I Became The Protagonist’s Child Chapter 55

Sihan couldn’t cook, he wanted to cook something for Amani when he got home from work but all he could do right now is sit at the dinner table holding his face crying.

His hands tremble as the tears stream down his arms, why is life so unfair?

Sihan suffered with Noah through his pregnancy, and just when he thought nothing could ruin them this happened.

“I don’t want to lose you Noah, hic.” 

Nathaniel is one thing but he knows his parents are another, he knows first hand that if it’s not Nathaniel’s way it’s their way and now Nathaniel is coming for Noah. 

He feels terrible, he feels pain beyond his imagination, why now?

Amani walks in feeling eerie, is it because Noah is not here? There is this unexplained gloominess in the air.

As he walks in he hears sniffles and whimpers coming from the dining room, he walks in to see Sihan crying on the dinner table. This is not what he expected coming home from work but even so.

He drops the bag then sits beside him at the dining table as he watches the male cries. Sihan holds the back of his neck then looks at Amani with red puffy eyes.

“Am I selfish? I know what I did is drastic but I was scared.” Sihan said.

Amani holds his hand then intertwined fingers, “being scared is enough of a reason.”

“But it doesn’t make it right, especially to Noah. What will happen after he learns the truth? Will he hate me–” 

Amani drags him closer into a hug, “Sihan, shhh… Noah won’t hate you, he will understand but you must explain to him.” 

Sihan sniffles as he snuggles a bit, “I really wanted the best for him.” 

“He wants to take Noah?” 

“Yes, he gave me papers to sign away my rights… but I didn’t.” Sihan admits 

“I’ll start searching for some excellent lawyers.” Amani said.

“Even so, do you think we can win? I mean I don’t want to ruin your career because of us.”

“Bambi, you guys are my family. Losing you will be more of a ruin.” He admits 

Sihan sighs feeling a bit relieved, “he won’t have Noah, I’ll make sure of that cause I know Nathaniel more than he thinks I don’t.” 

Sihan smiles to himself, Noah, he will protect him and he knows he must. 

Noah was on his tablet. He was now video calling Arian his grandparents had already called it bedtime at 7 yet this kid called him to show him his cat!

“You should be in bed,” Noah said.

“I’m not sleepy, Reggie wanted to play so u decided to introduce you to him.” Arian said,

Noah thinks it’s cute he’d like to touch but puffs, “you could show me another time!” 

Arian pauses, then thinks, “Huh? Right I can—” 

He saw Arian’s head move sideways as the tablet screen fell.

“You’re supposed to be sleeping.” Noah heard in the background.

“I’m not sleepy, I’m waiting for sofie.” 

“Mom will be late to go to bed!” 

“I don’t want to sleep,” Arian said, 

Noah soon sees paw prints on the screen before it hangs up, Noah sighs he guesses Arian’s big brother will put him to bed.

“Go to be–” 

“I don’t want to,” Arian said.

“You know it was better when you were not here!” He yells.

Arian remains silent then spoke, “I want sofie,” 

Julio, Arian’s older brother groans. “Go to bed Arian, mom and dad will be late, they’ll be worried if you’re not sleeping.” 

“I’ll pretend to sleep when they come.” Arian said.

Julio is annoyed, he rolled his eyes walking into the room. His dad said he needs to be nicer to him but he doesn’t want to with this freak, he forces Arian to lie down drawing the sheet over him. “Go to sleep and when sofie comes I’ll wake you.” 

Arian looks at him, he is not stupid. He pushes the sheets off. “I’m not sleepy,” 

“Yo–” 

Just as Julio was gonna argue he cuts short by the opening of the door, “oh, Jay you’re tucking your brother in.” Sofie said.

Julio face lights up with a soft yet shy smile, “uhUh… yes… mom” 

Sofia smiles, she walks up to them a bit sceptical but stoops down, “um, boys. Your dad and I… Well, we will be spending some days together. Your dad is going on a business trip.” 

Sofia smiles, Arian looks at her observing before blankly saying. “Can I go see Noah,” 

“Arian, no, you can’t.” 

“Noah wants me to visit,” 

“You have school.”

“I will go to school from there,” he counters.

“No, end of story.” Sofia said almost rising her voice.

Arian nods, “I want to sleep.” 

Sofia nods getting up, his cat Reggie soon went on top of him to sleep. “Good night Arian, Reggie.” 

Sofia smiles as she holds Julio’s hand walking out turning off the lights on the way. Arian sits up then begins to brush Reggie’s fur.

Outside Julio looks at his mother, “why didn’t you let him go, you let him do as his pleases” 

“You worry about your brother too much, shouldn’t you be sleeping as well?” She smiles.

“Right, I’ll go but did you fight with dad? Is it because of him?” Julio asks demanding.

“It’s not because of your brother,” Sofia said sternly.

“You guys only disagree when it comes to him, you should have just leave him at am orphanage!” 

“Julio” 

Julio walks off saying nothing more, Arian was sitting at the door barely cracked open, he heard it all. His eyes grows dull patting Reggie but a smile was still plastered on his face.
