Chapter 10: About Yourself
The sunlight on the horizon passed through the military tent, lengthening the projections of the two and pulling the biting cold back up little by little.
Lin Xi picked up the bowl in his hand and put it to his mouth.
The freshly brewed soup was still hot and the leaves of plants also had deadly components for him, but he didn’t care and drank it carefully one by one.
Slowly, his lips regained a little blood color, lightly dyed a thin red.
He is like a docile lamb.
Mu Yechen watched from the side, silently withdrew his gaze, turned over the map behind him, and began to plan his route.
There was silence in the room for a while.
Until there was a loud noise from outside the tent.
“I want to see the commander! Let me go, I want to see the commander!” Someone rampaged outside the tent, knocking over the kettle on the fire rack outside.
The “ping-pong” sound of the utensils hitting the ground shattered the silence in the tent.
“What’s the matter?” Mu Yechen got up and walked outside the tent.
At this time, the shaman of Gaia Village was standing outside the tent. He was pulling with the soldiers and when he saw Mu Yechen, he immediately called out.
“Commander! How long do we have to stay in this place?”
“Two days.” Mu Yechen remembered that he had asked Luo Xiaowei to inform the camp about Feng Chenfeng.
However, the shaman in front of him was not satisfied. He turned back and pointed in the direction of his tent, his face full of resentment.
“Commander, this will definitely not work! Yesterday we spent a night on the sand in the open air and many villagers were sick. It’s too dangerous here!”
Camping in the wild is faced with harsh weather, quicksand, archaea, and alien predators, ordinary people are more difficult to adapt to them than the mutants of the army.
Mu Yechen looked up and saw a stretcher lying in the direction of Gaia Village with three humans already lying on it, while the rest of the villagers surrounded the stretcher praying to the sky with their hands folded.
However, this did not relieve the patient’s pain and suffering.
“We have always been blessed by the Dragon God in the village and we have never been outside. If something happens to them before we reach our destination, how am I going to explain to the Dragon God?” Moraka turned pale with anxiety.
Mu Yechen was silent. He personally walked to the stretcher and checked the medical conditions of several villagers.
“There are spare antibiotics in the team. I asked the medical staff to use them first.” After the examination, Mu Yechen got up and replied.
“Really?” Antibiotics are special medicines for ordinary human beings. Moraka was surprised and quickly asked, “What about the white mouse? You took the white mouse yesterday, how is he now?”
“The white mouse “sounds more like a mouse crossing the street.
  Mu Yechen didn’t speak.
“Is he still alive?” Moraka’s face turned pale, “The white mouse is mine, he is mine, please return him to me.”Â
The boy made an unabashed oath of possession, saying more anxiously. He can’t wait to grab the commander’s neck and speak.
The soldiers next to him immediately stopped him again.
Mu Yechen immediately canceled his plan to let Lin Xi go back: “He’s fine, but he’s safer on my side.”
“No! I want to see the white mouse, I want to make sure he’s okay.”
Moraka continued to insist but Mu Yechen has no plans to communicate with him anymore.
Before leaving, he glanced at the sick civilians and asked Cangjie to replace the simple tents that the civilians had with some military tents and arranged some food and water.
When he settled down the villagers of Gaia and returned to his tent, he found that Lin Xi was already standing at the gate of the tent.
Lin Xi was wearing civilian clothes with straight trouser legs and boots that complemented his long body.
“Why did you come out?” Mu Yechen asked.
Lin Xi’s eyes slowly pulled in from the position of the villagers in Gaia Village and fell on Mu Yechen.
“It’s stuffy in the tent, I want to come out and have a look.” Lin Xi replied.
  Mu Yechen nodded.
Lin Xi was still standing there. He looked at the busy medical captain in the distance and suddenly asked, “Lord Commander, why are you so good to everyone?”
  Mu Yechen was stunned.
“Lord Commander, are you doing this to everyone…” His lips curved slightly looking like a very kind and gentle arc.
Mu Yechen frowned, subconsciously wanting to deny it.
  “No,” he replied.
  Lin Xi looked at him.
“They are human beings living outside.” Mu Yechen thought for a while, “The other side is helping civilians, I am the commander and should provide them with help.”
Lin Xi lowered his eyes, and his expression was drawn into the shadows.
“What about me?” Mu Yechen heard him ask in a low voice.
  “You’re human too,” he replied.
Lin Xi didn’t speak, he turned his head and looked at the small table in the tent.
On the table, there was the empty bowl that he had just drank.
“What’s wrong?” Mu Yechen’s words rang in his ears again.
This tone now sounds obviously unfamiliar but Lin Xi had a moment of naivety before – he felt that he was caring about himself.
“No, nothing.” Lin Xi turned around, “I heard that Lord Commander is the savior of the world and has saved many people, so I couldn’t help but wonder…”
The rising sun was not yet warm, the warm wind blew lightly on his clothes and he smiled at Mu Yechen.
“Thank you Commander… for coming so far to save us.”
  Mu Yechen was taken aback.
He subconsciously felt that this smile was very suspicious but he couldn’t say why.
However, Lin Xi didn’t ask any more questions and he quietly returned to the camp.
He still looked very docile but the light that had just appeared in his eyes gradually disappeared.
Lin Xi began to know that he was a human alien, an unrecognized human being, an executioner who would kill his own kind, and two lines of estrangement from the person in front of him, who would never walk in the same direction.
There was a moment of warmth here, which was his illusion.
He decided not to waste what little time he had left here.
After the body gradually recovered, Lin Xi began to move around the barracks, planning an escape route.
The camp is set on the edge of a sand dune in the desert, where there is low vegetation, which can hide human activities and avoid being easily found by the nearby Xenogeneic foraging.
Mu Yechen set up a temporary barrier here and planned the activities of the villagers in Gaia Village.
But Lin Xi was the one who came out of the commander’s tent and none of the soldiers in the advance troop imposed too many restrictions on his range of activities.
After walking around, Lin Xi found a small dirt slope not far from the east side of the camp.
The soil slope was uneven and looked like ordinary ground, but Lin Xi stared at it for a while. He suddenly crouched down to measure the movement of the ground with his hands and then began to dig sand with his hands skillfully.
After a while, the sand and gravel were scraped open and a row of large eggs hatched in the soil appeared in front of his eyes.
Lin Xi’s eyes gradually lit up and he calmly buried the soil back.
At night, Mu Yechen went out to patrol the camp, leaving Lin Xi alone to rest in the tent.
When the footsteps of the commander and several mutants were far away, Lin Xi got up from the camp bed, quickly turned out the window tent and landed on the sand silently.
The bonfire in front of the camp was bright and no one found him hidden in the shadows.
Lin Xi observed the surroundings secretly again, skillfully dodging two groups of patrolling soldiers, took out a bird egg from the soil slope and came to the other side near the military jeep through the hazy night.
The jeep was the commander’s vehicle. Lin Xi reached out and groped for a while in the trunk, pried off the back seat key, and gently stuffed the bird egg inside.
Then he covered it again with armament and closed the carriage gently.
At this time, a group of soldiers came from the military vehicle.
Lin Xi sideways dodged into the jeep chassis.
“Brother Luo, why do we want to save the white mouse?”
  “Because he looks good!”
“But I heard Big Brother Cang say that he is suspicious of him.”
“That’s also because he looks good.”
“Then why did he keep him on his own.   In the tent?”
“Or because it looks good! If you don’t understand, don’t ask questions.”
  “Oh.”
Lin Xi waited for a while, until the nearby chatter completely disappeared, then got out from the bottom of the car and prepared to withdraw to the military tent.Â
But at this moment, he suddenly caught a familiar figure in the corner of his eyes.   He was stunned for a moment and his pupils quickly focused, but when he saw who that person was, he was stunned again.
The bright moon in the desert is very big and round and the color is very white.Â
Under the moonlight, a young man is worshipping the sky reverently.
This was on the outskirts of the camp, and there was no bonfire around. The boy was trembling all over, but he bowed and bowed nine times relentlessly.
After the ninth time, he took out a crystal-clear test tube from his pocket.
The color of the test tube is red and the mouth of the tube has a diamond-shaped logo with an “L” imprinted.
The teenager put the reagent on his chest and prayed, then gently opened and poured it.
The crystal clear red liquid fell into the water basin like a stream under the moonlight, spreading out circle by circle.
The last drop of the solution was quickly mingled with the water.
The boy got up and left excitedly with the water basin in his hand.
  Liquid spilled from the basin.
The young man was stunned for a moment and then he held it carefully, as if he was caring for a precious treasure.
From beginning to end, he did not notice Lin Xi who was hidden in the dark nor did he see Lin Xi coming to the land where he had prayed after he left.
There are traces of spilled solution on the ground.
Lin Xi picked up a small handful of moist soil and hesitantly put it in his nose to smell it.
  Soon, he discerned the taste.
It was what he had drunk, with a smell of disinfectant and rusted water.
