Chapter 30: Refuge

The east city wall was broken and it was like a flood, which continuously sent the attacking herds inward.

Countless alien species swarmed in and a lion that hit the wall also moved forward with its head.

Its eyes rolled and ran for a few steps in the human city. Suddenly, it separated from the herd and  spread its legs and rushed to the remote corner.

The whole herd was enslaved by the wolves to attack the city. However, the beast did not want to continue to be kicked by the wolves as a ball.

The lion ran fast and disappeared after a while but the herd of beasts it brought over was like an army and gradually spread out in the city.

The herds of beasts entered the city for food, the defenders and advance troops in the east city walls and camps bore the brunt of it.

The two soldiers in front of the camp heard the sound and were trampled into mud by a six-meter-high hippo.

The aliens spread along the city wall and the entire line of defense was completely reduced to a battlefield for soldiers and aliens to fight closely.

    But that’s just the front.

For Dongcheng, a gathering place for humans, the more terrifying threat at this time comes from archaea.

The aliens who enter the city carry these terrifying planetary microbes with them. They came to the city and quietly began to grow and reproduce in this greenhouse.

Less than five minutes after the break from the city, the shrill screams of human beings began to be heard in the east city. The human beings on countless roads rushed in a hurry and began to flee for their lives everywhere.

The other side of Dongcheng began to turn into a Shura field.

    A few hours later.

Almost all the herds outside the city walls poured into the city and the herds at the holes in the wall of Hephaestus gradually became sparse.

In the collapsed ruins, the shards of steel and concrete suddenly swayed a few times and a hand stretched out from the gap, pushed the concrete steel plate above it hard.

    “Bang——”

The steel plate hit the ground, stirring up gray dust and a young man stumbled to his feet from inside.

At this time, the concealing hat on Lin Xi’s head had fallen off, revealing withered white hair with smudged blood behind the white hair, which looked very dazzling.

When he rushed in, he was stunned on the spot, buried under the rubble by the disorganized steel frame and sand.

When he woke up again, he didn’t know how long it took him to faint and didn’t know what happened to Dongcheng after it was invaded by alien species.

He could only shake his head, forced himself to stay awake and went to the hole to check on Xiao Mi’s condition.

    The little midget disappeared.

The city wall collapsed in large numbers and the hole dug by the girl had already been buried and covered. Apart from a few alien species foraging for food, Lin Xi did not see the experimental subject in the red dress nor did he notice the breath of life left nearby.

He stood silently in the ruins, then rushed to the camp module where Mu Yechen was.

However, there was no one in the camp either.

After the city wall was broken, the advance troops’ camp was attacked. Lin Xi saw the corpses of mutant soldiers in the camp, as well as the stumps of the mutants bombed by guns and ammunition.

Mu Yechen has been fighting against alien species for five years. Although the city wall was broken this time, he should have organized his subordinates to fight back.

Lin Xi stood in the camp for a while and decided to turn back and rush to Cang Jie’s house.

Along the way, he saw more alien species and puddles of fresh archaea bacteria began to appear on the ground.

Ordinary humans are almost powerless in the face of alien species, there is no one alive on the road.

Lin Xi easily dealt with a few alien species that attacked him, and suddenly heard a sound not far away.

He immediately stepped forward and found a young soldier carrying two children and escorting a human woman into the alley.

Behind them, there is a group of meat ants chasing frantically.

Seeing this, Lin Xi immediately took out the Phoenix Fire and fired six shots in quick succession.

The meat ant was crushed in an instant, and green mucus was scattered on the road.

The soldier also noticed Lin Xi’s direction and his eyes suddenly lit up.

“Xiao Bai!” He shouted and jumped out of the alley.

The eyes of the women and children behind him also lit up.

This group of people was the family of Gu Yang and Cang Jie.

Lin Xi finally joined them. He looked up and down at Gu Yang, who was covered in sweat and frowned slightly.

“Why are you still outside?” Judging from the way he walked all the way, this area should have been occupied for some time.

His voice was also a little helpless.

“We’ve been to a few shelters but the people inside locked the door and wouldn’t let us in.”

    “Why?”

“They’re afraid that the people who arrive later will be infected with archaea and infect the entire shelter.”

Refugees are a place for ordinary humans to avoid disasters when the alien invades, generally only one vent and one door are installed inside.

There are obvious characteristics of being infected by archaea that can be seen physically. Those people didn’t let Gu Yang and Lu Wan go because they seemed to be suspicious.

Gu Yang and Lu Wan were running back and forth in several shelters like this and probably missed Cang Jie and Mu Yechen’s rescue.

At this time, there were still a few meat ants staring at them. Lin Xi glanced at the surrounding situation and immediately decided to take Gu Yang and Lu Wan to the next refuge.

The three of them ran all the way.

Lin Xi was the first to open the way, responsible for killing the aliens on the road, Gu Yang was responsible for carrying the two children and Lu Wan followed closely behind.

They ran for a while and suddenly passed by the city market. Gu Yang saw the human corpses in the market and suddenly felt an inexplicable panic in his heart.

“Xiao Bai, my brother is also in the city recently, do you think he will have an accident?”

    Lin Xi’s body froze instantly.

    Gu Yang didn’t notice it.

“My brother also disappeared when the tide was around. I’m really afraid that something will happen to him again.”

Lin Xi didn’t speak. He rushed to the front and mechanically cut open the head of a rodent, and suddenly his face changed.

“My brother, he used to…” Gu Yang said worriedly from behind but the next sentence was suddenly covered by Lin Xi’s hand and was suddenly pulled to the corner of the alley.

Gu Yang’s words immediately whimpered back into his mouth.

He saw that Lin Xi made an quite gesture  to him, followed by a long wolf howl that entered his ears.

There was a sudden sound of beasts rushing on the ground. Along with the vibration, a group of huge wolves quickly ran across the road ahead.

On the huge wolf, there seemed to be two figures standing vaguely.

    Gu Yang was taken aback.

The wolves had already stopped at the corner not far from them.

After a while, a little girl’s voice giggled softly.

“Brother, this seems to be one of the human sanctuaries.”

The girl’s laughter immediately made Lin Xi narrow her eyes.

But the next second, another person’s voice made his pupils shaken suddenly.

“The Refuge?” The voice that was talking to the girl was a man’s tone, his voice was soft and sneered softly, “My dear sister, I remember that once the Vault is closed, only the people inside can open it, this thing is stronger than the wall of Dongcheng, we can’t seem to be able to get in.”

He said softly and Gu Yang’s body shook slightly.

The young soldier began to slowly open his eyes and slowly turned his head to look.

The conversation between the wolves continues.

“What’s so difficult about wanting this group of humans to open the door?”

“Sister, do you have a solution?”

“Of course.” The girl smiled, “My brother wants to eat humans and I naturally wants to help my brother beat them.”

A person jumped down from the giant wolf more than ten meters high and landed on the ground lightly.

Lin Xi glanced at the corner of the girl’s red umbrella skirt.

He saw her walking lightly towards the shelter’s vent.

    About thirty seconds later.

The door to the basement of the Refuge was pushed open with a bang and the voice of human despair came from inside.

“An archaea is flowing in from the vent!”

    “Run, someone is infected!”

“How can there be an archaea here… ah… there are wolves outside!’

What they saw were giant wolves and a girl with green eyes entering one after another.

They saw someone pouring out archaea and immediately, they were eaten on the wolve’s mouth one by one.

    “Ah—”

    “Help me—”

“Ah, I don’t want to die—”

Humans screamed louder at the scene. Lin Xi and Gu Yang, who were hiding in the corner could clearly hear wolf teeth chewing humans.

Lu Wan was terrified and hurriedly covered the ears of the two children.

The hell continues here until they heard the little girl’s voice again.

“Brother, look at that person! He is a speaker and he advocates human freedom and human rights every day.”

“Oh? That should be a brain booster?” The older brother’s voice commanded gently, “Asi, eat him. “

“Brother, look at that person! He is the leader, many human parades are organized and planned by him.”

“Okay, Xiaoliu, don’t let him run away.”

“Brother, look at that person! That is from the North District, the administrator’s son! He is also a surveillance officer of the laboratory.”

    “Okay, Xiao Jiu, eat him.”

Almost no one at the scene could escape on the predation of wolves.

Finally someone broke down and shouted: “Brother Lu, no! Brother Lu! Number 37! What are you doing! The laboratory has never treated you badly, so why do you treat Brother Lu like this!”

The girl was still smiling: “Little mutant, Do you really think he will redeem you? I think you like him, so let my brother send you to accompany him, okay?”

She said, looking at the man standing next to the wolf’s head.

The mutant trembled, he saw the death of the surveillance officer and stepped back again and again.

But the man on the wolf’s head looked at him faintly, showing a faint smile.

    “Crack-”

The mutant become silent, replaced by the sound of bones being bitten off.

Gu Yang was shocked, he felt a blind tone in his ears and the surroundings became empty.

He opened his eyes wide and desperately stuck his head out of Lin Xi’s block to look at the man standing on the wolf’s head.

At this time, the man turned his head slightly.

He finally saw the figure that overlapped with his memory and was unforgettable in the market.

That was obviously his brother, Gu Cheng, the commander of Dongcheng.
