Falling For Him Chapter Thirteen

The next few weeks had been very confusing for Kai. His heart was acting…out of character. Nicolas on the other hand had let free and started codling Kai and calling him all sorts of nicknames that were messing with his head.

Kai was confused. That was the only way to describe it.

He didn’t know exactly how he felt but he did know that he loved it whenever Nicolas would call him with sweet pet names or sneak in a small kiss on his forehead and cheek. The first few times it happened Kai would turn into a flustered mess and stumble over his own words. But now he would just blush and happily smile at Nicolas.

Nicolas had invited Kai for a movie night over at his house since his mom was once again out on a business trip and of course Kai agreed. He had his dad drop him off and when he was standing in front of the front door he made sure to adjust his beanie and fix his hair before ringing the doorbell.

When Nicolas opened the door he smiled widely at Kai and laughed at his red cheeks and nose form the cold.

“Come on in it’s cold.” He said grabbing Kai’s hand and leading him into the house. “I’ll get you a blanket you sit down.”

With that Nicolas made his way up the stairs leaving Kai on the couch. Kai looked at the coffee table that had multiples different kind of snacks and smiled. They were all his favourite.

When Nicolas came back downstairs with a big fluffy blanket Kai stretched out his arms for it. Nic smiled at the adorable actions and sat down on the couch, draping the soft materiel over them. He wrapped his arm around Kai and pulled him close until there was no more space left.

“Mhmm I like this.” Kai hummed, snuggling closer and Nicolas grinned. “Me too.”

As they started watching the movie and snacking on the food Nicolas had prepared, Kai could feel his body starting to buzz. Nicolas’s hand was on his bare neck and he was rubbing slow, sensual circles on it with his thumb. Kai clenched the chip bag in his hands tightly and tried his best to keep his attention on the television.

After awhile he could feel Nicolas’s actions and getting sloppier until they stopped and his hand rested limp. Kai turned his head to look at him and was surprised to find his best friend fast asleep.

He scowled at the fact that Nicolas easily fell asleep after making Kai far from tired. But despite his slight grumpiness, when Kai looked at Nicolas’s smiling face he couldn’t help but smile.

The back of his head was resting on the couch and small breaths were escaping his parted lips. His face looked so peaceful and serene that Kai couldn’t help but reach his hand to cup Nicolas’s cheek. He didn’t pay mind to the movie playing in the background but only on his sleeping best friends. He traced his finger down Nicolas’s cheek to his jaw and then to his lips.

He bit his own lips as he continued to softly rub at Nicolas’s soft pink lip that looked so…kissable.

I want to kiss him.

Kai’s eyes widened at his thought and his heart lurched. He actually wants to…kiss Nicolas. Kiss his best friend.

With his heart racing he brought his face closer to his best friend’s until there was only an inch of space separating their lips from touching.

“I..I can’t.”

Kai let his hand drop and buried his red face in his hands. He couldn’t believe that he was going to kiss Nicolas.

He did want to kiss him. So badly. But Nicolas was asleep and how could Kai possibly do that to his very own best friend? He wouldn’t take advantage of his sleeping state just to ease himself. But now he knew.

He knew that he wanted to kiss Nicolas. And not just kiss him but do everything with him.

What did that mean for him? Was he gay?

Kai tried to calm down and think properly but his mind was just a jumbled mess and he wanted to scream in frustration.

“K-Kai?” A sleep groan brought him out of his trance and he once again raised his head to see Nicolas waking up.

“Is the movie finished?” Nic asked yawning and stretching his arms over his head.

“Oh..yeah yeah it’s finished.” Kai nodded and gave Nicolas a shaky smile.

“You okay?” Nic asked worriedly reaching his arms to hug Kai.

“Yeah I’m okay, just tired.” He mumbled.

“Let’s get you to bed baby.” Nic murmured, scooping Kai up in his arms and going up the stairs, leaving the fluffy blanket behind.

He walked into his room shutting the door behind him with his feet and letting Kai down in front of the bathroom. “Go freshen up and I’ll set the bed up.”

Kai obediently nodded and walked into the bathroom. He looked at his reflection and saw that his face was flushed and his hair was all over the place. He sighed and splashed his face with cold water before brushing his teeth and then splashing his face again because why not?

He padded his way into the bathroom just in time to see Nicolas pulling his shirt over his head. His heart started hammering once again and his breath hitched as he stared at his best friends muscly back.

Nicolas turned around just in time to catch Kai’s dazed face and he smirked a little smugly before concealing his expression. He walked towards his angel and grasped his shoulders.

“You okay there?” He chuckled.

“Uh yeah yeah.” Kai nodded snapping his eyes to look at Nicolas face and not his toned chest.

“Come on stay here and I’ll be back.” Nic said grasping Kai’s hips and carrying him to the bed where he plopped him down making the smaller boy bounce and giggle. Nicolas softly smiled at his adorable boy before hurriedly going to the bathroom so he can get back to Kai as soon as possible.

When he came back he slid into the covers and wrapped his arms around a dozing off Kai, pulling his closer.

“Goodnight baby.” Nic whispered kissing Kai’s head.

Kai smiled in the darkness and shuffled closer.

“Goodnight Nicolas.”

The next morning they had breakfast together before Nicolas drove Kai home. When they parked in front of his house he turned to look at his best friend. His eyes again drifted to Nicolas’s lips and he had the urge to just kiss him.

But instead he opened his arms for a hug and Nic smiled and unfastened his seatbelt to hug him. Kai’s head was settled in the crook of Nicolas neck and after a moment of hesitation he slightly pulled away to leave a small kiss under Nicolas’s ear. 

Nicolas tensed before tightening his arms around Kai even more. Kai decided to kiss him again on the same spot, gauging his reaction and when Nicolas said nothing and made no move to pull away, Kai pressed another kiss onto his skin, this only lasting a little longer.

Kai had no idea what the hell he was doing and where the boldness came from but he didn’t want to stop. Eventually he pulled away from the hug and looked up at Nicolas.

Nicolas’s eyes were darker then usual and there was this…look in them that was so intense that Kai gulped and looked away. But Nicolas didn’t let him, grasping his chin and turning his head so he would look at him again.

They were so close and Kai had no idea what was going to happen. What did he want to happen?

He clenched his fist and waited, and waited and waited until… Nicolas dropped his hand and smiled.

“Your mom must be waiting.” He said and Kai blinked, confused.

“Right.” He nodded slowly. “Um I should get going then.”

“Yeah.” Nicolas agreed.

“Yeah.”

And then they started at each other again until Kai couldn’t take it anymore and unfastened his seatbelt and reached for the car door. Before he could get out Nicolas grapes his wrist and pulled him back to leave a kiss on his jaw. “I’ll see you tomorrow baby.”

“Yeah. See you.” Kai mumbled and got out of the car controlling his smile. He waved one last time before running towards his front door and entering his house.

Once he did he yelled so loud that his mom abandoned her drama to come check if he was alright. “Why on earth are you yelling?”

“Uh nothing. Nothing mom.” Kai grinned before he squeezed his mom in a hug and rushed to his room.

As soon as he was in he grabbed his phone and texted the first person that popped into his head.

I need to talk to you!!!

As soon as Kai entered his house Nicolas slammed his head against the steering wheel and groaned. He took a deep breath to calm himself but his hands were still shaking. Shaking with the need to grab Kai and slam his lips against his. He wanted to kiss his sweet sweet Kai so badly and it took everything in him to not do it.

When he first felt Kai’s soft supple lips on his neck he was very surprised and then when he felt it again and again and again he couldn’t believe it. He was so close to just grabbing the back of Kai’s neck and pulling his lips to his and not ever letting go but he new he couldn’t.

At least not yet.

He could sense the change in Kai’s behaviour these past days and he knew that Kai was finally catching on in his own way. But Nicolas also knew that Kai had to process all of this and he wouldn’t make the first move until he was sure that Kai knew exactly was going on with them.

He was going to wait for Kai to say something or do something before…he took control.
