“Wow…” Kai mumbled as they walked in the bar. It was very big to say the least. There was one side of it that had a few booths and then there was the bar section where some people were sitting. At the other side of the bar, there was a little stage where a band was softly playing music since it was still early to jam out. There was also a dance floor and the whole bar was lit with some kind of light.
“It’s nice right?” Nicolas asked, smiling down at Kai as he looked around with amazed eyes.
“Yeah, it’s really nice!” Kai exclaimed with a grin.
“Since it’s only 9:00 we can grab something to eat or we could sit and wait for Rex and Julie.” Nicolas suggested and Kai pondered over what to do.
“I think they’re selling churros. I want some.” Kai told him.
“Then let’s go get some.” Nic said, grabbing Kai’s small hand and steering him towards where they sold food.
Kai got some churros while Nicolas simply ordered this watermelon smoothie. They quickly found an empty booth where they could sit and eat.
“This is so good!” Kai said with a big grin and when Nicolas looked down at him a laugh slipped through his lips at the sight of sugar smeared around Kai’s lips.
“Baby, you’re getting sugar everywhere.” Nicolas chastised as he took some tissues and wiped away the sugar from Kai’s face making the boy blush in embarrassment.
“Sorry.” He mumbled.
“It’s okay, love.” Nicolas told him with a soft smile.
When Kai finished eating he went to wash his hands as they got sticky and Nicolas decided to text Rex, with the phone that he gave him since his mother still had his, to ask him when they would come.
Rex: sorry we got…distracted. We’re on our way
Nicolas raised his eyebrows at the message before shrugging his shoulders and walking towards the bathroom to get Kai.
Kai got out of the bathroom and smiled at Nicolas who was right in front of the door. They sat back in the booth and Kai rested his head against Nicolas’s shoulder as they quietly chatted.
“We’re here!” They both looked up as they heard Rex’s voice and greeted their friends.
Kai noticed Julie looked rather flushed and her hair that she had carefully brushed looked a bit messy.
“So that’s why you were late.” Nicolas smirked looking at Rex’s equally disheveled state.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Rex said with a grin as he pulled Julie down on his lap as they sat down across from them.
Soon, the music that was once calming turned very loud and upbeat. Julie grinned as she heard it and immediately pulled Rex over to the dance floor.
“Do you want to dance?” Kai asked, looking at Nicolas with wide puppy eyes.
“Come on.” Nicolas chuckled looking at Kai’s face.
They both got up and moved to the dance floor and Nicolas immediately dropped his hands to rest them on Kai’s hips, his thumb rubbing at the bare skin there.
Kai wrapped his arms around Nicolas’s neck as they moved to the music and smiled at each other. Nicolas pulled him closer until his body was completely pressed to his.
Their bodies moved against each other and Kai’s whole being was buzzing at the close proximity.
Soon Nicolas’s face was buried against Kai’s shoulder as he pressed soft gentle kisses on the skin.
Kai tilted his head, enjoying the attention, not caring where they were. He knew no one would pay mind to them as they were too absorbed in each other.
After a while of dancing Kai got thirsty and he slowly pulled away.
“I’m going to go get something to drink.” He said moving his lips closer to Nicolas’s ear so he could hear him.
“I’m going to go to the bathroom then.” Nicolas said and Kai nodded.
They parted ways and Kai curiously walked to the bar section as he wondered if they sold anything that was non-alcoholic.
As he looked at the options he felt someone’s presence behind him and turned around. There was a boy that looked to be a bit older than him that looked him up and down with glinting eyes that immediately made Kai take a step back.
“Can I buy you a drink?” The stranger asked with what was supposed to be a dazzling smile but only made Kai uncomfortable.
“No thank you.” Kai mumbled.
“Would you care for a dance then?” The man asked again and Kai internally groaned.
“I’m good.” He said with a small fake smile.
“Come on, don’t be so hard to please. One dance won’t hurt will it?” He pushed again.
As Kai was about to tell him he wasn’t interested he felt a pair of hands rest against his waist from behind and someone pulled him to their body.
He looked behind him, alarmed but when he saw Nicolas smiling at him he relaxed and turned back to the man as he let himself melt into Nicolas’s arm.
“Did you get your drink, baby?” Nicolas asked, resting his chin against Kai’s shoulder and stared at the man.
“I tried to but this guy kept interrupting me.” Kai pouted and the stranger flushed with embarrassment.
“Well let me get you something then. And then we can go dance again hm?” Nicolas asked, kissing Kai on the spot that was under his ear.
“Okay” Kai agreed just as the man turned around and disappeared in the crowd making Nicolas’s body shake in laughter.
“He really thought he had a change with a beauty like you.” Nicolas chuckled, standing straighter and pulling Kai around to face him.
“And you do?” Kai grinned cheekily.
“You’re already mine baby.” Nicolas smirked, leaning down and kissing Kai, a part of him hoping the man was watching from the crowd.
“Weren’t you jealous?” Kai asked after they pulled away.
“Hmm a bit?” Nicolas answered and Kai stared at him, unimpressed.
“I was more amused. He was trying quite hard and I know that you would never even consider his offers but I still wanted to show him that you’re already taken.” Nicolas explained and Kai smiled.
He knew if someone tried to hit on Nicolas he would have been really upset but he also knew that Nicolas would simply walk away, he never let anyone even attempt to flirt with him.
Nicolas bought Kai a drink that was quite sweet and Kai quickly finished it and then they moved back to the dance floor as the clock struck closer to midnight.
They resumed their earlier positions and Kai was feeling very giddy from all the sweets he had consumed that day. It made him loosen up a bit and made him braver.
So he grabbed Nicolas’s face and pulled him in a kiss. Nicolas was shocked but immediately kissed Kai back as they both smiled. They pulled away with grins and laughed before Nicolas pulled him back in a sweet kiss. They kissed with smiling lips occasionally pulling away because Kai would start giggling and then they would pull each other back in.
If someone saw them they would assume they were drunk, the way their smiles were so wide, the way they clumsily kissed, not caring how odd they looked. All they cared about was each other.
“I love you.” Kai mumbled in between kisses.
“I love you more.” Nicolas replied, tightening his arms around him as he hoped that they could always stay like this. Happy and peaceful.
They weren’t drunk on alcohol. They were drunk on each other and they both at that moment desperately wished that they could always stay like this. They found forever in each other and would fight anyone who would try to take that away from them.
As people started counting down the seconds until a new year started Kai hugged Nicolas tightly.

Nicolas pulled Kai away from the hug and cupped his face in a gentle hold.

Kai smiled and moved his hands so he could clutch at Nicolas’s waist.

Nicolas lent down until their forehead were pressed together.

Kai leaned up on his toes until their noses were rubbing against each other.

Nicolas moved one of his hands at the back of Kai’s head and buried his fingers in his hair.

“I love you.” Kai whispered, his voice drowning in the shouting of the crowd but Nicolas caught them.

“I love you.” Nicolas whispered back as he rubbed Kai’s red cheek.

“Promise to stay with me forever?” Kai asked.

“Promise.”

They both leaned forward until their lips were once again pressed against each other in a kiss and Nicolas rubbed away the tear that fell from Kai’s eyes as he deepened the kiss.
