Dianthus Caryophyllus; A Soonhoon Fic 05

“Hoshi! Ji! Come out and eat breakfast!” I shouted into their rooms, waking them up. Moments later a half-asleep and messy haired soonyoung walked out of his room. “Where’s jihoon?” He just shrugged his shoulders and walked out indifferently. Weird. He usually stays to wake him up or will at least say something. “ji are you awake?” I carefully opened the door to his room.

“Ji! What happened to you!” around him were petals. Buttercups and carnations, but laced with blood. The sheets were soaked and stained bright red.

I picked him up into the toilet and helped clean up the mess in the bedroom. It reminded me too much of 6 years ago, so much so that it was scary. I waited till he cleaned himself up in the toilet.

“How long has this happened already? Does anyone else know?”

“6 weeks…Chan and s-soonyoung… They found out 4 weeks ago…” He was fiddling with his hoodie, like a child getting scolded.

“It’s soonyoung isn’t it.”

“What?!” He snapped his head up to look at me.

“Don’t trick me ji. Even if you think you can trick us, I can tell you like him.”

“I-I…”

“You don’t need to explain yourself just yet, you can do it when you are ready. Come on let’s go eat, the others are waiting.”

We then walked to the dining area.

“What took yalls so long?” Coups asked.

“Just trying to wake this lil guy up as usual.” He did not even retaliate. The illness must be taking a toll on him as usually he would scold us for calling him little or cute or at least playfully smack us.

Breakfast was as per normal, the usual teasing, leg pulling, boisterous laughter and just us being us. But hoshi woozi and dino were exceptionally quiet.

“Hyung, can we talk?” Dino asked from behind me. As we started clearing the tables and washing up.

“Sure, let’s go to my room.”

“Shua! I’m going to be in my room with dino, don’t come in!”

“Ok” I heard him reply as we walked away. The air was awkward as we walked there. I suspected he wanted to talk about the soonhoon duo.

“I’m worried about hoshi and woozi hyung, hyung.” He went straight to the point as we reached and sat on the bed, not forgetting to lock the door behind us.

“I am too, I found out just now and it seems quite bad. Usually the  symptoms won’t be so bad in the early stages.”

“He has feelings for hoshi hyung isn’t it.” I just nodded my head in reply. He was really that obvious after all that even the maknae realised.

“But hoshi hyung cant feel anything romantic anymore… Does that mean woozi hyung must do the surgery too?”

“I think so… Unless a miracle happens OR the surgery had some errors? But that itself has little chances or no chances. Besides it’s been 6 years, if there were errors, it would have been found out 6 years ago. But knowing woozi, he will rather die than do it.”

“hyung, what if we show him the letter…”

I sighed but shook my head. The letter Dino was talking about was written by hoshi 6 years ago. Before he went into the operating theatre, he had passed it to both of us. Yes, only both of us out of the 12 of us know about him having hanahaki before during our trainee years. The rest only knew that he took a break for 6 months due to health problems. The letter was for if he did not make out of the operation alive. It was to tell woozi about his feelings. Even though he survived, maybe this was the only way to let them communicate. But it was hoshi’s wish to not let him know…unless he had died.

“I don’t think we should… Not yet at least… I know we have to help them in some way or another but hoshi won’t like it if we passed the letter to him now. We just observe them closely for the next few days and weeks and give them space.”

“OK hyung.”
