The night was practically sleepless.
You were so consumed by the plan that the possibility of Jade getting back with Beck felt irrelevant.
You were so used to her being yours, without having to worry.
But she wasn’t ever truly yours, was she?
She played the part of being yours, but that’s different from actually being yours.
Only yours.
Not partly Beck’s.
Just yours, and yours only.
You couldn’t quiet your mind.
And the later it got, the more you gave up on even trying to sleep.
Tears slipped from your eyes without you even noticing.
Everything was quiet, even the birds were asleep.
The only sound was the occasional drop of a tear hitting your pillow.
Never had your heart been broken like this. And Jade didn’t even know.
Eventually, around 6 a.m., just an hour before you had to get up for school, you fell asleep.
Dried tears still marked your face.
So when your alarm rang, you could barely open your eyes.
The events of last night were still fresh in your mind.
You didn’t want to go to school because you knew you’d have to face Jade and Beck there.
But staying home would make Jade suspicious.
You didn’t even know if Jade was going to tell everyone that it was all fake.
Surely she would, otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense for her to suddenly get back together with Beck.
But then again, would she really want to tell people?
After all, she was the one who insisted that you couldn’t tell anyone it was fake.
Wouldn’t it be almost weird for all your friends to know?
What would they think?
You two had kissed in front of them, after all.
What would you even say if they asked about that?
You looked in the mirror and groaned at your reflection.
You looked utterly exhausted, dark circles under your eyes, tear stains in the corners.
Could makeup even cover this up?
You threw on a plain hoodie and some jeans that had been lying on your chair all week, not even bothering to make an effort to look good.
Honestly, you felt like you were overreacting to all of this.
It shouldn’t be this hard to see her with Beck.
It wasn’t this hard before, either.
You tried putting on makeup to look somewhat presentable, but quickly gave up when it didn’t help.
As you stepped out of your room to head downstairs, Aimee emerged from her room too.
She looked at you, eyeing you up and down before saying, “My god, Liv, you look terrible. What’s going on?”
You sighed, “Jade and Beck are back together.”
Her eyes widened. “WHAT? Liv, I swear, I’m going to kill Jade. She can’t do this. It’s so obvious she likes you. Why is she even doing this?” She paced back and forth, fuming.
“Calm down, Aimes. What’s done is done. At least now I won’t get any false hope.”
You walked downstairs, relieved to escape the conversation.
You didn’t want to talk about it at all.
Unconsciously, you were waiting for a text from Jade saying she was outside your house, but then you realized, she wasn’t driving you to school anymore.
She wasn’t dropping you off after school.
You weren’t hanging out with her anymore.
It was all really over.
And that reality was going to hit you evenharder once you walked into the school building.Â
