Foreign Spotlight A Sky Full of Stars

Y/n POV

“You got this boy when it’s your turn, just be yourself, and good luck!” The cameraman that has been assigned to me said, motivating me to do well, in my debut.

Now that the day we’ve been waiting for has arrived, all pressure has been passed to me. All the hard work of the staff, all the endless editing of the producers, the marketing strategies of the CEO, and now, it is all up to me. While waiting for the recording of the show, the cameraman went to my waiting room to ask me about my performance, so that he could do some tricks from his sleeves.

“Thank you for your kind words! I will strive to do well!” I said with energy, making him nod happily. After that, he said goodbye and left the room.

“How’s your first interaction with a staff?” Eunji noona asked as she giggled and put a bottle of water on the table in front of me.

“Feels nice, I think he’s a good man,” I said with a smile and Eunji noona nodded.

“He is, that man is usually assigned to Starship back then. Good feedback coming from him,” Eunji noona said. I breathed deeply and nodded, showing noona a small smile.

“You nervous?” Eunji noona asked me and I rapidly nodded.

“Want to call your fake girlfriend,” Eunji noona snickered.

“Bad time to make a joke noona!” I exclaimed, making her laugh at me.

“Yeah yeah~ Laugh noona! Ha ha!” I said in a sarcastic voice but then, the door to my waiting room opened and revealed

The one and only Kim Minji from the K-pop group, New Jeans.

“Would you look at that, she’s here!” Eunji noona exclaimed making me giddy.

“Minji!” I jumped and exclaimed, going to Minji to hug her

“So much for a fake boyfriend,” Eunji noona joked making Minji laugh.

“Hey! He’s attractive too you know! Also, he is a good kisser,” Minji said and I looked at them weirdly.

“Is this how girls normally talk?” I asked and they nodded immediately.

“You need to learn more Y/n. Especially that you are surrounded by beautiful ladies,” Minji said as she tapped my cheeks.

“Are you beautiful?” I asked and Minji smiled.

“Gorgeous!” Minji said cutely, making my attempt to joke fail. She may not be my girlfriend but damn her features are enough to lure you into her cutie trap.

“You know what? Why am I even gonna argue?” I sighed as Minji giggled and hugged me while she began to laugh harder.

“Hehe~ Y/n is weak for me?~,” Minji wiggled her eyebrows making me look at her uninterested.

“My ass is shaking in nervousness and here you are boasting yourself?!” I exclaimed making the two girls in the room laugh.

“Aish, you don’t need to be nervous Y/n. Also, we have your friends to support you,” Eunji noona said making me ask myself, who?

“Yujin, Wonyoung, The Fimmies, and even Joshua sunbaenim are here,” Minji said as she fixed my hair.

“Wow, damn. I must present a good show huh?” I muttered and Minji grabbed my face and decided to kiss me, making me reciprocate her actions.

“W-woah. T-that f-feels nice?” I said as we parted our lips making Minji giggle and playfully booped my nose.

“Of course that’s nice, it’s a kiss dummy,” Eunji noona said making me scoff at her.

The morning continued with me and Minji talking and laughing while Eunji noona was stressing about the schedule and talking with the director. Not long after, the makeup crew entered my room to enhance my face’s features.

Minji then took the lead role in my makeup which surprised me. With no bad reactions from the makeup crew, they followed Minji’s commands and I have to say, the girl has been watching how she is being worked on. From the hair, tint, lips, and even powder, Minji directs it and the finished product goes well with my concept. After about an hour, the makeup was done and now, I’m looking at myself in the mirror.

“Wow… Is that me?” I muttered as Minji held my cheeks and she smirked.

“How can you live without me, baby?” Minji said and I stole a peck from her lips, making her blush.

“W-what is t-that!?” Minji shrieked as she fanned herself from my actions. Giggling at the flustered girl, the door to my waiting room opened once again, and this time

Yeah, you know who she is.

“Oppa! You are the lucky one who is chosen to be in my vlog!” Eunchae barged with a bright smile that would literally drain the negativities away.

“Lucky?” I questioned and Minji sat on the chair beside me.

“None from New Jeans and you will be the first one from Ador!” Minji cheered making the younger girl giggle.

“Unnie! How are you?!” Eunchae then went for a hug and Minji hugged her tightly. She is really a baby.

“Well, sure. I mean, It’s an honor to be in Eunchae’s Diary,” I said and the maknae smiled widely.

We then talked for a bit with Minji and Eunchae giving some tips on how I can improve my techniques for my debut stage. Listening like a puppy, I take note of their pieces of advice mentally and prepare myself as my debut stage is nearing.

“Good luck boy! Let’s have a good show!” The director said to me while we here in the backstage. Nodding in response, the stage lights were then turned off meaning that it was my turn.

Taking a deep breath first, I then made my way to the stage, and the first thing I saw was the crowd with some holding a lightstick for the group or artist they were supporting.

As nervousness began to enter me once again, I saw a row in the crowd that sucks the nervousness out of me. There, a covered Wonyoung, Yujin, Chaewon, Kazuha, Yunjin, Sakura, and Joshua hyung were seen. Since the studio is not that big, you can see the faces of the people inside.

Smiling as I saw them, my backup dancers entered the stage too with everyone tapping my back, giving a gesture of good luck, making me feel at ease once more. We went to our positions and there, the director nodded and opened the stage lights again. The screams of support were heard and some of the people in attendance were now waiting for the debut of the soloist who shares the company with the popular K-pop group New Jeans.

Taking a last glimpse of the non-idol point of view, I breathed and calmed myself. Closing my eyes and letting my determination take over me, now I’m ready. Ready to take this foreign spotlight in front of me.

Kazuha POV

So this is what a fan feels like. Waiting for idols to come out of the stage and the production crew is taking out some props to add details to the performances. After some performances, the turn of Y/n is the next one.

With some of his friends and some label mates, I can imagine the pressure he is experiencing right now. Just as his performance was about to start, Minji emerged with a face covered by a mask and a beanie. How did I know it was her? Both are from HYBE.

“Hey, he is good and ready to go,” Minji said to the group.

“I’m so excited for him!!! AHHHH!!!” Yujin exclaimed like a puppy while Wonyoung was containing her leader from the sudden outbursts.

“You’re really excited to see him huh?” Kkura-chan said to Yujin making the latter nod.

“Yeah! I saw him trying his best when he was in Starship, seeing him about to debut gives me some pride and happiness that I have another friend who will achieve his dream,” Yujin said with a smile as she looked at the stage.

“The two became friends at the start so it’s reasonable why she is like that,” Chaewon unnie whispered to me, making me nod.

The stage lights then opened and Y/n with his backup dancers was seen in position.

The melody of the song played. The upbeat song began to hype the crowd as cheers and claps were now heard and continues to be loud.

A debut is an artist’s greatest fear as for some, they need to beat some kind of expectations that the public put on them, yet the element of surprise is one that should factored in. The audience can only predict by the teasers so it is up to the artist how to elevate their performance.

With Y/n’s debut, he showed a little bit of both. He is not the best when it comes to dancing but is an absolute beast in singing. As he sings, the details of the fire and angsty look solidified his first public performance.

Though we don’t know each other well, you can see his hard work, passion, and determination. Smiling at this, Y/n continued his performance with flying colors.

The crowd began to hype up again, treating the performance like a disco place which is so unlikely for this country.

I looked at my members with Yujin, Wonyoung, and Minji and they were vibing with Y/n’s debut song, still careful of their identity. As something clicked in my mind, the look at Y/n ignited a spark in me.

The sense of gratitude hits me again, I suddenly remembered the journey I took to be in this stage of my life. Thankful for the people, fans, and most of all, my family.

Y/n POV

As the last formation of the performance took place, I now felt the surge of energy from the crowd and just like that, the endless nights of being fatigued, collapsing on the dance floor, and scolding from my instructors. It all became worth it.

The music stopped and the cameraman that was assigned to me waved his hands, signaling to make an ending pose.

Don’t know what to do, I just smiled and looked at the camera, letting and hoping my aura was enough for the viewers. The crowd cheered more than I expected and it’s just so amazing to see.

The performance was now over and me with my backup dancers bowed in front of the crowd before they surrounded me and cheered in joy and excitement.

Smiling at this feeling, my heart warmed and it was like my surroundings came to my back and just supported me.

Looking at the stands again, the lights that shine, enough to be seen now look like stars. How amazing is it to have many stars in the night sky that shone majestically and pleasing for everyone.

Every one of the stars has a part in the sky, and I wondered, would I shine like a star?

Looking at the row where people who helped me sat. Their eye smiles were seen and evident. Not long after, me and the band exited the stage and the staff clapped and extended their congratulatory greetings to me for a good debut.

Thanking them, it lasted several minutes before going back to my waiting room. As I was passing the hall, a hand grabbed me and immediately, a soft feeling was felt on my lips.

Surprised by the feeling, the hand that belonged to a girl whom I treasure at this point was seen pouring it all in this kiss. Deciding to kiss back, I put my hand on her neck, deepening the kiss that was commenced by her.

With each of us radiating joy and glee, the kiss was not for love but a manner of appreciation for one another. All times that we stayed by each other’s side, all those times where we cherished and strengthened the relationship of friendship.

When I needed the guidance, she was there. She was more than ready to take care of me when I joined the company, as payment, I will take care of her too.

Savoring the sweet kiss, the strawberry-flavored lips make me to crave for it more. She puts her hand around my neck and there, everyone who does not know us will mistakenly think that we are a couple.

The blissful moments have their end too. Soon we parted from the beautiful kiss and looked at each other’s eyes. There we see the reflection of pride oozing out but with the anchor of humbleness and humility.

“Damn you are such a good kisser Minji,” I said making the girl giggle.

“Miss me that much?” Minji innocently said while puffing her cheeks and… she actually looks like a penguin.

I poked her cheeks as it was so irresistibly cute making me want to deflate it. The girl giggled at me and then dragged me to my waiting room. I didn’t have the time to ask questions but as soon as the door opened to my room opened.

The pops of confetti and strings of party things greeted me. The people that I saw in the row of the crowd were now in there with big smiles on their faces.

The smile unconsciously crept on me and the grin I have is immeasurable in my heart.

Sacrifices are made to test everyone but in those dark times, we can see how a person shines. Like how a sky full of stars presents itself to the creatures below them.

“Congratulations Y/n!!!!!”
