Daou POV

Daou knew what he was doing wasn’t a good idea but damn it he needed to know. He waited for the ding on his computer to sound off notifying him of the background check that he had ordered on the omega had arrived. He could still feel the pain in his balls from earlier in the day. He just wanted answers he didn’t mean to overstep. Part of him did feel bad. He knew what an asshole he was in college. He slept with whoever and didn’t care about the aftermath. Maybe he did take his virginity? Daou thought. He had an M.O once waking up in a strange place with a naked body next to his he would throw some cash down enough to cover a cab to the other side of Thailand if needed go down to the front desk pay for an extra night in the room no matter the cost and then crawl into the back of a cab and head back to his condo. But for the life of him he couldn’t remember sleeping with this omega, Offroad Kantapon, he knew his name finally and it still didn’t ring any bells.

*Ding*

Daou sat up in his chair quickly opening the report. Skipping over the basic information trying to figure out where he would have known this omega from when he found it. They attended the same college for, it appeared, about a year. His junior/senior year too, and not the better part of his junior year, the worst part where Daou had slept with everything that moved almost. According to the background check he transferred back to his hometown and finished his degree.

Daou felt like shit. He really wanted to apologize to the boy but now he was also still really confused, what was this omega to Diamond? Daou knew he wouldn’t care if Diamond was anything other than an alpha but he didn’t like the fact that an alpha was hanging around the omega. Daou sighed knowing there were 2 people who would answer his questions but was he ready for the chaos that came with reaching out to them? Daou pulled out his phone, his finger hovering over Mang’s number. Before he immediately scrolled up to find Films number and clicked call. He just wanted answers. He felt like everyone knew something but him and he couldn’t stand it anymore.

…..

“Come in,” A deep voice called from the other side of the door Daou had just knocked on. Daou was able to steal 15 minutes of Film’s time and he wasn’t about to waste it. Film was older and was a domineering man just like his father. Daou respected the man in a business sense but he had heard horror stories from Mang about her brother who was constantly getting into fights and torturing her and Diamond.

“Thank you for seeing me,” Daou said, walking into the office and taking a seat. Film was flipping through paperwork in front of him and he gave Daou a nonchalant hand wave.

“What do you need? I have a conference call in,” Film glanced at his wristwatch, “10 minutes.”

“Right, I’ll make this quick,” Daou said, clearing his throat. “Is Diamond seeing anyone?”

“No,”

“Are you sure?” Daou asked, now even more confused.

“Not that my little brother’s relationships are any of my business let alone yours, but no he isn’t, why?” Film said, sighing as he continued to make notes on the papers in front of him. “Don’t tell me you’re into alphas now?”

“I mean I have dabbled,” Daou laughed but it was quickly cut off as Film gazed up at him without lifting his head making the man look like he was about to commit murder. “Sorry no, I’m not interested in him, I just have seen him with an omega and was concerned.”

“Oh really?” Film asked going back to his work. “Why is that?”

“Well this omega seems to be quite older and has a kid,” Daou said, noticing the pause Film had in his page-turning. “I just don’t want anyone taking advantage of him,” Daou said, his words slowly trailing off as Film finally lifted his head to make eye contact with him.

“Your tone is implying you know this omega?” Film asked his head tilting in slight confusion, eyes focusing like he was studying him. It made Daou want to squirm in his seat.

“From college and mutual friends,” Daou answered him once again, feeling the need to clear his throat once more.

“Oh, it’s you. I see it now. Now it makes sense,” Film chuckled and returned back to his paperwork.

“I’m sorry, what makes sense?” Daou asked, confused at Film’s statements.

“Thank you for your concern Daou but it is not needed.” Film said sighing and making more notes.

“Do you know Offroad too?!” Daou asked, letting a slight growl out unintentionally. He was just getting more annoyed at the amount of alphas who were hanging around the omega. Film stopped what he was doing, closing the binder in front of him, and leaned back in his chair.

“He is overseeing your purchase of our Bangkok branch is he not?” Film asked, eyes narrowing at Daou.

“Yes,”

“Then let him do his job and be on his way,” Film said but it left Daou with more questions. He opened his mouth to speak but was silenced by Film’s hand. “Until he leaves, stay away from him.”

“Excuse me?” Daou was taken aback by the instruction and tone in which Film had used. His intercom beeped signaling him that the conference was starting and he needed to join.

“Have a good day Daou, and please refrain from meddling in my family’s affairs.” Film said waving him out the door and dismissing him. Daou stood and walked out without another word. He knew while Film was cold and heartless he was extremely protective of his family and arguing with him would do no good and would ruin their business relationship. But now Daou had even more questions who the fuck was this omega and why was everyone so secretive about him. And that’s when Daou realized that maybe it wasn’t the omega they were protecting, maybe it was the boy. Daou had heard from Mang that her father was always the talk of the town because of his affairs. Word on the street was the Director had a thing for pretty betas and omegas. Now it was starting to make sense! It would also explain how the omega had become one of the top analysts so quickly in their company. Daou grinned to himself as he got back to his car. He knew what they were all trying to hide now.

Offroad POV

Offroad stared at his phone as it rang. He thought he was seeing things as Film’s name appeared on the screen. Why was his oldest brother calling him?

“Hello,” Offroad said in a shaking voice answering the call.

“Hilltop restaurant 7 pm.” Film’s voice came through quickly before the call disconnected. Offroad pulled the phone away from his ear in confusion. As he turned to glance at Poon.

“Who was that?” Poon asked as he worked on the kitchen table opposite of him.

“Film,” Offroad said, still in shock. He had barely said 10 words to his oldest brother in over a decade.

“What, why is he calling you?” Poon asked, making a confused face.

“I don’t know he just gave me a restaurant and a time to be there tonight,” Offroad answered him.

“Can I come, Daddy!?” Chance asked from over the back of the couch

“What did I tell you about listening to other people’s conversations?” Offroad sighed. His son was a nosy boy. He liked to listen and repeat at the most inappropriate times. “And no, you’ll stay here with Uncle Poon.”

“Why?” His son asked, whining. “I wanna see Uncle Film.” Offroad sighed due to his son’s attachment to Diamond his son had seen more of his older brother in his almost 6 years on this earth rather than Offroad had in his almost 25. He didn’t know why his son liked the stubborn heartless man but Film had never said a mean word to him and he wasn’t going to rob his child of any more relationships.

“Cause it’s for work.” Offroad sighed. “You don’t mind watching him do you?” Offroad asked Poon.

“Of course not,” Poon smiled at him. “We will have a Jurassic World movie marathon!” Offroad laughed as his son screamed with excitement. The boy loved his dinosaurs. He watched his son dance around happily going from the room they were sharing in the meantime to the living room bringing out all his Dino toys. Offroad really couldn’t wait to get back home being in the city near his family and right under Daou had him walking on eggshells and he didn’t like it.

….

Offroad arrived at the restaurant a few minutes passed and was immediately taken to a huge back table where Film sat with a bottle of wine and stacks of paperwork. Diamond had mentioned in passing the workaholic type their older brother had become in recent years, and it seems to be true.

“You called?” Offroad asked, taking a seat.

“Where is my nephew?” Film asked, flipping through paperwork and holding his glass of wine.

“With Poon, I figured this was a business call, not a personal one,” Offroad said, rolling his eyes.

“Why would you assume that?” Film asked, glancing up from the paperwork.

“Because we haven’t spoken to each other in a decade our only communication is through Father or Diamond.” Offroad scoffed.

“But yet you let your son come around me?” Film asked. Offroad was now getting confused as to why he was called here and why Film was asking so much about his son.

“As long as you don’t say or do the stupid shit you did to me as a kid I don’t see why I should rob him of a relationship.” Offroad sighed signaling the waiter for a glass.

“Oh, you weren’t special in the treatment you received as a child. And you say that as if you have already robbed him of one.” Film said finally sitting back glaring at Offroad finishing his cup of wine.

“Why were you so awful to us?” Offroad asking the question he had wanted to know the answer to for years.

“Was it not obvious?” Film laughed. “I was the only child who wasn’t an affair baby.” Offroad stared in confusion at Film. “Jo is not my mother.” Offroad’s eyes grew wide in shock. Film, Mang, and Diamond all looked so much alike he just assumed. “My mother was the first wife, who after finding out her husband had cheated on her and knocked up another woman thought driving home drunk was a good idea and wrapped her car around a tree.”

“Oh my god,” Offroad said, covering his mouth in shock. “I didn’t know.”

“No one does really, still wasn’t a reason for me to be a shithead as a child and for that I am sorry, and I am thankful I am allowed to be in my nephew’s life. But no this is not a business meeting.”

“Then what? I know you didn’t call me here to just apologize?” Offroad asked his confusion growing.

“You know I never believed the whole premature birth story,” Film laughed. “I knew that you had our Father transfer you due to getting pregnant and the father wanting no business with you or the baby but it wasn’t my business so I went along with the story. That was until it walked into my office today.”

“What do you mean?” Offroad asked, feeling the panic rise in his chest and throat.

“See I knew that when father orchestrated that engagement for Mang it was going to blow up in his face, but I didn’t expect it to blow up like this.” Film said leaning on his elbows and placing his head on his hands.

“Orchestrated?” Offroad asked, swallowing the lump in his throat.

“Oh, you didn’t know? I guess because you didn’t stick around. Daou’s father begged ours for help to calm his wild child son down before he made headlines with his extracurricular activities and headlines started appearing. That whole fake engagement lasted about a month.”

“Fake engagement?”

“Yup, his father was worried that headlines like Daou Pittaya heir to the X Group knocked up an omega out of wedlock.” Film said, raising an eyebrow at Offroad. ‘Shit’ Offroad thought. “You know I would have never known if he hadn’t walked into my office today.” Film laughed.

“He visited you?” Offroad whispered.

“He was very concerned for our little brother and the company he was keeping.” Film laughed as the waiter arrived to fill his and Offroad’s glasses with more wine. “Chance is the spitting image of Daou.”

“Please tell me you didn’t say anything.” Offroad pleaded with his brother.

“Do I look like an idiot? Because father would have my ass again for upsetting his precious omega son.” Film scoffed taking a drink of his wine.

“I’m sorry his what?” Offroad said taken back once again.

“My god you really are naive.” Film sighed, sitting his cup down. “If you called father right now he would pick up would he not?” Offroad didn’t even have to think before nodding yes. His only communication with his father was by phone. “I could call him repeatedly for hours so could Mang or Diamond and that bastard wouldn’t pick up the phone.”

“Why?” Offroad asked confused.

“He adores you, you are most like him.” Film laughed.

“I am not!” Offroad almost screamed.

“Well well well, what do we have here?” A voice called and it had Offroad groaning. He knew that voice.

“Daou twice in one day, what a surprise.” Film said into his wine glass sarcastically.

“I’m here meeting with a colleague, what are you two doing here?” Daou asked, raising an eyebrow and keeping his eyes locked on Offroad.

“I believe I told you earlier, where you could stick that concern.” Film answered before Offroad had a chance to. “Enjoy your dinner,” Film smiled at him. Offroad watched Daou storm off to the other end of the restaurant. “You need to get a handle on that.” Film said to Offroad, who just groaned smacking his head against the table.

“What am I supposed to do?” Offroad asked Film.

“My advice? Tell him like you should have years ago. See alphas are strange creatures,” Film chuckled. “Even if we forget, our sub-gender remembers and that man’s alpha knows in some way it has a claim over you. Just as your omega sub-gender knows as well.” Offroad made a face at his brother. “You relaxed the moment you scented him. Tell him or keep Chance far away from him before his alpha side realizes that he has a claim on him as well.”

Offroad groaned even louder as his head smacked against the table even harder. Why was this happening to him?

Daou POV

Daou watched from afar as Offroad and Film separated. More like watched as Offroad loaded a very drunk Film into his car. Daou had watched the man down almost 3 bottles of wine. He didn’t plan on running into them here. Okay so maybe he knew this was Film’s favorite restaurant and he hoped that after visiting with him today the way he responded to Daou poking his nose about was to call the omega and have a chat with him proving Daou’s theory correct.

“I know your secret,” Daou smirked, leaning against the pillar as Offroad walked past he could immediately sense the panic radiating off the omega. “Don’t worry it’s safe with me.”

“And what secret is that?” Offroad turned to ask him pale as a ghost.

“Who your boy’s father is.” Daou smiled at Offroad like the cat who ate the canary. “Makes sense with how quickly you climbed the corporate ladder.”  Daou watched the boy’s face turn from scared to confused.

“What?” He asked, giving him a look that now had Daou thinking he had said something wrong.

“I mean it makes sense with you knowing Film, Diamond, And Mang.” Daou stuttered out.

“I’m sorry, what is your god-awful theory involving my son and who his father is?” Offroad asked now with a defense and protective tone taking a step towards Daou. Daou wanted to shield his private areas as he felt they were about to get kicked once again.

“The Director is your son’s father,” Daou said, wincing, closing his eyes preparing for the inevitable pain, but all he heard was gut-wrenching laughter coming from Offroad. He opened his eyes to see the boy holding his stomach, he was laughing so hard.

“Oh my god, you really had me going there for a moment.” Offroad laughter came to an end as he wiped away the tears that had formed at the corner of his eyes. “First of all, I climbed so high in this company because I’m fucking good at my job and graduated at the top of my class with honors not because I fucked my way to the top or was born with my position already given to me.” Offroad stepped forward and Daou stepped back knowing full well he now had a very pissed-off omega on his hands. “Secondly, my son is none of your fucking concern.”

“You’re right,” Daou sighed trying to defuse the situation. “It’s none of my business. I just feel shitty about what I potentially did to you in college and I don’t know how to apologize for it.”

It was then a look of realization that appeared across the boy’s face that turned into pure rage. Daou swallowed the lump that had now formed in his throat. “Did you run a fucking background check on me?”

“I just wanted to know where I knew you from, that was all,” Daou said, now backed up against the pillar.

“Oh, really, and what did that background tell you? We went to the same college for a year. That you think we fucked? Guess what we did and it meant nothing! It means so little you had to run a background check on me to find out who I am!” Offroad screamed, flinging his arms around in anger. “We didn’t matter to you then so why do you care now?!” Offroad shouted, and those words immediately triggered Daous’ alpha instinct to claim, he could hear the voice in his head screaming, “We care, ours, ours, he’s ours!” over and over had Daou lurching forward and crushing his mouth against the omegas. Daou immediately felt his body relax as Offroad’s scent surrounded him, it was no longer a scent, he could taste it. He could hear his own moan as he dove deeper into Offroads mouth, who to Daou’s surprise was not fighting back. Daou pulled back from the kiss looking down at Offroad whose eyes were glazed over, his cheeks red, his mouth slightly parted panting, and that when it hit Daou, the smell of lust. Daou growled as he bent his head once more to continue kissing the boy when he was shoved backward. Offroad gave Daou a look that looked like longing, sadness, and anger rolled into one. “Stay away from us,” Offroad whispered before turning and running to the taxi that had pulled up to the curb.

“Wait!” Daou screamed after him but was unable to make it to the taxi before it sped off. Daou kicked at the ground, he had no clue what to do now.
