Guys, the title is no joke. Stealing is actually bad.
Three days later Nico was back on the streets. He didn’t want to annoy Robin too much so he disappeared after one day. He entered a small supermarket called ‘Grocer Corner’ and realized the store owner was gone. Nico knew he shouldn’t, but the hunger became too much to handle.
Nico grabbed some bread, aioli, and some additional products such as a medical kit, and a bottle with a litre of water.
“I’m sorry,” he muttered before as he quickly walked out the store after stealing the products.
As he arrived in the alley where he first arrived to the city, which he later found out the locals called ‘Crime Alley,’ he heard something coming from above. “Show yourself!”
Nico decided to risk it and shadow travelled to the roof. He felt himself shiver as he fell to the ground next to a man. “Are you alright?” The man asked as he pulled up Nico.
Nico could get a better view of the man, he wore a dark chest plate with a red symbol in front of his heart. Impractical, Nico thought as he realised he had put a target on his heart. The man wore a red helmet with white lenses, similar to Robin’s lenses.
“Who are you?” Nico asked.
“Who am I!? Who are you!?” The man snapped back.
“Just some guy,” Nico decided.
“Just some guy teleporting out of my chest?” The masked man asked.
“Oh,” Nico realised what had just happened, “Shit.” The man asked, “Why did you steal from Bianca?”Â
Nico froze upon hearing the name. Bianca was the name of his sister, who died on a mission with Percy Jackson. She gave a Hades Figurine to Nico before she died, which Nico still had stored on his nightstand at Camp HalfBlood.
“B-Bianca?”
“The owner of Grocer Corner,” the man explained. “I-I’m so sorry,” Nico said softly.Â
The man took in Nico’s sudden emotional shift, “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine,” the younger boy said while turning around.
“Where are your parents?”
The son of Hades snapped, “Mind your own freaking business!” Once Nico realised what he had said he softly apologised.
“An orphan, huh?” The man asked. “Me too.” He joked, “Don’t let the Bat hear that. An orphaned meta human may be him hitting the jackpot.”
“The Bat? You mean, Robin’s ex-partner?” Nico asked remembering what Robin had told him about Batman.
“That’s not what most people call him bu- You know Robin?” The man was happy to hear his younger brother was still in Gotham City.
“That would make you, the Red Hood,” Nico connected the dots, “The second Robin.”
“You didn’t know that already?” Red Hood asked. “I literally asked you who you were like half a minute ago,” the Ghost King said.
“You mind telling me about those teleportation abilities?” the former Robin asked. “I mean, witch light is a meta human, but yours seems like a whole other level.”
“Witch Light?” Nico asked. “Signal.”Â
“I’m also a meta human, I think. In a rather bad moment, I just kind of teleported to China.” Nico decided for a half-lie. It was not a lie that he first shadow travelled in a traumatic moment. However, he didn’t want to tell some stranger about him being a demigod.
“Do you have anywhere to stay?” The Formerly Dead Man asked. Nico just shook his head. “I’ll just quickly set up one of my safe houses for you.”
Red Hood grabbed the bag Nico had stuffed all stolen objects in. “I’ll return this,” he explained, “I’ll make sure you get some legally obtained food.”
