“I still want to go to school,”

“With injuries like this there is no way!” Josh said, placing an ice pack over his eyes.

It was only one punch anyway, but his left eye is completely swollen though.

“I’ve been told a million times to be careful and watch what you do!” Sofia scolds.

“Be quiet,” Josh grumbles.

“I’m serious, you know he hurts himself that’s why we need to be careful.” Sofia complains.

Josh ignores Sofia, he looks at his son. “Ari, did you do it?”

“Who else would? You know how curious he gets?!” Sofia said.

“Sofia! Let me speak to our son.” He sighs.

Joseph knows that Arian would do questionable things and he can’t blame him because deep down he is hurting even I’d he can’t understand physically, he wants to understand Arian and he wants Arian to understand himself that what he is feeling is pain not physically but emotionally, psychologically…

Arian looks at Josh, he is silent. He can tell the truth but at what cost? Julio, he is already in so much agony, their parents don’t see him and if he should tell them, he would not only be hurt from being invisible but hurt from being seen as a monster in their parents eyes.

Arian doesn’t want that for Julio, the unproblematic child, the normal one. Love Julio, he doesn’t want their love. He already has people who love him dearly and are waiting for him.

“Yes, I read that sometimes your brain get damaged due to lack of oxygen, if I squeeze hard enough maybe it may trigger something and the switch might just flip.” Arian said

That was a bunch of gibberish, he’ll lie again and not regret anything. Sofia hissed her teeth.

“I’ve told you! You spend so much time with your hoes you barely have time for your kids.” Sofia said.

Josh bites his lip, he wants to argue back but Arian is right in front of him. He ignores her and Sofia breathes hearing no reply…

A sweat trickles down the cheek of Noah, he looks at his friend with worry. Bandaged neck and Bruised eye, is Arian being abused…

“I’m not being abused…” Arian said as if guessing what he was thinking.

“Then what happened?” Noah said.

“I had a nasty fight with my brother, he won.” Arian said…

Noah looks at Arian closely, there isn’t evidence that he is lying but it doesn’t feel like the truth either. “Your arm was sprained first time we met,”

“That actually due to carelessness fell out of a tree didn’t release it was hurt, until the check up.”

“You didn’t realise you were in pain?” Noah feels his brain short circuit.

Arian smiles looking at the dumb expression on Noah’s face, he wants to be friends for the longest time with him.

Time flows quicker than blink of an eye and it’s already been 3 years…

“We’re going on a family trip, I want to take Noah with me.” Nathaniel said.

“When should we schedule,” Sihan asks calmly.

“Without you and your boyfriend this time,” Nathaniel said.

“You know the arrangement Nathaniel,” Sihan said.

“I know, but I just want to spend this time alone you know… bonding time with the four of us.”

“Four?”

“Alex is not coming,”

“Why?”

“Because he is not, I just want time with my children okay. No lover, no family drama, nothing, just me and our children. You’ll also get two days with your boyfriend,” Nathaniel smiles, bargaining.

Sihan is not convinced, but he admits parents bonding time is good. Their secret arrangement has always been strict from him joining trips to regular communications updates, he has most say on how Nathaniel spends time with Noah.

“Okay, but you know the rules.”

“Yep, a call in the morning, one at noon and one more before he goes to bed. Text with regular updates wherever we go.” Nathaniel confirms.

Sihan nods, Nathaniel smiles happily starting the plans. “I’ll go, pick them up soon.”

Sihan thinks, “no need, he has football practice today.”

“I know, I’ll watch this evening.” Nathaniel said, “it’s joint practice, since there is an upcoming match.

“Hm, what are you planning to get him on his birthday?” He asks.

“Honestly, still having a hard time deciding, he already has everything he seems to want.”

Sihan smiles and he understands the feeling everyone has that feeling it was the same with Amani last year. He chuckles, “why don’t you make something?”

Nathaniel looked at him, “make… something?”

“Yes, make something… Noah always appreciates a thoughtful gift.”

Nathaniel nods, “good idea.”

Noah, runs across the feel swiftly dodging while carefully tackling the ball, he smiles kicking the ball to a team member before the ball is swiftly tackled from him kicking to the opposing members Alexis catches the ball kicking it into the goal. Ashton barely had time to block before the ultimate goal. The coach blows the whistle calling the match.

“Yes!” Alexis yells.

Ashton whines feeling down, “Awww”

Noah smiles walking up to him, “it’s okay Ash,”

“*Huff* I was this close.”

Ashton, the kid who Noah eats lunch with for the most part, decided to cling to him and joined the football team a year ago. He is not the greatest but he works really hard.  Arian walks up to them with four bottles of water, handing one to Ashton, Alexis and Noah.

“Good game,” he said.

Noah pulls it then drinks, after he looks at Arian. “Don’t you have rehearsals?”

“Dad cancel my schedule,”

“Again? Man do your parents ever make up their minds?”

Arian smiles, “they mean well.”

Alexis smiles, “Noah, your birthday, what do you want?”

Alexis smiles, Noah thinks, “I don’t want much, I’m fine as I am.”

“Well, my mommy once said that it’s fun to want things on birthdays even if you don’t get them. It helps build perspective on others.” Ashton said.

“My mom said birthdays are supposed to be fun.” Alexis said.

Arian is thinking about gifts, he wants to give a nice gift.

I know the Time skip was sudden but some of things that are gonna doesn’t really happen in the first year they return…

Like spoiler warning there gonna be some angst…
