I whistled a casual tune as I walked down the street. The sun was shining and a gentle breeze caressed my face tenderly. My spirits were high and my mood was bright with the promise of a good day. Everything felt right, like I was at peace with the world for a moment.Â
  Â
It was a nice change of pace from violence and bloodshed, just a gentle stroll through town to celebrate life. No one expected anything from me today, my schedule was as free as I was. Now the only question that remained was what I was going to do with my day.Â
  Â
My eyes glanced at various shops but I didn’t feel like shopping today. There were a couple restaurants but I wasn’t hungry yet. My stare caught on a theater across the street with a double feature playing in about thirty minutes.Â
  Â
Curiosity guided me across the street to check the ticket prices. They were pretty cheap and the movies didn’t look too bad as well. Shrugging with another content smile, I walked to the stand with my wallet sliding into my hand. This seemed like a relaxing thing to do that I didn’t have enough time to do any other day.Â
  Â
Talking politely to the lady selling tickets, I bought a seat before making my way inside. The interior was slightly chilly but not enough to be bothersome. Deciding to indulge and buy a drink, I felt entirely normal. Going to a movie was a luxury I couldn’t afford most of the time, my job dealing with curses coming first before indulgences.Â
  Â
I picked up my casual whistling from earlier as I searched for what hall my movie was being played. Once I found it, I began to walk through the doorway when someone slammed into me from behind.Â
  Â
“Hey! Move it punk,” a gruff voice sneered from behind me. I turned around to peer at the person who had bumped into me to find three guys standing there, all with glares and obvious bad attitudes.Â
  Â
“Oh, sorry. Go ahead,” I politely offered, moving to the side to let the teens pass by me. I wasn’t looking for a fight and didn’t want to ruin the peaceful mood I was in. It didn’t matter to me who entered the movie first. Nothing to start something over.Â
  Â
They strode past me with mean looking side eyes but I only offered a small nod. I checked behind me this time before walking in as well. The room was dark with small lights along the ground to make sure no one tripped on the way to their seats.Â
  Â
I scanned the room quickly to assess where everything was, spotting the jerks near the top of the rows and deciding to sit near the front instead. There weren’t many people in here, only another boy and an old couple. I sat down, placing my drink in its cup holder right in time for the movie to start.Â
~~~
Not even a quarter through the movie and I was starting to get a bit irritated. The guys who bumped into me earlier wouldn’t stop talking and making disgusting comments that didn’t involve the film. I didn’t bother to turn around though till I heard their attention shift.Â
  Â
They were quiet for a few suspicious moments, before I bothered to check and see if they had left. Sadly they were still there but they had moved, one guy leaning over his new seat to whisper to a boy who was right in front of them. The boy had dark hair that fell onto one side of his face. His eyes were wide and he looked stressed by the look of it. His hands were gripping the armrests and he seemed paralyzed.Â
  Â
Whatever the guy behind him was whispering wasn’t something friendly. The nervous boy’s stare slid to mine, the eye contact intense. I was debating whether to get involved when another one of the punks stood while grabbing his drink.Â
  Â
As if in slow motion, the contents of the cup was poured onto the boy in front of them. The dark haired teen only closed his eyes, still not moving. I, on the other hand, rose from my seat, making sure to grab my drink on my way over to the group of boys.Â
  Â
“Hey guys look. It’s the bitch that bumped into us earlier,” one snickered. The guy directly behind the assaulted teen had his hand gripping the boy’s collar of his shirt. “Heeyyy, Junpei. You know this guy? He your boyfriend?” Nasty laughter erupted between the three guys as the boy only shrunk down more. So much for a pleasant day.Â
  Â
“Alright fuckers, listen up!” I barked out with a disgusted twitch of my lips. Their laughter immediately stopped as they sneered at me. “You’re going to let go of him and get your pathetic asses out of here before I send you back to your mommies crying.”Â
  Â
The leader of the group released the boy Junpei from his grip, straightening as he smirked at me. I sent my own smirk back at him as I crossed my arms, taking a mocking sip of my drink.Â
  Â
“Ooo, tough guy wants to get his ass beat it seems,” he threatened with a point of his finger in my direction but I only shrugged. This seemed to piss him off as his hand slid to an object in his jacket. When I saw the pocket knife in his hands I couldn’t help but break out into laughter.Â
  Â
Wheezing and doubling over, I felt the confused stares of the group of guys. I gathered myself just enough to pop off the lid of my drink, tossing the liquid onto them. “You little fuc—”.Â
  Â
“My turn,” I smiled with a wink. My cursed energy flowed through the liquid as it seeped into their skin. I felt my energy coursing through their veins as I raised my hand causally before flipping them off. The gesture was both fun and essential as my technique activated, making the group of guys freeze as if time had stopped for them.Â
  Â
It wouldn’t hurt them but they would be stuck like that, their minds caught in a realm of fear and phantom pain. They’d only be scarred mentally afterwards and I would be nowhere to be found by then.Â
  Â
I turned to the boy, expecting some kind of panic in his expression but I only saw curiosity in his wide eyes. He carefully stood on trembling legs, his clothes soaked and stained.Â
  Â
“How’d you do that?” he questioned in awe. I chuckled slightly, walking closer to him and offering a hand to steady his shaky stance. He took it hesitantly before I started to guide him out of the aisle and away from his frozen assailants.Â
  Â
“I’ll explain it after we get you cleaned up,” I smiled at him. He nodded as we walked out of the theater and to the nearest restroom, comfortable silence stretched between us.
~~~
I ended up explaining nearly everything from who I was to what I was and what I was doing. He eagerly watched me as if I was the most fascinating guy in the world and for a second I felt like it. It was hard not to with Junpei staring at you like that.Â
  Â
We tried to get most of the stains out of his soaked shirt but it didn’t work that well. My hands found the edge of his shirt as his face erupted in a blush. I chuckled before letting go and taking a step back.Â
  Â
“Sorry. Got ahead of myself there but you should change your shirt. It’s probably not good for your skin to wear a wet shirt everywhere,” I explained with a smile. He looked away, clearly very shy.Â
  Â
“I didn’t bring a spare and I’m not walking around the town bare chested,” he mumbled, flustered and red faced. I laughed again, sliding off my jacket and holding it out to him. He glanced at me but didn’t take it.Â
  Â
“Just wear this then, no one will know you’re not wearing anything underneath.” He stared at it for a moment as if I was offering my life’s savings to him on a silver platter. It was only a jacket, nothing fancy and he obviously needed it more than me.Â
  Â
“Thanks,” he mumbled, his hand reaching to take the covering before walking into a bathroom stall to change. Sighing with a smile, I threw away the used napkins and waited for Junpei to finish.Â
  Â
“I wouldn’t have looked if you changed out here. I can respect boundaries, y’know,” I stated before picking up a tune while whistling. The door to the stall opened as Junpei walked out, my attention immediately jumping to him. Something about him wearing my clothes made my face warm.Â
  Â
“I can return it later, I promise,” he whispered bashfully, his face still pink. He was just too adorable and my day was still waiting to be wasted. The movie turned out to be a bust but maybe Junpei could lighten my mood again.Â
  Â
“Nah, don’t worry about it. You look cute in it anyway,” I stated with a shrug. Watching his face darken even further was entertaining. “Got any plans for the rest of the day? You can repay me by hanging out with me.”Â
  Â
He flashed me a small smile that looked so hopeful. I could tell that he didn’t have many friends, though he seemed like an amazing guy. “You wanna come watch movies back at my place?” he asked with a nervous tilt to his head.Â
  Â
A relaxful day spent with someone as adorable as Junpei? Sign me the hell up. I gave him a wink and a smile that made him tense up. Maybe I’ll find a way to stick around longer. “That sounds perfect, Junpei.”
