Offroad POV
“CHANCE!” Offroad yelled from the kitchen. “Let’s go! We are going to be late,” Offroad grabbed the boy’s backpacks and took Charlie by the hand, and waited by the garage door for his oldest child. “Chance!” Offroad yelled once more.
“I’m coming!” He finally heard his son call. “Have you seen my switch?”
“You are still grounded,” Offroad reminded his son. Chance liked to play his games on the way to and from school but Offroad was not budging on any electronics other than TV, which neither of his kids really watched.
“Come on man!” Chance growled as he rounded the corner.
“You can have my switch Chance,” Charlie said offering his to his brother.
“I don’t want to play baby games,” Chance said, rolling his eyes.
“Hey, watch it, or lose everything for another week,” Offroad warned his son. “Now let’s go,” Offroad said, ushering his kids into the car, helping Charlie into his booster seat as Chance took the front seat in front of his brother. Offroad finally was able to get to his seat starting his car and pulling out of the garage.
“I don’t understand why I have to go back to school, I can stay home,” Chance pouted. The last few days Chance had been glued to Offroads side as he was home and Offroad didn’t mind one bit. It reminded him of when Chance was younger and the boy did know what the word separation was.
“Because school is important and you get to see your friends today,” Offroad informed his son.
“They are just going to fight with each other again,” Chance huffed.
“Can Jay come over again to play with me?” Charlie asked from the back seat and Offroad saw his son’s body snap backwards to be able to glare at his brother behind him.
“He is your brother and he is 5 young man,” Offroad warned his son.
“I am almost 6!” Charlie protested from the back seat.
“Yes, you are! In a couple of months,” Offroad smiled at his son in the rearview mirror. “What kind of theme do you want for your birthday?”
“Farm!” Charlie shouted. Offroad had already guessed he would pick this one as the boy saw the movie Charlotte’s Web once as a child and decided that was the best thing in the universe since sliced bread. “We can invite Jay and Hunter!”
“As if they would want to come to a baby’s birthday party,” Chance grumbled.
“I’m not a baby!” Charlie yelled. “You are the baby!”
“I’m twice your age!” Chance yelled back.
“Boys! Enough!” Offroad yelled. All week it was hot and cold with the boys. One moment they were inseparable the next either he or Daou was breaking up a fight. “Chance, what did your papa tell you?”
“How the fuck am I supposed to walk away in a car?!” Chance yelled.
“CHANCE!” Offroad yelled, shocked at the word that just came out of his mouth.
“Oh, you said a bad word!” Charlie squealed.
“You are grounded for another week!” Offroad said in a gasp.
“That’s not fair! Charlie started it!” Chance Protested.
“Oh, so Charlie was the one who just said the F word too then huh?” Offroad asked his son.
“No but-
“Daddy truck!” Charlie yelled, cutting off his brother. Offroad heard the impact before he felt his entire body whip to the left. Offroad heard Charlie and Chance scream Offroad felt the car roll. He felt pain in his leg as he heard the glass shattering. The full force of the pain hit Offroad as he felt the car stopped rolling.
“Fuck!” Offroad screamed in pain as he realized they were upside down. Charlie and Chance were now crying. “Chance, can you hear me?”
“Yes,” the boy sobbed.
“I need-” Offroad suddenly felt disoriented. “I need you to unbuckle your seatbelt,” the nausea was setting in at the smell of blood. “You are going to drop but it’s okay you are okay but I need you to get Charlie out of his seat belt,” Offroad was fading but he knew with how Charlie was freaking out it was only a matter of time before he was choking himself.
“Fuck!” Chance yelled as Offroad heard him thud against the roof and glass. “I’m sorry,”
“I’ll let you say it all you want just get your brother,” Offroad had to chuckle. Offroad could hear the voices of others swarming the car.
“I’m coming Charlie,” Chance said to his brother. “Calm down, I got you, ” Offroad heard the crash of his booster seat,
“You got him?” Offroad asked.
“Yeah,” Chance’s voice came.
“Okay good,” Offroad said as he faded. “Good,” he heard himself say before it went black. His boys were safe.

Daou POV
Offroad was going to murder him. He has gotten caught up in working on a project and looked up at the clock and realized he had 5 minutes to get across town. Daou raced from the conference room running to grab his keys from his office when he noticed his cell phone on his desk going off. He picked it up seeing he had missed calls from several numbers including Poon who had called him 26 times in the last 5 minutes.
“Sir!” His secretary screamed barging into his office. He saw a new alert for a news article on his phone screen that had his blood turning cold. Pregnant Omega and 2 children injured in hit and run. Before he could click on the article his phone went off in his hand again.
“Poon,” he answered, feeling like something was stuck in his throat. “Please,” Daou didn’t know who he was begging.
“Get here now,” Poon sobbed into the phone, and Daou took off running. He sprinted through the emergency exit door to the stairs not caring if he set off the alarm practically leaping down the stairs. This couldn’t have happened, this wasn’t real life. His omega was safe in the doctor’s office. His children were in school. This was all a bad dream and he would wake up eventually. Daou reached the bottom of the building and decided to forgo the car the hospital was 5 blocks away. Daou ran. He was probably going to have to hunt some people down and gave apologies as he ran through the streets.
He made it to the hospital and ran in, out of breath walking past all the people waiting as he approached the nurse’s desk.
“Excuse me sir you have to wait your turn,” the nurse said.
“My husband, my kids,” Daou panted.
“I’m sorry what?” The nurse asked.
“My husband-“
“Daddy!” Daou turned to see Charlie running towards him. Daou’s heart broke as he ran to his son collapsing on the ground to his knees and cradling his son to his chest.
“Oh god,” Daou sobbed, holding his son tightly. “Where’s Chance? Where’s Offroad?” Daou asked anyone.
“Sir the doctors need to speak with you regarding your husband now,” Daou heard a voice say and Daou looked up to see Poon standing there next to a nurse.
“Poon,” Daou sobbed, standing with Charlie in his arms. Poon reached for him.
“Chance needed stitches but they won’t tell me anything about Offroad,I was on my way to my appointment when I saw the accident and followed the ambulances, please go, I got Charlie,” Poon said as Charlie began to kick and scream.
“No Daddy, no!”
“I’ll be right back okay buddy, I need to go check on Chance and Daddy please okay? I’ll be right back,” Daou said out of breath and through tears.
“Go!” Poon instructed fiercely. Daou turned and walked with the nurse through 2 large doors.
“Your husband received the brunt of the impact and suffered a compound fracture to his right leg and lacerations to the head and upper body,-”
“The baby, our baby,” Daou stopped in his tracks.
“The pregnancy is putting a lot of strain on him, and at risk if he needs abdominal surgery.” The nurse informed him. “The doctor wants to deliver the baby,” the nurse motioned to an older gentleman approaching them.
“I’ll skip the pleasantries because we don’t have time, I would like permission to deliver the baby prematurely,” the doctor said.
“He is only 6 months along,” Daou said, a pit forming in his stomach.
“If we don’t deliver this baby there’s a possibility you lose both your husband and child, if we deliver now there is a chance they both survive,” the doctor said.
“Our hospital is equipped with the best NICU facility, there is nowhere better for them to be.” The nurse said in a softer voice. Daou felt torn and sick. It felt like they were asking him to pick between his child and his husband.
“Doctor, ultrasound confirms internal bleeding,” a voice called from down the hall.
“We need an answer now,” the doctor pressed.
“Save them both, please for the love of god,” Daou cried.
“I promise to do everything in my power,” the doctor said as he took off running down the hall.
“My other son, is he okay,” Daou asked.
“Yes, he needed stitches on his hand but he is fine. I’ll take you to him now.” The nurse said as she turned down a corridor and Daou followed her. They stopped outside a room and Daou saw his son sitting on the side of the bed holding his hand out as a doctor was stitching it.
“I need a second,” Daou said, turning to lean against the wall sobbing into his hand. This wasn’t a bad dream. Daou tried to shake it off and tried to stop crying as the doctor came out of Chance’s room.
“Mr. Saechua?” The doctor asked and Daou nodded, wiping the tears from his face. “You have a very brave son, he is going to be just fine, I’ll send the nurse in, in a moment with care instructions for his hand at home,” The doctor smiled at him.
“Thank you,” Daou said, clearing his throat. Daou took a deep breath and walked into Chance’s room. Chance looked up at him, his eyes going wide before Daou watched his son’s face fall and the tears started falling. Daou scooped him just as he did Charlie cradling his son to his chest.
“It’s all my fault, Daddy is hurt because of me,” Chance sobbed into Daou’s chest, confusing him.
“Chance, what are you talking about,” Daou asked, pulling back from the hug, holding his son’s head in his hands.
“I was arguing with Charlie, I said a bad word, daddy was mad and yelling at me, he wasn’t paying attention to the road, and if I hadn’t-“
“Chance no stop right there,” Daou said sternly to his son. “This is not your fault you understand me?” Daou said, staring into his son’s eyes. Daou still hadn’t been told what had happened in regards to the accident but this could have never been his son’s fault.
“Daddy is really hurt though,” Chance cried.
“The doctors are going to fix your Daddy up, this is not your fault, okay?” Daou said once more, hugging Chance to his chest.
“Is Charlie okay?” Chance asked. “I tried to get him out of the seat like Daddy told me to but there was so much glass,”
“Charlie is fine,” Daou said
“What about the baby in Daddy’s tummy?” Chance asked really quietly and daou felt his heart sink all over again.
“The doctors are going to make sure both daddy and the baby are okay,” Daou said, trying to sound as convincing as he could.
“Daddy!” Daou heard Charlie’s voice before his leg was in his death grip. Daou with one arm reached down and scooped Charlie up and just held his sons to his chest. He looked over at Poon, who Daou assumed the nurse had let back due to Charlie’s screaming and Poon tried to give him a reassuring smile but the uncertainty on his face had Daou just holding onto his son’s tighter.
……
“Saechua?” Daou heard called and he immediately stood Charlie still in his arms. His mom and dad, Sam and his wife, Film, Diamond, even Mang, and his friend Joong, Geler, and his wife, were all at the hospital. Offroad’s mother was flying in. Daou had learned from the police officers that a truck had run a stop sign and collided with Offroad’s car. The guy had taken off on foot but they now had him in custody.
“Me, us,” Daou said as he rushed to the doctor. “Is my husband okay?”
“Yes, he has internal tearing which caused the internal bleeding. It has been repaired and his leg has been reset, he will need physical therapy for the leg but we believe he will make a full recovery,” The doctor and Daou felt like a weight had been lifted off his body.
“And the baby?” Daou asked not really wanting to hear the answer, but the doctor smiled at him.
“I hear you have some really strong and brave boys,” The doctor smiled at Chance and Charlie, “I am happy to report the same goes for your daughter,”
“Daughter? It’s a girl?” Daou asked, feeling the tears run down his face. “She’s okay?”
“She isn’t out of the woods yet, she will be in the NICU for a good bit of time, but she is okay. Would you like to see her?” The doctor asked, looking at Daou and the boys, pausing for a moment looking at all the people standing behind Daou. “I can’t take all of you back at once but I can take one more who can come back and bring the others in groups. I am sure by the time you are done visiting they will have moved your husband to his room,”
“Poon,” Daou called and Poon was immediately at his side taking Chance by the hand.
“Great, let’s go meet your Daughter,” the doctor smiled and led them over to the Nicu. He led them to a room and Daou could see through the glass a tiny baby all bundled up in one of those plastic-enclosed cradles that Daou had actually only ever seen in movies and on TV. “I will ask that the groups of people only view from here when you bring them back,” The doctor instructed Poon who nodded. The doctor opened the door and allowed them to walk in.
“Ah, I heard she had some big brothers,” a nurse smiled at them.
“Daddy, is that the baby?” Charlie whispered in his ear.
“Yes, that’s your baby sister,” Daou said, smiling down at his beautiful daughter in the enclosure.
“Can we still name her Wilbur?” Charlie asked and for the first time that day, Daou laughed.
“She’s a girl, she needs a girl name,” Chance said, as he began to reach into the cradle through the open port on the side but paused looking back up at the nurse, who gave him a head nod that it was okay. Daou watched as his son reached in and the moment his finger was by her tiny hand she gripped it. Chance smiled so big and looked up at Daou.
“She’s so tiny,” Poon said, also looking down at her.
“What do you think we should name your goddaughter?” Daou asked Poon, who smiled so big. Poon was the godfather of all of their children.
“Daddy,” Charlie whispered in his ear. “I get to pick it since Chance picked mine,” Charlie whined.
“You can always get some help,” Daou told him, setting him down to be eye level with the cradle. “If me and your Daddy wouldn’t have helped your brother your name would have been Blue,”
“Maybe we should wait till Daddy is here?” Chance said, withdrawing his hand. “Can we go see him now?” Chance asked, looking around at everyone.
“Go on, I’ll bring everyone here to meet Wilbur,” Poon chuckled.
“Bye, little baby, love you,” Charlie whispered into the cradle and Daou had to lean his head back and blink away the tears. He almost lost everyone today. His heart was heavy but relieved at the same time. Daou was going to spend the next month visiting every temple to make sure he properly thanked whatever god saved his family.

Offroad POV
Offroad body felt heavy, like there was someone sitting on top of him. He opened his eyes and began to blink looking straight up at the ceiling. He could tell he was in hospital. He could hear voices but couldn’t make out what they were saying. He tried to open his mouth but couldn’t talk. He tried to lift his arm to feel his stomach but couldn’t. While he felt weighed down his stomach felt empty. Offroad suddenly couldn’t breathe his vision was going blurry once again due to the tears. Offroad could then make out Chance and Charlie’s voices and the damn inside of him broke his boys, they were okay.
“Road?” Offroad heard Daous’ voice, and he could smell the scent of just pure anxiousness coming off of him. “Road, baby?” Daou’s face came into his line of sight.
“Daddy!” Offroad heard Chance and Charlie yell together.
“Boys?” Offroad croaked out.
“They are fine, Chance got stitches,” Daou smiled at him and Offroad could feel his hand running through his head.
“See?” Chance said putting his hand in Offroads line of vision to show him about the 5 ish stitches in the palm of his hand.
“The baby, did I lose him?” Offroad asked.
“She is doing just fine,” Daou smiled at him and Offroad’s world paused.
“She?” Offroad asked in shock. “We have a daughter?”
“Yes, baby and she is so beautiful,” Daou said and Offroad could see the tears forming in his eyes.
“Daddy, tell Chance I get to name her,” Offroad heard Charlie’s voice.
“Let me get him up so he isn’t staring at the ceiling,” Daou said as Offroad felt the bed rise up.
“Not too much, his stomach,” Offroad heard his mother’s voice.
“Mom?” Offroad cried.
“I’m here,” His mother said as Offroad could finally see everyone in the room. His eyes immediately went to his boys hearing they were okay but actually seeing that they were okay we’re two very different things.
“I am going to grab the doctor,” Offroad heard Film say before walking out of the room quickly. Offroad looked around and realized his entire family was there including Daou’s mother and father.
“Everyone’s okay?” Offroad asked, looking around at everyone before his eyes landed back on Daou.
“Everyone is fine baby,” Daou smiled at him cupping his face. Offroad felt like he could finally breathe. He reached up and hugged Daou tightly ignoring the pain he felt all over his body before turning his sons and hugging them even tighter.
“I’m sorry, Daddy,” Chance said as Offroad heard the sniffles begin.
“You have nothing to apologize for,” Offroad said, kissing his son’s head.
“Daddy, the baby is really tiny,” Charlie said. “Why was your tummy so big?”
“Charlie!” Offroad heard Daou scold him and Offroad couldn’t help but laugh to which everyone joined shifting the atmosphere in the room. He was thankful that he and his boys were still here to make those silly jokes.
