misun has never felt more awkward in her life.

you can say it, she thinks with determination, hiding her face behind her textbook. just super casual. “hey, do you want to come home with me this weekend? you can meet my dog. and the rest of my family. you know, since we’re friends and all. even though my parents will think you’re my girlfriend and it’s going to be super awkward and you probably don’t even want to—”

“…and that’s how i caused a pregnant woman to miscarriage when i kicked her down the stairs,” says daemin, breaking misun out of her overthinking.

“what?” misun raises her head to peek over the top of her textbook. daemin is nodding solemnly, while kazuha and sakura are both staring at her with adoration.

and chaewon is already looking at misun, but she quickly looks away when their eyes meet. “i still don’t understand what that has to do with the gorillas,” she says to daemin.

“yes, well, it’s not my fault the locks on their enclosure weren’t locked properly,” daemin responds vaguely, then turns to misun with a perceptive smirk. “you look deep in thought, ms. bae. are my stories that riveting, or is there something you’d like to share with the class?”

now everyone at the table is looking at her. misun shoots daemin a murderous look before clearing her throat and studiously avoiding chaewon’s curious gaze as she responds. “no, there’s nothing really.”

“you said there was something you wanted to ask me?” chaewon ventures out hesitantly. does she sound almost… shy?

misun makes the mistake of turning to face her, and suddenly it’s impossible for her to look away. “um, yes.” do it now, just ask her! “i… i was wondering… if…”

chaewon stares at her expectantly. so does daemin. kazuha and sakura are currently awkwardly trying to flex their muscles without being obvious in what is presumably an attempt to get daemin’s attention back.

“well, i—i’m going back home to visit my family this weekend and i was wondering if you wanted to come with me,” misun hurries out in one breath.

chaewon nods. “sure.”

what? just like that? “okay, cool.” misun stands up for no reason. immediately her vision glitches out and the next thing she knows her legs have failed her and she’s falling right onto chaewon’s lap.

“um,” says a startled chaewon, amidst the click-click-click of daemin gleefully taking pictures.

“um,” misun parrots back. chaewon’s hands are on her waist, holding her steady, and of course her brain chooses now to go full autopilot. “postural hypotension.”

chaewon blinks up at her, and this is NOT the time to notice how cute her face looks when she’s confused. “huh?”

misun clears her throat. “it’s. basically when you stand up too fast and, um, your blood pressure drops so you get dizzy and your vision kind of goes weird and you know, it’s hard to keep your balance so you’re more likely to fall. which i just did. so yeah.”

daemin has stopped taking pictures and has switched to recording a video. even sakura and kazuha have stopped weirdly glaring at each other in favor of watching the trainwreck that is bae misun.

“i’ll pick you up tomorrow afternoon!” misun manages to squeak out before shooting to her feet and fleeing the library.

there’s a silence as everybody processes what they just witnessed.

“guess this is mine now,” says daemin, casually rummaging through misun’s purse and pulling out her wallet. “who wants dinner?”
