Chapter 15: Gu Yang
With Mu Yechen’s words, Luo Xiaowei and Cang Jie did not dare to stop him.
Lin Xi continued to coerce Gu Yang to put all the supplies on the sand bandit’s modified motorcycle, he shot and blew the tires of the rest of the car one by one.
Without means of transportation, it would be difficult for the advance troops on the other side to catch up with him in a short time.
What’s more, there were also fight between the alien predators and sand bandits at the scene. Mu Yechen would definitely clean up this mess first for the soldiers.
Lin Xi had more time to escape.
He aimed the gun at Gu Yang’s vital point and ordered him to sit in the driver’s seat in front.
The young soldier had no choice but to start the car as instructed and looked back at Mu Yechen reluctantly.
Mu Yechen stood in the sand with a calm and terrifying expression, looking in their direction for the whole time.
The car drove five hundred meters away and the commander’s figure disappeared at the end of the horizon, never to be seen again.
Gu Yang was very suffocated. He was angry that he was captured by Lin Xi so easily, that he had failed the commander’s expectations, that he had trusted Xiao Bai, and that tears were rolling down his eyes because of it.
But when he was driving the car, he suddenly felt Xiaobai who was sitting behind him leaning up again, pressing his body and head on his back.
His back froze suddenly, thinking that the other party was going to do something again and the tears were quickly held back.
But unexpectedly, after waiting for a long time, Xiaobai still didn’t move. The man who was still vicious just now didn’t say anything and didn’t do anything.
Except that the gun against his vitals began to tremble a little.
He didn’t know why, and drove on the sand road for another hour.
This time, the two of them left the circle of the dust storm and Xiao Bai finally spoke again.
“Stop,” he ordered, his voice not as strong as before.
Gu Yang didn’t dare to refuse, he braked the car and stopped beside a dead tree.
The car stopped and Xiao Bai also got out of the car. He got out of the car very slowly and his steps were staggering. He only took a few steps forward vainly and suddenly supported himself with the dead tree and lowered his head, making a vomit sound.
What he spit out was only a few green undigested leaves and the rest was clear water.
There was a faint trace of blood in the clear water.
“Xiao Bai, what’s wrong with you?”
  “Shut up.”
Gu Yang stopped asking. He never imagined that Xiao Bai, who was so strong before, would become so weak now. He didn’t know whether to take advantage of this opportunity or not.
But Lin Xi didn’t give him too many chances.
As he vomited, he took out the antibiotic from his side tremblingly, stuck a needle in his arm and pushed all the liquid into his vein.
After the body’s physiological reaction was over, he wiped off the residue on his lips and stood up again.
“There is an oasis 300 miles to the northwest.”
  “Oh.”
Gu Yang understood what Lin Xi meant.
Seven hours later, the sun set and the weather began to cool down. The two finally saw a green grove not far away in the desert.
There are no alien species in the woods and in the center of the oasis is a small green lake.
Lin Xi chose a place to perch, tied Gu Yang to a nearby tree and sat down, leaning against a tree.
There was a little twilight in the woods.
Lin Xi let the light hit his body and closed his eyes slowly without taking any measures to keep him warm.
   He was not a human.
That’s how he spends his nights in the wild for many years.
The warmth under the quilt that night was nothing but a distant mirror.
This time, he slept for a long time until he was awakened by a nightmare. The sound of the bonfire bursting next to him pulled his consciousness back little by little.
He found that the time was still night, but someone next to him was burning a water in a fire, illuminating the dark world with crimson fire.
In the field of vision, a young man was holding water with leaves. He looked up and saw that he was about to drink it.
The man’s face was still green but his long eyebrows flew into his temples, with an eclectic elegance.
“The water is full of archaea yet you just drink it like this. If you are not a mutant, your stomach will be dissolved by them.” Lin Xi said subconsciously.
“Ah!” The man in front of him shivered in horror and sprinkled a lot of water from the leaves.
Lin Xi’s pupil light focused little by little, and found that this man’s appearance had changed again, it was Gu Yang who was being held hostage by him.
“How did you get out on your own?” He grabbed the gun beside him.
“Xiao Bai, you haven’t woken up after two days of sleep, I’m so hungry and thirsty.” Gu Yang looked a little stupid and a little pitiful, he scratched his head: “I’m a carnivorous mutant, that little rope is not enough to tie me. “
Lin Xi looked at the tree where he was tied before. Sure enough, he saw a broken rope on the ground.
Judging from the cut of the rope, it was shattered.
  Lin Xi was silent.
  “Genes of predators?”
  “Huh.”
  “What kind?”
  “Bears! I’m super strong!”
It is said that the third-generation mutants have begun to inject a large number of beast genes into the future generations in order to cope with the future confrontation with alien invasion.
Lin Xi looked at Gu Yang’s innocent face and slowly put the gun back.
“There is clean water and nutrient solution on the car, you can take it yourself when you are hungry.” He replied.
Gu Yang made an “oh” sound, then turned around and went to the car to rummage for supplies.
After a while, he trotted back and brought back two water bottles and two servings of nutrient solution.
“Xiao Bai, here it is.” He handed the other one over “You should be hungry too.”
  Lin Xi’s movements stopped.
He raised his head. He looked at Gu Yang and saw a bonfire shining brightly in the young man’s eyes.
“Why don’t you run away?” he asked.
Gu Yang’s smile froze, grief and anger came from his heart.
“I want to escape too, but… but I don’t know the way.”
“And I can’t leave Xiaobai behind.”
  “Why?”
“You shot those two sand bandits, they were going to kill me. You saved my life…”
This stupid guy probably didn’t know that he was the one who chose to hold him to be his hostage in the first place.
The soldiers in front of him were not only the youngest and least experienced among Mu Yechen’s cronies, but also his behavior was not as smooth as Luo Xiaowei’s, he was not as sophisticated as Cang Jie, which was not enough to threaten him in the process of fleeing.
Such people are actually too easy to be used and not suitable for appearing on the battlefield of the advance troops.
“How did you think of being a mutant?” he couldn’t help but ask.
This made Gu Yang’s movements froze slightly. He leaned against the bonfire and think seriously.
After a while, he touched his nose: “I don’t have anything to think about. My surname is Gu, so naturally I came to be a mutant.”
Lin Xi looked at the corners of his eyes, which were somewhat familiar.
Gu Yang grinned and said, “Xiao Bai, you definitely don’t know, I’m the younger brother of Commander Dongcheng.”
Lin Xi knew why Gu Yang felt so familiar to him.
“The commander of Dongcheng used to be called Gu Cheng, he is my brother and many people say we look alike.” Gu Yang said.
“I’m much useless than my brother. I was there when my brother was in the army. When my brother became a mutant and a commander, I’m still there playing.”
“He started commanding the city guards to fight against the mutants at the age of twenty-two. I am almost twenty-two this year. It’s been four years but I still need the protection of Tou, Xiaowei, and Cang.”
Lin Xi was silent, took a sip of water, and got closer to the bonfire.
There used to be ten commanders on the other side but after the cataclysm five years ago, seven died on the battlefield.
Gu Cheng, the commander of Dongcheng, also died at that time.
That day, when the city was full of whales, Lin Xi went to the city gate of Dongcheng and saw Gu Cheng before his death.
It was a picture he never wanted to recall in his life.
Gu Yang wiped his eyes, he blushed and wiped away the tears he was about to shed while hugging his knees.
“Enough about me. Xiaobai, how did you become a mutant?”
“Me?” Lin Xi asked in confusion.
“You are definitely not a normal human.” Gu Yang said firmly, “I know that Cang Jie was recruited because he enlisted in the army and Brother Xiaowei is to become more powerful. How about you? What’s the reason why you’re willing to be a mutant?”
He knew that Gu Yang was the former commander’s younger brother, so he just laughed softly and replied.
“I don’t remember a lot of things. Probably since I remember, no one has ever regarded me as a real human being.”
Gu Yang felt that he might have asked the wrong question.
He immediately added: “Then you can come to our unit. You are good at treating others, we can take care of you.”
“No, I don’t plan to go back to the other side.”
  “Why?”
  Lin Xi didn’t answer.
“Then where are you going?” Gu Yang quickly asked again.
This time, Lin Xi’s expression was a little shaken.
He looked up at the dim sky, with vague hope on his face.
“I have been to a deserted island with a person before. There is water on the island, no alien species, and no archaea. We cultivated an acre of mountain fields there, built a small wooden house, and made an agreement together that we will wait for the future. Leave the other side and go there to live together.”
“Then do you want to go there with that person?” Gu Yang became envy and began to yearn from the bottom of his heart.
  Lin Xi shook his head.
  “He’s gone,” he replied.
Then the wind picked up and the wind turned cold.
  The bonfire was blown wildly.
“How could this happen?” Gu Yang was stunned, he muttered.
“There is nothing in this world that remains unchanged.” Lin Xi turned his head sideways.
“What you think is beautiful now is only for a moment. There is always a way in this world to tear it apart beyond recognition.”
There is no need to mourn, turning your head away is the best option…
Lin Xi’s eyes flashed with fire, thinking of the nightmare he had just recalled.
In the dream, there is the ceiling of the laboratory, there are white lamps, and there is a boy who looks very much like him.
The boy had dense pinholes in his hands, and a doctor in a white coat came over and smeared another layer of iodine on his veins.
He shivered in fear and finally couldn’t help but cry softly.
The doctor raised his face in astonishment and stopped the movements in his hands.
The Doctor’s face wore stodgy black glasses.
He took out a candy from his white coat, carefully peeled off the candy coating and put it in the boy’s little hand.
“Lin Xi, forgive us.” He stroked the boy’s hair and blamed himself in his voice, “You are the only remaining kind and we are forced to do so.”
“There will be hope in this world.”
“When we think of ways to protect human beings, I’ll go and ask the other side to let them out.”
The boy slowly raised his eyes and saw the doctor’s badge.
  Dr. Morsonko.
Morsonko, the proponent of the “Archaeal Tinder Plan”.
That day, he looked at the candy, hesitantly put it in his mouth and tasted a taste he called “sweet”.
Twenty years later, he pushed open the gate of the earth fort.
  Dr. Morsonko.
He quietly watched the group of earth dragons lose their minds and bite at him.
