Chapter 36: Reunion

The leader’s laughter echoed in the monitoring room and the screen reflected the picture, coldly projecting every corner of the experimental tower.

    Ten years ago…

The same monitoring room, the same display, the same petri dish.

Coral pearl shells, seaweed fluttering grass, and the most primitive and colorful creatures are raised in the nutrient solution.

In front of the huge floor-to-ceiling glass, a young figure came from the dark. His body was perfect and the black training uniform covered his body curves. He stood in front of the table in the monitoring room and reported his situation with his head down.

“Report, the deputy battalion commander of the resistance army has been cleared.”

“The Eastern District Anti-Government Alliance Chamber of Commerce has been disbanded, I have killed their leader.”

“The first team of the anti-human evolution armed mobile team has also been cleared. I follow your instructions. Instructed, cut off their captain’s head, marked the executioner’s symbol and hung it at the door of the resistance camp.”

In front of the table, a middle-aged man in a white coat was writing an investigation report.

“Hmm.” He said, “How many people were cleaned up this time?”

“Including the mutants who failed to be infected, the total number of deaths in the mobile team this time is 72.”

“72 people? I remember that there are hundreds of soldiers in this team.”

The young figure shaked but quickly held his stomach and lowered his head tightly: “Yes, I was ambushed by their commander on the way to track down. They should have heard the news and started to evacuate ahead of time.”

His voice was lowly, the hand that pressed in the abdomen was wet and oozing blood in a short while, the red liquid dripped on the white floor.

The doctor in the white coat looked up.

    “Injured?”

    “Yes.”

“Should I tell you? Your latest data research shows that wound self-healing is not unlimited, every time you use an ability will affect your future lifespan.”

    “Yes, Dr. Mu.”

“Lin Xi, your life is not yours but given to you by the laboratory. Don’t let me see your bloody appearance again.”

    “Yes, doctor. “

“Go back and fix it yourself.”

    “Yes.”

Lin Xi didn’t say much and lowered his head to leave.

But the man in the white coat stopped him again.

“I will reduce your outing tasks from tomorrow.” He suddenly said.

Lin Xi took a light footstep and raised his head hesitantly.

Dr. Mu had already looked back at the desktop. He closed one report and opened another.

“Starting today, your new task is to guide a second-generation mutant, let him further evolve and learn to actively use the skills of heteroblasts like you.”

    “Yes.”

Lin Xi did not object even if he did, he knew that he can’t either.

In his year, the II-generation mutants have been divided into two categories. One is the soldiers who participated in the laboratory program two years ago. These soldiers were used as volunteers for human experiments. Because the reagents were repelled from human genes, they were used by a large number of people.

The other type is the soldiers who participated in the transformation of old humans after developing new reagents in the laboratory two years ago. These soldiers are luckier than their predecessors. They successfully derived artificial heteroblasts, breaking through the physical limitations of human beings and becoming a strong mutant warrior.

The successful development of mutant warriors changed the situation of human beings being squeezed by aliens almost instantly.

Mutants are sent to the battlefield to fight aliens, opening up new dimensions for the human habitation.

This is the Pandora’s Box that brings luck, it has painted a strong stroke in the history of human evolution.

But at the same time, this magic box also brought many criticisms such as the inability of women to become mutants, the mating of mutants and humans to give birth to aliens without human intelligence, and the inability of mutants to actively use artificial heteroblasts, making human reproduction a problem.

Now the labs…they need to find a breakthrough in these problems, just like two years ago.

This breakthrough seems to have come to the head of this human alien again.

Lin Xi nodded silently, signaling that he understood.

Dr. Mu waved the back of his hand at him.

Lin Xi lowered his eyes and left silently.

He held the wound by himself, feeling that the internal organs were about to squeeze out of the opening, so he could only hold the wound firmly and walk slowly through the long snow-white aisle of the laboratory.

He listened to his dull footsteps and dripping blood, and finally moved back to his monitoring room step by step.

But suddenly, he stopped outside the Number 01.

He found someone in his room.

    … An acquaintance.

Two years ago, his room underwent a renovation and the snow-white painted walls had already covered up the traces of the past rulers.

Through the glass window, Lin Xi still saw a handsome man with long eyebrows flying diagonally into his temples, with a green look in his eyes. He was standing beside his bedboard, looking curiously at his place.

Lin Xi’s mind went blank. He stared at the man and his eyes suddenly began to moisten.

The blood tickled down his belly, forming a small pool under the uppers of his shoes.

But his feet seemed to be nailed to the spot, he didn’t dare to move forward and was reluctant to retreat.
