“Yeay! Arcade!” Yuri exclaimed as she ran inside with her eyes reflecting the arcade lights. Yena followed her from behind as she looked for games to play with.
“What should we play first?” Chaewon asked Hyunjin.
“The shooting game sounds good i guess.”
“Shooting game it is. Let’s cash in some coins.” Chaewon put the bill inside the coin generator and coins started pouring a few seconds later.
“Have you ever been here, Y/N?” She asked as he’s looking around the arcade.
“I’ve never been here before. My parents would usually walk past this place.”
“Oh really? Well they might be thinking that since you can’t feel, why bother bringing you to this place.” Chaewon deducted. They started heading towards the shooting game about zombies.
“Let me teach you, Y/N.”
“He can learn by himself, Chaewon-ah. Let him be.”
“Ah~ i guess there’s a tutorial first huh? Alright then.”
Just then, a beeping sound came from Y/N’s wristband, indicating that his heart rate just increased, but it seemed that no one has noticed it.
“Okay, Y/N. Let’s see what you can do.” Hyunjin challenged Y/N after the tutorial has finished.
Rounds have passed and it was time for the final boss, as the girls were staring at them in awe.
“I always knew that Hyunjin was good at these kind of games, but Y/N… this is his first time playing this.”
“Really? Wah….”
“Damn it!” Hyunjin cursed as his screen showed game over.
“Aw… it was only a little bit more before the final one. Don’t worry, Hyunjin-ah. You did great.” Chaewon cheering him up as he put the gun back. Meanwhile Y/N is still focusing on his part of the screen trying to finish the final boss.
“Keep going, Y/N!” The girls cheered as Y/N’s swiftly avoiding all of the enemies attacks.
How is he so good at this game? This is literally his first time!! Hyunjin thought to himself.
*shot*
Y/N delivered the final blow as the cut scene for the ending is starting.
“Y/N, are you sure you never went here before? Because you’re really good at this game.”
“I’m more aware to my surroundings, that’s all.” They looked at each other in confusion as to what he said.
“What do you mean?”
“Throughout my life, i’m starting to observe those around me more. I developed their habits so that i can be more of a human.”
“But, you are human, Y/N.” Chaewon said.
“I can’t quite call myself fully human yet, since i don’t really show emotions. Humans are all about emotions, aren’t they? They laugh, they cry, they have fun, sometimes emotional. I have none of those.”
“In that case, don’t worry, Y/N. We’ll make you human. Let’s try and play another game.”
“How about we try and play the claw game? You know, the doll catching one.”
“Ah! Okay, let’s play it!” They headed to the machine filled with animal dolls. “So, Hyunjin! Wanna try first?”
“Sure.” He slides in the coin into the slot as the claw started moving. The timer immediately starts meaning Hyunjin only has exactly 1 minute to hover the claw to where the doll he wants at. He slowly moved it left and right, looking to the side to make sure that the angle is good before hitting the button.
“Okay….. i think this is good.” He pressed the button making the claw slowly going down. It stopped at a doll underneath it and started picking the doll up. It was a success for him. He reached down to pick up the doll from the prize slot.
“Here, Chaewon-ah.” He gave the doll to Chaewon.
“Aww, thank you!” Y/N saw it all. Hyunjin then scoffed at him, as Y/N’s glaring back at him.
*beep*
What was that?
Yena noticed the sound and looked at Y/N’s wrist. She saw the number rising and looked at what he was doing and noticed.
Oohh~
She then whispered to Yuri to tell her what just happened, which drew a smile on her face.
“How about you try, Y/N. You know how to play it, right?” Chaewon said making Hyunjin scoot over.
“Good luck.” He said with a tone of sarcasm. Y/N then puts in the coin and started moving it around trying to choose a doll. He puts 100% concentration into this game making them giggle at the scene. Out of nowhere he taps the button making the claw go down and picked up a puppy doll. Chaewon’s eyes then lit up as the puppy doll went down the prize slot.
“I did it.” He said in an uninterested manner as Chaewon’s gazing at the puppy.
“You.. need this?” He noticed Chaewon’s eyes glaring at the doll. She nodded at his question.
“Here.” He handed her the doll. She picked it up and hugged it in an instant while whining.
“I love puppy! He’s so cute!! Thanks Y/N!”
“You’re welcome.”
*beep*
Yena glanced at the wrist noticing it rise up again, nudging Yuri in the process.
“Yuri, there it is!” She pointed to the wrist.
“Yeah i know! Does he…. you know?” Both of them started laughing like a teenage girls who just talked with a cute boy.
“What’s wrong with you two?” Hyunjin asked.
“Nothing. Just talking among ourselves here, don’t mind us.”
“Whatever. Come on, let’s try another game.” Hyunjin said as he walked to another machine.
Time skip
“Whew! That was fun!” Yena stretched as she got out of the arcade. “Let’s find something to snack on!”
“You’re gonna get fat soon at this rate, unnie.” Yuri said to her teasingly.
“I can go on a diet then. Come on, i’m craving for some brown sugar!” She said whining.
“Okay…”
They walked to a booth where there’s a place they can sit at while having a sip from the brown sugar tea. They decided who would line up to take the order by the classic rock, paper and scissors. 2 people will line up, meaning the rest will get to choose the seat and wait as they lined for the drink. After teaching Y/N the rules and playing a few rounds, Y/N and Yenyul gets to sit as Hyunjin and Chaewon went to the line.
“So, Y/N. Let’s talk for a bit.” Yena said as soon as they sat down. “So, i’ve been monitoring your heart rate when we were playing at the arcade and noticed that there were occasions where it increases. So, when Hyunjin gave Chaewon the doll, how did you feel? You can explain it as best as you can.” They leaned closer to him making him lean back for a bit.
“Well..i think i remember. The best i can say is… i feel hot.”
“Hot?”
“Yeah. For example, the sun is hot. But the…. the thing inside me isn’t as hot as the sun. I don’t know how to say it better than that.”
The both of them got confused glancing at each other, because they can’t come to a conclusion.
“I think i know what that is, but i don’t wanna assume so we’ll let that slide. But try and remember that feeling, who knows there might be a similar one in the future? We can use this as a reference.” He nodded at her guide.
“Okay. This is what i wanna ask you. How did you feel when you give the doll to Chaewon?”
“As for that…. this might sound unusual, but i feel the need to give her another one.”
“Feel the need?” He nodded to both of them. They started thinking for a bit before Yena came to a realization.
“AH! I think i know what he meant. It must be ‘want’!”
“Want?” Yuri asked.
“Yup! Maybe he wants to give her another doll! But he kind of confused it with need. Is that right, Y/N?” She looked at him asking for a confirmation.
“I don’t know. Is that what want is?”
“Yup! Think about it. We need something, which means we want it. But when we want something, it doesn’t mean we need it. For example, we need food to survive, which means we want it. As for want, maybe you want to buy a console game, but don’t necessarily need it to survive, since want is… i can’t say usually, but it’s often based on emotions, i think that’s why he doesn’t know about it. I think that’s the way to explain it. I don’t know how i can explain it any better. This is from an amateur’s perspective, Y/N.” Y/N heard everything loud and clear, as he’s writing it on a mini book he brought.
“I see… that does sound like it. I was thinking it was weird that i felt the need to give her another doll.”
“This sparked an interest to me, Y/N-oppa. You can feel like you need it?” This time, Yuri asked him.
“I don’t. I thought about it logically. For example, when the teachers told me that i need to buy a certain book, that means i need it.”
“Ah… so all this time, you’ve been acting based on logic?” He nodded.
“I see….”
“Can i ask you two more about this stuff later on?”
“Sure, Y/N!” They said excitedly, due to the feeling that they might have made a progress with his emotions.
