Hyunjin and Jeongin chapter

Hyunjin had never thought he would fall for someone. He had never been interested in anyone, preferring to be alone with his best friend Felix. He didn’t see the need for romance at the young age of 19, feeling like things most likely would just be immature and fall apart eventually.

Jeongin had always wanted to find the person that would be just right for him. It didn’t matter who they were, as long as they made him happy. When he came to college freshly out of a relationship, he had never expected to fall for Hwang Hyunjin as hard as he did. Hyunjin was energetic and loud, always being the one to make jokes when with friends. It was completely different from his last partner, but he liked it and fell hard.

The two had met through Felix. Him being a social butterfly was quick to befriend Jeongin. Having known Hyunjin since they were 12 years old, he dragged him into the friendship and that’s how the had become friends. They three of them bonded quickly, all sharing their dreams and stories of the past with one another. Jeongin liked to listen to Hyunjin and Felix’ stories, the two seemed to have been up to no good whenever they were together.

Jeongin realised his feelings for Hyunjin were different from his feelings for Felix when the two were hanging out alone one afternoon. They had initially planned to hang out with all three of them, but Felix had to cancel last minute. The two decided to continue their meeting as two and so they left for the cinema together after school. Felix had been begging to see the new horror movie and both had agreed, but for some reason they ended up choosing a rom-com. The lady at the counter had accidentally given them a loveseat, and so the two were sitting confortably snug next to one another. Jeongin couldn’t help but smile after the movie was over as Hyunjin raged on about how beautiful the romance had been. It was that day Jeongin knew he had fallen for the older.

For Hyunjin, it was when him and Felix had gone to the park. The two had enjoyed their time together when Felix had mentioned how it was sad Jeongin couldn’t make it. The weather was perfect and it felt super relaxing, not having to worry about anything. Hyunjin had agreed and for some reason, something in him finally snapped. He realised how his feelings towards Felix felt different from his feelings towards Jeongin. The younger couldn’t help but notice the frown on his best friend’s face and had asked what was on his mind.

“I was just… thinking about Jeongin?” Hyunjin had started, earning a small smirk from Felix that went unnoticed. “I kind of realised I feel differently towards him… then I do to you?”

“I hope so, you’ve known me for 7 freaking years.”

“N-No. Not like that. My stomach feels weird whenever I see him. Especially when his eyes twinkle as he reads his favorite book. Or how he smiles at every dog he sees? It makes me feel… weird.” Felix’ eyes had widened as Hyunjin was explaining his feelings. Hyunjin had told Felix years before he was demisexual, only attracted to people he had a deep connection with. It sounded to him like Hyunjin was head over heels, but confused with his feelings as he had never experiences it before.

“My dude. You sound like you like him.”

Hyunjin had denied it for two full weeks. Not having experienced any form of crush in his life, he blamed it on the fact he liked the rush of having another best friend. However when he started to doubt himself, he decided to confide in the person that knew him best; his mom. She had always wondered why Hyunjin had never gotten himself a girlfriend (or boyfriend). He was a very handsome boy and she had heard Felix tell her multiple times he was very popular with ‘the ladies’ in their high school. When he confessed he could only like someone if they had been good friends before that, she assumed he ment Felix. She laughed it off when she saw how disgusted her son had looked. “The day I date Felix is the day I have lost faith in human kind.” Is that he had responded.

“Mom… how did you know you liked dad?”  Hyunjin asked at dinner one night, looking at his parents who were sitting at the table enjoying their food.

“Well, when I saw him I was instantly head over heels. He was so handsome, I knew I had to shoot my shot whilst he was still single!” It had earned her another disgusted look, before she smiled at her son who was sticking out his tongue like a child. “I couldn’t stop thinking off him. I wanted to constantly be around him. My stomach was doing flips like I had to win a gold medal in the Olympics.”

Hyunjin had finally admitted it to himself. To his parents.

He had a crush.

A crush on Yang Jeongin.

Naturally his mother had wanted the boy to come over immediately. His father had hidden the slight dissapointment he had very well. He didn’t care his son liked the same gender, he was sad knowing he could never have grandkids, family being important to him. However, he had been happy his son had finally found someone and ultimately, that was all that mattered. They could still adopt. Plus, Hyunjin saying he had a crush didn’t mean it would go anywhere, or that the idea of a future family was the number one priority. Both parents were happy for him and Hyunjin had gone to bed extremely relieved, now knowing where his heart was at.

It had taken Hyunjin three months to get the courage to ask Jeongin out on a date, Felix always trying to push him to do so. The youngest had told Felix he also liked Hyunjin, but he didn’t want to just tell Hyunjin that. They both had to find our on their own, at their pace as well.

So when Hyunjin had asked Jeongin to hangout at his house one afternoon, not inviting Felix for obvious reasons, all three boys were excited. Felix prayed from a distance that it would go well for them.

Jeongin was nervous. Not because he knew something would happen, but because he would be alone with Hyunjin. That was all it took to make his heart beat like crazy. He rang the bell, waiting for a bit until the door opened and a stunning smile was welcoming him.

“Hey Innie, come on in.”

There seemed to be no apparent awkwardness, both enjoying each others’ company. Hyunjin’s parents were out for the weekend leaving the two boys alone, watching movies in the livingroom. After finishing the movie, they decided they’d see what they could make for dinner in the kitchen.

“So, how about some japchae?” Hyunjin commented after going through the cabinets. The younger complied and the two started making dinner together. Standing next to one another so closely, Jeonging suddenly felt nervous. Maybe it was time to confess? He didn’t know when the next time would be where he would have the opportunity. Now that he had made more friends through Hyunjin, he was kind of scared the older might fall for someone else. Specifically Lee Minho. The two had gotten pretty close and Jeongin couldn’t lie and say Minho wasn’t very handsome.

Hyunjin noticed that he seemed to be deep in thought, nudging the younger slightly.

“What’s wrong, Innie?”

“Well…” Jeongin sighed, deciding he would just do it now. “I have something I want to talk to you about.” Hyunjin now fully turned his body and attention to the younger, slightly concerned as Jeongin had suddenly sounded very serious. “Yeah, what is it Innie? You can tell me everything.”

“Okay… I would first of all like to say that I don’t want this to ruin our friendship, okay?”

“I mean… If you murdered someone I don’t think we can be friends, but if it ain’t that I’m sure it will be fine.” Hyunjin said, earning a giggle from Jeongin. “I certainly did not commit the homicide, mister.” Hyunjin smiled back at him, staying quiet to let the boy know he could continue. He watched Jeongin’s face distort to nervousness again, letting out a final sigh before speaking up.

“Alright, so I know you don’t easily fall for someone which is why I’m so nervous… It’s because I like you. Like like you. A-And if you don’t feel the same it’s okay, I don’t want this to ruin our friendship and id you don’t like me back then I will do my best to get over it so don’t worry about that okay? It has j-just been bothering me for a while and I needed to at least tell you.” Jeongin had watched Hyunjin’s eyes grow bigger as he was talking, the older clearly shocked by what he said. It made him worry he didn’t like him back and has now ruined their dynamic.

His eyes also widened as Hyunjin pulled him in for a hug, holding his arms around him tightly. He slowly started speaking, a few sniffles being heard.

“Thank you, Innie. For being so thoughtful of what I feel. Honestly, I think I like you as well. Well, I know I like you as well. But it’s scary, you know? I-I have never liked someone before, but I just feel so different when I look at you, or when I see you laugh. I want to be with you, o-only if you want to be with me as well, though!” Hyunjin pulled back from the hug, hands still on Jeongin’s shoulders.

“I want to be with you too, hyung. I’m so relieved you like me as well. I’m fine with taking things at your pace, okay? Just the fact that we can be together is enough.” Jeongin said, smiling lovingly at the older.

“Thank you, Innie. Thank you for confessing as well, I was too big of a chicken to do it myself. A-Also, I wouldn’t mind hugs, snuggles and you know… kisses?” Hyunjin shyly announced, his hands moving down to grab Jeongin’s. Jeongin giggled, finding it adorable how his hyung was so shy all of a sudden. It was a complete 180 of how Hyunjin normally was and in Jeongin’s opinion, it made him look even sweeter.

“Alright then… can I claim my first kiss?” Jeongin said, smirking when Hyunjin nodded whilst looking away. Jeongin leaned in and pecked the older’s cheeks which turned crimson soon after.

“A-Alright. L-Lets go eat dinner.” Hyunjin quickly said, too embarrassed to continue the romantic scene.

“Alright, boyfriend!”

I had such a hard time finishing this but it did make me feel soft when writing this, so I guess it’s alright.
