Aryan stood on kneeling down to level with his son and began to change his clothes into pjs. He noticed those small thin lips of his son pulled down into a somberness for some reason. Maybe because his mother wasn’t here with him to tell him the story. The omega was with Aryan’s mother, who informed Aryan that Chandra would be late, as they had some clothes designs to look for him for wedding functions.
After changing the boy’s clothes, Aryan brought his hands on those small shoulders. “Something happened?” Aryan asked his son with a soft tone.
Shivam hesitated to say. “I might have made mommy dislike me,” he said, his voice coming out as barely audible, despite this Aryan caught the words.
“Did he say anything to make you feel this way?” Aryan said, his gentle voice dripping with an undertone of darkness.
The boy shook his head. “It was my fault.”
“What was your fault?” Aryan asked.
“I’m not allowed to tell this to anyone.”
“Why?”
“Mommy told me not to tell anyone.”
That made Aryan more curious. “You want to tell me?”
The boy considered it for a moment and then shook his head again. “No.”
The mystery of his son’s words left the man wondering. What could cause his son to put in deep thoughts to assume that his mother might dislike him? And the omega was the only person who could make his son not tell things to Aryan, his son would hide nothing from him usually otherwise.
“How did your mother get hurt?” Aryan asked.
The boy gave him a sheepish look, but he didn’t give a response.
Dr Suraj had briefed Aryan about the omega. There was nothing wrong with his wife’s health except his ankle that had been sprained, but it wasn’t severe, so he would be alright in a few days. And at the family dinner, the man noticed the limp in the omega’s leg.
“Your mother told you not to tell anyone about this as well?”
Aryan figured that the omega’s injury might be caused by Shivam. But if it’s Shivam’s fault, why would the omega say to the boy not to tell anyone about it.
When his son kept his lips sealed, Aryan let out a quiet breath. “Okay, you don’t need to tell me everything, if you don’t want to, but give me a nod for this only.”
The boy gave him a low nod.
And then on his palms, Aryan took those little hands of his son, which were tender like a flower. “If it’s ever your fault, what did I tell you to do?”
“You said that if I ask for forgiveness sincerely, and they will forgive me,” Shivam responded.
“So, did you tell this to your mother?”
Shivam shook his head again.
“Okay. When he comes back, tell him this. And I’m sure he will forgive you whatever you think you have done wrong.”
“I will do that,” Shivam said with a smile.
“And one more thing, remember, your mother will never dislike you, So, don’t think about it.”
“Really?” The boy asked with doubt.
“Yes.” Aryan shuffled the jet-black hair of the boy.
“So, tell me now, tonight, what should we read?” Aryan said.
After a half hour had passed, the boy finally fell asleep on the bed while listening to the story that Aryan had been telling. Aryan gently placed a kiss on the boy’s forehead before quietly retreating back into the study room.
–
Aryan’s feet stopped at the door of his room as he watched the omega who was stood near the bed and his eyes turned over the clock on the wall, where the clock hour hand tickled midnight. It took him four hours to do whatever his mother held him for. The omega let out an exhausted breath, and he plopped down on the bed and tugged his feet upward over the rim. Then one hand of his removed the metal hook that was holding the dressing together around the sprained ankle of his, and then he began to unfold the dressing.
The long stride of Aryan struts toward him. Feeling his presence, the omega’s gaze lifted to meet his own. Despite the exhaustion on his face, the omega gave him a warm smile.
As the omega took the ointment in his hand from the bedside, Aryan said. “Give me that.” His voice was soft as he went on,”I will do it for you.”
The omega’s pupils slightly widened. “That’s fine. I will do it myself.”
“It’s better if I do it,” Aryan insisted. He took the ointment from the omega who with a reluctant countenance handed him. Also, Aryan had come to check on him from the study room as he heard the sound of the lift when the door opened.
Aryan settled on the bed in front of the omega. The rhythm of the omega’s heart surged through his ears as Aryan’s hand moved and held the omega’s foot in his palm. The omega had small feet that would fit right into his hands. They were beautiful and perfectly outlined. Those eyes of Aryan observed the foot. The ankle had a slight swelling, but the swelling would have been worse if it hadn’t been covered in an elastic dressing after exerting ointment.
“I was getting into the car, but my foot landed on the ground instead of in the car, as my mind was on Shivam,” the omega rumbled without even asking anything.
Aryan’s eyes looked at the omega. “But I heard something else.” The omega was stiff. And Aryan felt it through his hand that was grasping on the foot.
The man had called Rohini to ask about what happened when they went to bring Shivam from school or afterward. Aryan learned Shivam followed a puppy on the road while a car was coming in his direction. The omega’s feet rushed toward Shivam and hugged Shivam’s small body to save him from that car. Luckily, the car driver stopped on time with brakes. So, no injuries or something fatal happened to them, but the omega had sprained his foot.
A flicker of fear dashed into the eyes of the omega. “I was talking to Ma on the phone—I didn’t realise when he disappeared from my sight—Nothing like this will happen again, I swear. You give—”
“Okay,” Aryan cut in on his rambling, so the omega could take a breath and put himself at ease. Now he knew that reason. The omega thought that he mightn’t be allowed to go out with Shivam alone if someone knew that truth.
The big, copper eyes stared at Aryan without batting lashes. “Y-you aren’t angry?” the omega said, his words coming out as cynical, yet there was relief on his face.
“Nothing happened. And you already said you won’t let this happen again,” Aryan said, his voice was rather gentle.
“Right. I wouldn’t let this happen.”
The omega nodded his head and smiled a beautiful sight that Aryan’s heart missed a beat. The man thought, Has I always found him this intriguing?
“Keep your foot pressed on the surface tightly,” said Aryan, while he took some ointment on his two fingers.
Placing his foot on the bed, the omega did as he was told. Holding the foot by one hand, while with the other hand lightly moving on the outline of his foot with his two fingers, hauling and compressing the whole area of the foot. Aryan sensed a tension in his skin.
The omega let out a hissed painfully the second Aryan put a little pressure on the right on the ankle surface.
Aryan raised his eyes and found the omega’s face red. His bottom lips sunk into his teeth to suppress his cry, as his eyes on Aryan’s hand, which massaged his foot with the right amount of force, gradually moved up and down.
When his fingers shifted to the affected area, stroking it with a little force, the omega hand caught Aryan’s hand abruptly, preventing his hand from massaging the foot. The omega glanced at him. He looked sullen as his brows tugged down.
“This hurts so much,” the omega mumbled miserably.
“Well, that’s how it will get better,” Aryan said with amusement, and a smile slipped on his lips without realising.
The omega stared at him.
“What are you staring at?” A deep brow of Aryan cocked in a question.
“You look more handsome with a smile,” the omega commented bluntly. A teeth smile popped in across his face.
Aryan was surprised. It’s not like he didn’t know where his looks stand. He could get laid easily if he wanted. But the omega had never said anything like this about him before. Not that he was hankering after his wife’s opinion about himself ever.
“Am I not an ugly monster anymore?” Aryan chuckled, in a low, deep, and cold tone.
The beautiful face of his wife displayed a touch of sadness, which Aryan found unsettling. However, he couldn’t deny that deep down, he might care about the omega’s opinion of him, unlike in the past.
“You know. I didn’t mean any of those words,” the omega said, emphasising his tone.
