightly brighten up.

“You will be able to experience why this place is called The Forest of Death”. Anko said. Naruto started mocking her, repeating the words she said. A tick mark appeared on Akashi’s forehead. “Na-ru-to~”. He said as he placed a hand on his shoulder. Naruto froze in place. “Don’t mock people!” He suddenly yelled and hit the back of his head. Naruto yelped and grabbed his head in pain. “Stop hitting me like that!” He pointed at him, making Akashi’s eyes narrow. “What did I say about pointing?!” He shouted.

Naruto gulped and turned around, facing Anko. “There’s no point in trying to scare us like that”. He told her and Akashi sighed in disbelief. “I’m not scared at all!” He pointed… again. Akashi was about to interfere, but he saw Anko throw a kunai Naruto’s way. He pulled Naruto away and deflected her kunai with his own one. The kunai was deflected, but it managed to nick Naruto’s cheek. Anko disappeared from in front of them and appeared behind them. “Boys like you die the fastest, but it seems you have a protector at your side”. She grinned.

Her expression changed and she took out another kunai, almost stabbing the person who appeared behind them. There was a guy with a straw hat, holding a kunai with her forked tongue. “Here’s your kunai”. He slurred as he said that. “Thank you”. Anko replied with a fake smile. “But don’t walk up to me like that, if you don’t want to die young”. She threatened the guy. The man smiled. “I noticed the blood so I got a little excited”. After that exchange, he walked away.

“What a weird guy”. Akashi whispered out as he watched him retreat. With a big amount of Chakra. Akashi looked back at Naruto and saw the blood on his cheek. He wiped it off with the back of his hand, prepared to heal the wound, but the bleeding already stopped. He looked away and met gazes with Sasuke. The Uchiha looked at him with furrowed brows. Akashi shook his head and Sasuke nodded.

Anko walked away from them and went back to her previous spot, in front of the fences. She pulled out some papers. She said those were consent papers and that they need to sign those, because people will die and she doesn’t want to be held responsible for that. She brought out two scrolls and said that they will fight over them. There are 26 teams there so 13 will get the Heaven scroll and 13 will get the Earth scroll.

To pass, they will need to have both scrolls and bring them to a tower inside the forest within a time limit of 5 days. Some people complained about food and Anko said that there is more than enough things to chose from inside. They were given time to sign the consent forms. Naruto and Sakura disappeared off to somewhere and Akashi was left with Sasuke. The latter walked over to a boulder, sat down onto the grass and leaned onto it.

Akashi walked over and leaned onto it, without sitting down. He noticed Sasuke looking in a direction and when he raised his head, he saw the stand at where the scrolls were gonna be distributed. “We won’t know which team got what scroll or who carries it, right?” Akashi asked and Sasuke nodded. “Damn…”. Akashi huffed and looked at his consent form. The Uchiha raised his head and looked at him. “What is it?” He asked, tone flat.

Akashi shook his head. “There will be killing”. He sighed out. Sasuke furrowed his brows. “Didn’t think it would matter to you that much, after that mission”. He emphasized on ‘that’. Akashi blinked and then let out a laugh. “I’d rather not get my hands bloody”. Sasuke didn’t say anything to that and Akashi stayed quiet. A few minutes later, a guy exited the stand and said that it’s time for the scroll exchange, before going back inside.

Team 7 went to the stand and handed their forms, getting a Heaven scroll in return. They were then led to gate 12 at which they waited for the time to get in. The time passed and their gate was unlocked, granting them entrance. After a while of walking through the forest, a scream alerted them of danger. The scream came from way behind them. “Was that a scream?” Sakura asked as they all turned around. “I’m kinda getting nervous”. She turned to Sasuke.

“It was nothing Sakura”. Naruto said and then he turned around. “I have to pee”. He suddenly said and walked over to a small bush, turning his back to them. Akashi raised his brows and then shook his head. “He never learns”. Sakura walked over behind him and hit him on the back of the head. “You fool! What are you doing in front of a lady, go to the grass!” She pointed away. “That was well deserved”. Akashi said as Naruto walked away and Sasuke looked at him in amusement.

After a short while, Naruto walked back. “Ahh, that was a lot! I’m refreshed”. He said with a grin. “Like I said, not in front of a lady”. Sakura raised her fist in the air. Akashi narrowed his eyes as he looked at ‘Naruto’. He got a kunai out and threw it at him, aiming for the neck. ‘Naruto’ jumped away. “Hey! What was that for?!” He yelled, but was then kicked away by Sasuke, flying into a tree. “What are you guys doing?!” Sakura yelled, confused as to what was going on.

“Where is Naruto?!” Akashi yelled at the Fake Naruto. Fake Naruto looked up in confusion. “What are you talking about? I’m here!” He yelled back. Sasuke and Akashi lunged at him, Akashi sending the first kick. Fake Naruto jumped up the tree and Sasuke followed after him, kicking him down. Akashi sent another kunai flying, which impaled the Fake Naruto’s shoulder. “What are you doing?!” He screamed at them.

“What are you asking? That’s my line”. Sasuke said as he readied his kunai. Akashi went behind Fake Naruto and kicked him forward, making him fall. Sasuke dashed forward and just as he was about to stab him, Fake Naruto rolled out of the way and stood up. He and Sasuke started fighting with their kunai. Fake Naruto jumped away and stood on guard, his eyes going from Akashi to Sasuke.

“You guys! Please stop!” Sakura said from behind them. “Look closely at him”. Sasuke nodded towards Fake Naruto. “See anything different about him?” Akashi added as he pointed his kunai at him. “Where’s the real Naruto? Don’t you dare lie to me”. Akashi threatened. “I have no idea what you’re talking about!” Fake Naruto yelled at them again. “What happened to the scratch on your face?” Sasuke questioned and Fake Naruto’s expression changed to shock.

“Your shuriken holster is on the wrong leg, Naruto is right-handed”. He added. Akashi glared at Fake Naruto. “You may look like him, but your Chakra is completely different from his, now, answer me!” Akashi growled out the words at him. There was a brief pause, before Fake Naruto disappeared in a poof of smoke and in his place was a completely different guy. “Unlucky! In that case, which one of you got the scroll?” He asked.

Sakura whipper out a kunai. “If you listen to me, I’ll spare your lives”. He said and Akashi snorted at his words. “If you did something to Naruto, I’ll do more than just kill you”. Akashi narrowed his eyes and gripped his kunai. Sasuke was momentarily taken aback at his words. Was this the same boy who said he wouldn’t like to kill. It was like someone flipped a switch. It seemed to him like that switch had a lot to do with Naruto.
