Kalos King- Pokemon Xyz X Male Reader “A Relay In The Sky.” – 25

Reader POV

On our way to Anistar City, we had stopped for some brief Aerial training for Ashes’ new Noibat, that he hatched from an egg. Hawlucha and Altaria were helping it train to fly, with Noibat jumping off of Hawlucha and Altaria preparing to catch noibat if it were to fall. As Noibat got into a good rhythm, a breeze picked up. However with the help of our pokemon, Noibat managed to keep steady and return to the ground safely. We cheered at the success. 

“Thanks for helping us out Altaria.” I was about to return my pokemon but a group of the evolutions of Starly shot past us, which freaked me out slightly. They flew so quickly it was amazing. We decided to follow them.

“Come and watch the Sky relay!” A loudspeaker said on repeat. There were so many flying type pokemon, it was incredible. We then looked to see a small man with a Noctowl. We then took it upon ourselves to introduce us.

“My name is Y/n.” I held out my hand.

“Ornithol, you’re from that pokemon-vision thing aren’t you?” He shook my hand, however my face dropped slightly. “The one where you did that battle with a Gothitelle, my grandson showed me, quite spectacular.”

After hearing those words, my face lit up into a huge smile, I took the compliment to heart as it meant a lot to me.

Afterwards, Ornithol explained to us how the Sky relay worked, as he said this, the Starly team flew over us once more. They were teams of 3 Flying type pokemon who flew a relay with each other.

“Say Ash, are these Three your pokemon?” Ornithol pointed to Hawlucha, Noibat and Altaria.

“Altaria is my pokemon, the other two are his.” I replied for Ash.

“You two should apply for the race, to help me win the victory!” The old man smirked.

“That seems like something I’m down for.” I chuckled, Ash looked at me and we agreed. Hawlucha agreed too and so did Altaria. We then walked into a cabin the old man set up.

Ornithol told us the route the pokemon were to take. He said that we needed to pick the best place for the pokemon to be at.

“Personally, I think Noibat should go first, as it will be flying through a clearing. Hawlucha second, as it can minover through forest with ease, and Altaria last, because my altaria has quick performance reactions, and can evade moves that the other pokemon can use on it.” I told the others.

“That seems like a good plan.” Ash high-fived me.

“Its set then! We’ll win the race with ease!” Ornithol remarked. “Did I forget to mention, that the anchor must fly with their pokemon in a flight suit, over the canyon too?”

“Ah…Right.” I huffed. “Anything to win, right?” 

“That’s the spirit!” The old man chuckled.

That afternoon, we had lined up with the rest of the Anchors, at the top of the cliff. I was extremely anxious, but I had my pokemon to reassure me. Altaria nudged me with its beak.

“Thank you.” I chuckled. “We need to give this all we’ve got, especially since flying is one of your specialties.” 

Altaria gave me a reassuring look. That was until we heard that Noibat was falling behind in last. I just hoped that Hawlucha could pick up the pace a bit. I grew more anxious as one of the other trainers giggled at me.

“What are you looking at?” I snarled. “Winners that’s what!”

“Team Pumpkaboo had taken the lead! And has firstly handed the sash to pelipper! Followed up by Hawlucha from Team Ash and Y/n.” The loudspeaker hollered.

I smiled and started to cheer for Hawlucha.

“Its almost time for us Altaria.” I said. “Let’s give it 100% pure determination.”

Suddenly, we saw Hawlucha coming quick. However it was overtaken by staraptor. As the starly and its trainer shot off, Hawlucha came and dumped the sash on Altaria. Ash started to cheer for me.

“Let’s do this Altaria.” I smirked, I ran at full speed off the ramp and extended the flight suit wings.

A strong breeze picked up and I flew a long Altaria. I began to jump from Stack to stack, as Altaria dodged in between them.

“Starly! Use swift!” I heard one of the other contestants shout. It was so sudden, Altaria was taken off its wings and came crashing down into a Stack. It never stopped flying though, which made me proud. I kept jumping from stack to stack. However there was a new threat, Team rocket. They revealed themselves as the mechanical Suit they used to pose as a Pelipper exploded. The explosion was so forceful it created a wind tunnel, sweeping me off my feet and sent me spiralling uncontrollably downwards. Altaria had to make an option. Save me or Win the race, Or both If we wanted to try.

“Altaria!” I screamed. I still felt as If I was falling, but I wasn’t. Altaria had swooped in to save me. What was even weirder, a purple-ish blue aura radiated from it as it dropped in to save me. It was a new move, A move that I’d never seen before. I just about got my bearings on the back of my altaria when Clemont shouted from the sideline.

“Y/N! ALTARIA USED DRAGON RUSH! TELL IT TO USE DRAGON RUSH!” Clemont shouted to me.

“Well well, your first dragon type move.” I chuckled. “Lets kick this shit into high gear Altaria! Use Dragon rush!”

Within seconds, that same arua shot from Altaria, it formed a sort of dragon head in front of altaria. At the same time, Altaria had picked up an incredible amount of speed. We were going so fast it was crazy. We became neck-and-neck with the Starly. 

“Starly! Use swift again!” Starly shot out stars towards Altaria.

“Dragon rush!” I screamed, the stars were taken down in seconds, as altaria kept pushing forwards, so did the starly. “Kick it Altaria!”

I thrusted my fist up into the air and pointed towards the finish line. It was visible, tangible. I had a thirst to win something, this was going to be it, I knew it. My assumptions weren’t right, Altaria barely managed to cross the finish line, in front was Starly, who came first. However, Altaria couldn’t stop the dragon rush.

“Fly upwards Altaria!” I shouted, the man on the loudspeaker was intrigued with our plan, so was the audience. Once we got there I jumped off of altaria and shouted once more. “Release that Dragon rush into the air!”

That was all that was needed, Altaria released the dragon rush into the air, creating a swirling orb which exploded into countless sparkles, which glittered down from the sky, getting countless gasps of joy from the Audience. Altaria and I came crashing down after that. We got applause from the audience. 

As team Starly stood on the podium, Our team stood next to them in a close second. Ornithol secured his mindset to make sure he won at least one sky relay in the future, thanks to us. It was amazing to see.

As the day set, I now needed to focus on my main plan. Winning the Dendimille Rookie class tournament, changing the game up, and winning my way.
