“He… He absorbed the Ten-Tails”. Akashi spoke up, staring at the man with wide eyes. His whole chakra system was completely different from before… What the hell?
“He looks even creepier than before!” Naruto exclaimed.
“Obito…”. Minato mumbled out, staring at his previous student.
“He actually absorbed the whole thing…”. Sasuke’s attention was brought to the redhead next to him. Absorbed?
“How do you know that?” Akashi turned to face him, before he looked back at where Obito was. Somehow… Sasuke realised he had a worried look on his face.
“I sensed him pull the Ten-Tails in… He absorbed it and became its Jinchuriki”. Was the answer the raven-haired boy received.
“I see…”. Sasuke turned back to face Obito.
Akashi watched as multiple gates descended upon Obito, forcing him into the ground. Those were binding gates, used for binding Tailed Beasts, but it should work on a Jinchuriki.
“Whoa! Amazing!” Naruto said as he watched the sight before them.
“No…”. Minato said, narrowing his eyes at the place where Obito was. Akashi could sense it… Naruto’s excitement was short-lived, because the gates started cracking. A moment later, all of them were destroyed.
“He’s too strong for that now”. Akashi commented. Obito stood still among the wreckage he caused as five crimson flames were lit on his back. Immediately after that, the flames extended into hands and each of them grabbed the giant crimson barrier which surrounded them. The barrier was then pulled inwards and they could only watch as it shattered into pieces.
“Enough! Obito, stop this!” Minato yelled at the man in a futile attempt to stop him.
Obito straightened up and stared straight at Minato. “O… bi… to?” He asked, as if he didn’t know what he was saying. Was Obito even conscious? Was this the effect of the Ten-Tail’s power?
Was it too much for him to handle?
The First, Second and Third Hokages arrived at the scene and landed in front of Obito. Akashi watched as something akin to a black orb appeared in Obito’s hand, then, in a moments time, the said man had dashed forward, breaking off the side of Hashirama’s clone and half of Tobirama, leaving crumbling paper in his wake.
“What happened?!” Naruto asked, staring at Obito in disbelief.
“Saru! Fourth! Scram!” Tobirama suddenly exclaimed and Akashi sensed chakra being gathered. Then, out of nowhere, seals which Tobirama had put on Obito exploded and Hashirama’s clone used Wood Release to bind him.
“Minato! Get away!” Sarutobi had jumped up into the air.
“Lord Second, you sure work fast!” The moment those words left Minato’s lips, Naruto, Sasuke, Akashi and even the toad they were on, disappeared along with the man.
The moment they landed somewhere further away, an immediate explosion happened on their previous spot. The force of it made all of them atop the toad try and hold onto something as to not get blown away. “This is too much! What’s going on?! I can’t keep up!” Naruto said.
“Don’t freak out! Always keep an eye on what’s happening around you!” Minato lectured him.
“A little bit too late for fatherly advice, don’t you think?!” Akashi yelled over the loud explosion noise, which made the man look at him with something akin to pain swimming inside of his reanimated irises.
Once the explosion died out, Obito was revealed. He didn’t have a scratch on his body.
Sarutobi stared him down and summoned a giant shuriken. Then, he threw it and around it appeared a lot more of giant shuriken. They all raced towards Obito, but the man just summoned his black orb and changed its shape, effectively cutting through the shuriken. He reached Sarutobi and destroyed his left arm as the black ball changed its shape and extended.
Then, Obito grabbed Sarutobi by the head and blew the top part of his body away.
“Gramps!” Naruto exclaimed and stared down at Minato. “Dad! You couldn’t teleport Grandpa Third with your jutsu too?” He questioned and Akashi could hear the desperation in his tone.
“It’s impossible. I can’t teleport anything that I myself, or my chakra isn’t touching directly”. Minato explained.
“Naruto, the Hokage are Reanimations”. Akashi commented and jumped down, landing besides Sasuke. He turned to look at Naruto, but found him to be confusedly staring at him, as if he didn’t know what Akashi meant by that. The redhead sighed and glanced at Sasuke.
“They jumped in head-on knowing that they won’t die, in order to check out the enemy’s moves and abilities”. Sasuke clarified. “Stop worrying and analyse the battle instead”. He turned back to the fight and Akashi peered at him from the corner of his eye.
Then, unexpectedly, he reached a finger towards the raven-haired boy’s cheek and swiped at it. Sasuke furrowed his brows and looked at him. “You had dirt on your cheek”. Was the redhead’s explanation. Sasuke had no chance to say anything, since Minato spoke up.
“I’ll go first and create an opening!” He said and prepared himself to take off. A moment after that, Obito took off and jumped towards them, but his body suddenly puffed out and he fell down before he even reached them.
“What the hell?” Akashi stared at Obito’s form, his eyes darting all over. What was happening? Obito wasn’t moving, just staring at them. Was his body not prepared for the Ten-Tails? Were they not synced?
Clone Minato dashed forward and summoned the real Minato. The two of them ran towards Obito.
Akashi’s eyes widened as he sensed something.
“Naruto! Below you!” He whipped back around just in time to see the toad be blown back and Naruto blown forward. Obito had passed underground with his upper body.
As Naruto descended down, Obito charged at him and the black orb changed its shape into a sharp object which was aimed at Naruto. Before it could come in contact with him, Sasuke blocked the hit with his Susanoo.
Akashi and Sasuke both jumped to Naruto’s side.
“You’re not the one…”, Sasuke started, staring at Obito, “… who’s going to sever the past. I am!” Akashi extended his hand in front of himself and a crimson blade burst to life a moment later.
Suddenly, Akashi’s eyes widened as Obito appeared in front of them and grabbed both Sasuke and Naruto by their heads. He was planning on doing the same thing he did with Sarutobi!
Gritting his teeth, Akashi pulled his blade back and watched as both Naruto and Sasuke disappeared from their spots, leaving him with Obito. Forcing his blade down, it was met with one of the black orbs. He pushed with all his strength, but the blade just wouldn’t cut through. Then, with one burst of chakra from Obito, the blade flew out of Akashi’s hands and disappeared.
His eyes widened as a fist neared him. As to soften the blow, he released his chains and Obito’s fist slammed into them. He sailed through the air, but before he could slam into anything, he activated the seal which he had placed on Minato’s robes. A moment later, he was back with the rest of them.
“Akashi!” Minato’s worried voice resounded from right next to him and as a hand was placed on his shoulder, Akashi harshly slapped it away. He glanced to the side and was met with Sasuke. The boy’s hand was in the air and he stared at Akashi with widened eyes.
“What is that?” Their eye contact was broken by Naruto’s question. Akashi turned to look in the direction in which Naruto was looking at and saw that Obito’s body had undergone even more changes. He started bulging up, layers and layers of his skin were stretching away from him.
Seems like he was still unable to use his new body well.
“We have to take him down while he’s still unable to use his body well”. Minato said.
Obito’s disfigured arm was aimed at them as a single black orb hovered in the middle of it. Then, his arm twitched to the side and the orb was fired off at them, but it just went past them. The area, which it hit, blew up in a flash of light so bright, Akashi had to raise an arm to cover his eyes. The orb returned to its original size and returned back to Obito.
The man’s arm was blown away.
“He hit himself”. Akashi spoke up. “He barely has any control over what he is doing”. Minato stood before him and held three kunai in each hand.
“I’ll create an opening, so you all hit him with all your strength!” Before that could happen, Obito’s body changed again and he released a blood-curdling scream. Minato threw his kunai around Obito, surrounding him with them.
“Here I come, Obito!” Minato dashed towards the said man. There was a sudden explosion of smoke in the place Obito was and Akashi clenched his fist at the feeling of his chakra.
He had changed.
Something had changed.
He had done something.
As the smoke cleared, they were met with Obito’s new form. “Finally, sensei”. He said and Minato slashed at him with his kunai. The kunai got sliced in half as soon as it made contact with Obito’s staff. Akashi readied his chakra blade and teleported to Minato. He saw Obito reach a hand towards Minato and a moment later, Minato’s right arm was blown away.
Akashi pulled his blade back and whipped it forward, his violet eyes clashing against Obito’s mismatched ones. The blade made contact with Obito’s arm and it cut clean into it, but it lacked the force to cut through. Akashi ducked under Obito’s other arm, successfully evading a hit which would have cost him his life and jumped back.
He watched as Obito’s wound healed up in a few moments. “What the hell…?” Akashi mumbled out at the sight. His eyes widened as the man appeared in front of him and Akashi activated his seal, teleporting back to Minato. He was met with a sight he didn’t really wish to see. Obito had attached one of his orbs onto Minato and the orb started to glow right next to them.
Sasuke activated Susanoo, covering himself and Naruto, and pulled Akashi back inside the Susanoo’s armor.
Akashi saw Minato reach for the ball. Did he intend to teleport away with it? Before that could happen, Tobirama appeared and grabbed the ball, teleporting away with it. He went to Obito and teleported away with both the orb and the man.
A little way from them, a giant explosion lit up the sky as the orb exploded.
“Don’t worry”. Akashi heard Tobirama’s voice before he even sensed him. “I only teleported a clone”. The man said and Sasuke’s Susanoo deactivated. “I marked him that last time we were in contact”. He explained.
“Amazing! You can copy my dad’s move!” Naruto excitedly said and Akashi almost facepalmed. “Impressive, Second Great Stone Face-guy!” It took everything to not facepalm at that point.
“Naruto… Tobirama created the move”. Akashi sighed out and the said man looked at him.
“Tobirama…?” He questioned, narrowing his eyes in his direction.
“It has less letters than the Second Hokage or Lord Second”. Was Akashi’s reply… He ignored Tobirama’s annoyed expression. He heard Minato’s nervous chuckle from behind, but he didn’t turn around.
“Did he get him?” The giant toad asked.
“No”. Akashi replied. He could still sense his chakra. Out of the smoke, a giant orb exited. It settled not far from them and it opened up, revealing an unharmed Obito.
“He blocked it, huh? He’s fast”. Tobirama commented. “We won’t be able to hit him with ordinary jutsu”. He was right… They needed something special…
“I guess I’ll have to make an opening with my Rasen-Flash Super-Circle Dance Howl Stage Three…”. Akashi sighed out at the man’s antics. He can’t have seriously named his jutsu that?
Right?
“You’re a bit of a comedian, aren’t you?” Tobirama asked. “I’d normally make fun of your jutsu names… Except this guy we’re facing is absolutely no joke”. Taking that as some kind of sign, Sasuke and Naruto ran forward, Akashi following closely behind them.
Sasuke used his Amaterasu, but Obito managed to block it with his staff.
“Sasuke! Naruto! Akashi! I said I would create an opening for you!” Minato yelled after them.
“We’ll do it!” Akashi interrupted both Sasuke and Naruto. “Your previous attempts weren’t that flattering!” He could just imagine Minato’s reaction to his words.
“I could tell you were amassing chakra in your left eye”. Obito said. “Hardly a surprise attack”.
Akashi watched as Naruto created his Rasen-Shuriken and Sasuke created Amaterasu in his palm. The two of them combined them. Tobirama appeared behind Obito and grabbed him. Then, Minato appeared directly in front of Naruto’s and Sasuke’s jutsu.
It was in that moment that Akashi realised what they were planning.
He released a chain from the palm of his hand and hardened it. Then, he quickly grabbed it with his other hand and broke it off. He gripped it in his left hand and forced even more chakra into it.
It started glowing a bright red.
“Move!” He yelled out at Sasuke and Naruto the moment Obito appeared in Minato’s place. The two boys did as they were asked and moved just in time to evade the, now, spear which whipped past their heads and embedded into Obito along with their combined jutsu’s. The force of the spear slamming into him, sent Obito flying back.
As soon as he made contact with the ground, Sasuke’s Amaterasu spread across the ground.
“All right!” Naruto exclaimed, an excited grin on his face. Then, black orbs burst into the Amaterasu, before the jutsu was put out by the said orbs, revealing an unharmed Obito.
“You’ve got to be kidding me?!” Akashi growled out. They did nothing to him?! Absolutely nothing?!
“What a pain”. Sasuke said and ran to where Minato and Tobirama were. Naruto and Akashi followed after him. It was then that he noticed something odd.
“Your arm”. Akashi spoke up, gesturing at Minato’s arm. “It isn’t recovering”. Tobirama glanced at the boy and then looked back at Minato.
“I’ve noticed that too”. He said.
“I have come to possess the same power as the Founder of Ninja… You can no longer measure me by the standards you are used to”. Obito spoke up, hovering in the air.
Tobirama explained that Obito used a jutsu based on Shadow and Light Styles which nullify all ninjutsu. He added that if their reanimated bodies got destroyed, they won’t be able to recover and they would die.
Since ninjutsu didn’t work on him, physical attacks were the only thing that remained.
“Sasuke… Akashi…”. Naruto spoke up.
“What?” Both of them said at the same time.
“We’re going to have to take the lead… You guys need to keep up”. Akashi huffed out a laugh.
“Who do you think you’re talking to?” He questioned, glancing at Naruto.
“Don’t underestimate the Uchiha”. Sasuke said.
Naruto clasped his hands together. “All right!” He exclaimed. “I’ll up my Kurama Mode and go into Tailed Beast state!” He said and just as the chakra around his body changed, it disappeared, leaving him with nothing at all.
Who would have thought that the mere mention of Kurama would make Akashi’s heard throb inside his chest? To think that Naruto would make friends with his own half…
While Akashi was forced to cut his own down.
His fingers twitched as a sharp pain went through his head. He clenched his eyes shut and took a step backwards, which didn’t go unnoticed by Sasuke. “Akashi?” He asked, taking a step towards him. He watched as the redhead grit his teeth. Was he in pain? Was he hurting?
Is this because of the Nine-Tails? The lack of it, that is.
“Akashi?” He repeated and watched as the said boy hook his head.
“No!” Akashi exclaimed, stumbling backwards. He could barely stand on his feet from the intense pain. It raked through his head, through every part of it.
It felt like his mind was being ripped apart.
He didn’t know what was happening.
Was this it?
Was this the end he feared?
Was the lack of Kurama responsible for the way he felt now?
Was it finally catching up to him?
…
Death?
…
“I’m sorry…!” He mumbled out loud. “I’m sorry…!” At that point, the others had noticed what was happening.
“Akashi? What is going on?!” Minato asked, looking at his son with wide eyes. “Akashi!” As soon as he moved, crimson chains burst out of the red-headed boy and embedded into the ground in front of him, blocking everyone from coming near him.
“Akashi?!” Naruto exclaimed.
Akashi gripped his head.
His body was trembling.
“What the hell is wrong with him?!” Tobirama demanded, furrowing his brows as he watched the boy.
“I think this has something to do with the Nine-Tails”. The white-haired man glanced at the Uchiha who said that. Now that he said it, it does make sense.
A person was supposed to die after the Tailed Beast was taken from them.
But… The Nine-Tails wasn’t taken from Akashi…
The boy said he killed it, but as far as Tobirama knows, a Tailed Beast cannot die.
So… What was going on?
“Akashi?” Sasuke whispered, extending a hand towards the boy. His fingers neared the crimson chains. Crimson… They didn’t use to be crimson… They changed after the problem with the Nine-Tails.
What had happened?
“Akashi?” He repeated and his skin made contact with the chain. With a wince leaving his lips, he whipped his hand back as if he was burnt… But it was the total opposite.
The chains were ice-cold. They were so cold that the mere contact with them hurt.
It was then, that the boy’s trembling halted.
It was then, that his hands dropped down.
It was then, that he raised his head.
It was then, that he opened his eyes.
And it was then, that violet was replaced by crimson.
