Hey all! Sorry I took last week off; it was just a one off. Just wasn’t feeling writing, but I’m hoping to thrive and go off for this special chapter. Hope you enjoy!

Reader POV
I stood outside the door to the huge mainstage. My outfit was beautiful, a pantsuit, in baby blue, dripping with sequins with a tailcoat. I had a clacking fan which matched the vibe of my outfit. On the fan, at the base, it held a keychain, the same Keychain that Valerie had made for me, which held the Key stone and allowed for Altaria to Mega Evolve.
“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Introducing our Prince, Y/N!” Just as the doors flung open, my whole pokemon team and I waltz down the grand stairs onto the ground stage. “What an amazing entrance Y/n.”
“Why thank you.” I replied. “Almighty Arceus! The Kalos King really does take a hot minute to get ready, probably takes a lot to make an old face look young again, good thing that that will change.”
“Read to filth by our prince!” Aria chuckled. “Now ladies and gentlemen, Please give a huge round of applause to our Kalos King Monsieur Pierre!”
As the Kalos King walked onto the stage, coming down the huge flight of stairs like I did, the crowd cheered as a regal melody played in the background. I bowed to my king and he did the same.
“You know how it goes folks! Our two will go through a series of challenges, you will have to vote on the victor of each challenge and the win will go to the challenger with the most amount of points.” Aria stated pointing at us. “Our first challenge will be, Individual Performances! Oh, and one thing to remember, once you use two or three pokemon for the performance, you can’t reuse those same pokemon for the final performance.”
I nodded, as I was to go first, I was going to perform in my entrance outfit, regal yet still moveable. I stood my ground and called forth my three team members.
“Chandelure, Meowstic and Simipour, you ready to perform?” I asked. They all gave me a reassured look that they were ready to explode with beauty.
As soon as the music kicked in, I was in action, lip syncing and having a great time. The lighting became a strobe of 80’s patterns and colours, this was thanks to Chandelure and Meowstic’s combined power.
Simipour and I were both doing the same moves, the voguing and the duck walk to boot. Simipour used brick break and I jumped off of it and flew through the air before landing back down the whole vibe of the song really matched my movements, the crowd was cheering. I could also see my friends and Family sitting in the audience.
As the song ended, my team created a huge explosion in the shape of the letter (Enter first letter of name here.) to let everyone know who was performing.
After the crowd cheered for me, it was time to watch Pierre perform with his team of three, Lapras, Roserade and Salamence. I was astounded, he had more pokemon than the last time we fought, I’d thought he’d use different pokemon as last time.
I had to admit, their performance was spectacular, In addition, I knew that I wasn’t going to win this round, and I was right.
“Cast your votes!” Aria shouted, the votes shone a bright golden yellow, with little hints of blue in the mix, it was obvious that I had lost. “The Kalos king wins this round! But never fear young prince, you still have two more rounds to make it really count! Speaking of, our next round will be a Battle!”
My heart shuddered, I knew that this was coming, but I didn’t realise how intimidating it was. I stood at the end of the battle field and Aria spoke.
“Alright, this will be a Singles battle, with the use of 5 pokemon, once they faint, they are out. Not only will you be judged on your battle skills but also you will be judged on your style of battle. So, with that said, may the battle begin, our prince shall get the first move.” Aria started.
“Alright then, Meowstic! Come out you spectacle!” I tossed my pokeball out onto the battlefield with ease and grace. Meowstic burst out of its pokeball and glided around the stage. Pierre had sent out Masqeurain out, quite intimidating really. “Meowstic! Don’t let Masqeurain intimidate you, and let’s hit this battle off with shadow ball!”
“Dodge it and use signal beam!” Pierre called out. Masqeurain cut through the shadow ball and hit a direct signal beam on Meowstic, immediately I knew that Meowstic was getting in a bad state, I knew that I was going to have to sacrifice it. “Use signal beam again!
“Meowstic! Use psychic! Follow that up with Future sight!” I ordered my pokemon. It executed both of those moves flawlessly and still had a little bit of fight left in it.
“Masqeurain execute a spectacular finish with Aerial ace!” Pierre called out. I was extremely worried.
“Meowstic-!” I cried as I saw meowstic land deep into the brick wall behind me.
“You see, a spectacular finish.” Pierre smirked.
“You fought well Meowstic, return and get some rest.” I smiled and returned my pokemon.
“You’re up Chandelure!” I tossed the pokeball onto the stage and Chandelure burst out. “Revenge your fallen ally! Use dark pulse!”
“Counter it Masqeurain!” The Kalos king ordered. The opposing pokemon hit the dark pulse with a signal beam, which rocked the stage with a seismic wave.
“Arceus help me.” I whispered under my breath.
“Feeling nervous?” The opposition mocked.
“Never, lets raise the heat Chandelure! Use Inferno!” A wave of confidence washed over my body, like the inferno did to the Masqeurain, causing it to faint.
“Impressive, but not enough to beat me.” Pierre chuckled, callously. He next sent out Klefki, I had a feeling it would be an easy battle, oh how I was wrong.
“Use flash cannon!” And like that, Chandelure was already dead.
“How!? Fire is super effective against Steel!” I shouted, seeing Chandelure on the floor.
“Type match ups mean nothing to this little thing.” Pierre petted his Klefki.
It was crazy, his klefki was crazy, crazy strong, everything I tried didn’t seem to work. Chandelure was defeated so easily, and so was Simipour after I sent it out. Klefki and Simipour went in a vicious circle of Klefki using Dazzling gleam and Simipour using Blizzard and Hydro pump, however it did begin to rain after the hydro pump. However, I still managed to get his Lapras, Roserade and Klefki down eventually.
“You must be feeling the pressure now!” Pierre smirked, a cruel smile.
“I can’t crack now.” I whispered to myself, even though it was falling on deaf ears, my panic became too overwhelming. And just like that, Pierre had sent out a pokemon, one that I knew was powerful.
“Salamence! Let’s show them all your beauty!” Pierre called out, Salamence roared and threw Florges off its game. “Intimidating isn’t it, a strong dragon type vs a weak fairy type.”
“There is one thing you underestimate about this fairy type.” I huffed. “Florges! Use Fairy wind!”
It was a direct hit; however, it didn’t do much damage, despite being super effective against Salamence. I was starting to get visibly shaken.
“Salamence.” The Kalos king stood with a powerful stance, no words were needed.
“Florges no!” I shouted, Florges was hit head on by Salamences stone edge. Unfortunately, Florges fainted.
“Both performers are down to their last pokemon! How thrilling!” Aria chuckled. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a battle this thrilling before!”
“Alright, I’m done messing around now.” I gripped onto my last pokemon, which contained my ace. “Altaria! Come out and give the people a show to remember!”
Altaria burst out of its pokeball and flew around the stage before landing before the Salamence.
“Use Draco Meteor!” Pierre spoke loudly.
“Dodge it and use Moonblast!” Altaria did my command and hit a moonblast on the Salamence.
Within seconds, the battle exploded into a relay of attacks, both sides doing lots of damage. Until I saw Pierre had a glint of panic in his eye, so he did something awesome, yet terrifying.
“Well, well. I didn’t expect having to use this at all.” Pierre took off his hat to reveal the crown, gleaming in the theatrical light, glittering with jewels, the metal shining brightly; the crown which sat upon his head had a Key stone encrusted in the middle of it. I looked at his Salamence and it had a tail bracelet with a mega stone in it, a Salamence. “My ace pokemon, show your true power to the audience, make everyone know exactly why you are an ace, no Jack, Queen or King! MEGA EVOLVE!”
Streams of light burst out of both opposing team members. It was an incredible sight; I was quite astounded. Soon enough, Mega Salamence appeared and was terrifyingly powerful.
“Use Hyper Beam!” Those words shook through me like a bell which never stopped ringing. I flinched and wasn’t able to get my words out in time for Altaria to dodge, it took the hit and lay on the floor, I cracked and fell to the floor too.
“Altaria! Please get up! Please! We can’t lose this!” I cried.
“It seems like this battle’s been wrapped up.” Aria sighed. “Unless Altaria gets up that is.”
I then thought, about Ash and Clemont and what they would do in this situation. It then clicked, a strategy.
“Altaria! We’ve come too close in our goal to give up now! I can see the finish line and we need to cross it together!” I spun around and clacked my fan. The keychain with my key stone glittered and a light exploded from it, likewise with Altaria’s mega stone. “Altaria! Let’s give the people something to gawk over! Take the Audience by storm and Mega Evolve!”
Altaria mega evolved and my outfit changed to my pure white fantasy, feather boa and full white pantsuit. The audiences jaws dropped to the floor in an incredible manner, they all gasped, even the Kalos king let down his guard too.
“Altaria! Use Draco Meteor!” I said, not giving any time for Pierre to react.
The move hit a direct hit and managed to get Salamence down quite low, however the pokemon hit back harder with a fire blast. It burnt Altaria quite badly, but that didn’t stop me from enacting out my plan.
“Altaria, don’t lose faith! Use Hurricane!” I shouted, smiling at my plan. “Now! Use Dragon rush and Follow the Hurricane around! Build as much speed as possible!” I was really starting to think like Ash now.
“Whatever your planning! It won’t work!” Pierre chuckled, a hint of anxiety in his tone.
“Altaria! Use Dragon Rush!” I shouted. Because Altaria had a much speed built up it allowed for an impactful move.
Salamence was on the floor. However, it still hadn’t fainted.
“Use fire blast Salamence!” Pierre shouted.
“Altaria! Use Moonblast!” I shouted even louder.
As the two moves hit each other, a wave of energy burst outwards towards the audience, the moves collision was extremely powerful. It looked like Salamence was winning the battle, I was infuriated.
“Altaria! Full throttle! We’ve come too far to give in anymore!” My screams became louder and louder, and it was like my screams were fuelling Altaria’s power. “DON’T HOLD BACK!”
The moonblast overpowered the fire blast completely, and after impact, it completely upturned the battlefields’ earth. I was astounded at the immense power of Altaria. I saw Salamence lay there, it was swaying from left to right. It then fell to one side and had fainted.
“All of the Kalos King’s pokemon are unable to battle, the winner of this challenge goes to Y/n!” Aria rejoiced. “Also, by far Y/n had the most style points.”
I ran up to altaria and hugged it, I was so happy. Both of us returned to our usual forms.
“So, the points go as followed.” Aria spoke. “Its one all! This last performance will truly decide on the outcome.”
My mind was set on one thing, that crown. I returned back to my dressing room and had a knock on my door.
“Come through!” I shouted, getting prepared for my finale performance. I turned around and saw a man, he had a had on and a scarf, he was quite odd if I had to describe him.
“Let’s hear what you have to say then.” He told me and sat down on my sofa.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
“That funny little gimmick you did with your pokemon when you mega evolved it.” I looked at the mirror and he stared at me with dead-cold eyes.
“I’m not stupid, I have you know young grasshopper, I’ve been in this game for over 25 years now.” He stated.
“In that case, how come I’ve never seen your face on television before?” I asked, turning around in my chair.
“You just think these performers can just show up and give memorable show? I’ll tell you what! They can’t, it’s the people behind the scenes, getting them dressed up, making the performance numbers, choreographing the whole thing. What makes you think that a gimmick like that is going to get you anywhere in this competition?” The man got progressively more aggressive.
“Listen here, and listen well. I have gotten this far in this competition, and I have had no help from anyone, maybe two or three people at max. But I have been the one to make everything happen and work. I have faced multiple challenges throughout my life, and what makes you think that I’m going to throw my passion away to make money? I’m not doing this to get a pretty piece of coin, I’m doing this to make everyone aware of situations which are overlooked by this society.” I became serious, blood coursing through my body.
“Well, you must realise that even if you are on the Edge of Glory, it will still come down like a house of cards.” The man said before leaving.
“We’ll see about that.” I smiled, doing my eye makeup.
After I got dressed up, I reflected on my journey, I held up my two pokeballs, the two that I had started with. I knew that they were going to come with me, to the win. I remembered what Olympia said too, “Take Altaria and Florges to the finale and you’ll succeed.” Or something along those lines.
“Y/n, time for your final performance.” The Producer called for me.
“Thank you Five!” I smiled, the sudden realisation that I was isolated set in.
I walked through the halls of the backstage and waited behind the door to my set of stairs.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage for our final performance, give it up for Y/n!” Aria shouted; the doors opened wide for me.
I walked down the stairs; my outfit was fabulous. My outfit was a redo of my original performance outfit, the one I had my great flop in. This time, it was a one-piece pantsuit, baby blue with fur accents on the bell sleeves and the palazzo style pants. I had matched jewellery and a top hat; this showed my final evolution.
As I got to the bottom of the stage I looked around and saw that The Kalos King stood beside me.
“This competition has seriously been great, and now its time for the big finish. This final performance will determine winner of this showcase; Will our current king reign supreme for another year, or will the tables turn and a new king is crowned? At the end of this performance, the votes will remain secret until the end. The audience, whether in the crowd or watching at home have the ability to vote in real time, however all votes are final.” Aria stood. “My monarchs, you will be performing The Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga, the prince Y/n will get a 30 second head start when being able to use his pokemon, good luck and don’t muck it up!”
I knew that this song meant a lot to me. And I knew that this was my last chance to prove that I was worthy of this title.
“Altaria, Florges. We’re back to where we started, I can see the finish line now, and I know you two can too.” I sniffled, looking at my pokeballs and getting emotional. “So, let’s go out there and create a show like no other!”
As soon as the song started Pierre and I were both in action. I was lip syncing the song to a T. Dancing on the stage, gracefully and with a lot of poise. I was so happy to be in the position I was in.
When the Chorus kicked in, both of us threw our pokeballs up into the air and they exploded. Altaria and Florges where creating beautiful explosions in different shapes.
Altaria used dragon rush and Florges used Aromatherapy on the dragon rush and it created a beautiful spectacle above the audience. I kept dancing below, because, like Tierno said, “As long as there is music I’ll keep dancing.”
I became really attached to the song, it was amazing, my emotions really blended with the song perfectly. Altaria and I were so in sync, that I mega evolved it. Florges used Fairy win and it created a fantastic sight, glitter falling down to the audience, they were touching it and all.
When the Saxophone part started I walked to the back of the stage mimicking playing the saxophone.
I next did a back bend, controlling my movements and almost falling to the ground but I had so much control that I didn’t fall. Slowly, Florges wrapped its vines around my waist, preparing for a big finish. As soon as those lyrics started again, I shouted.
“Florges Now!” I shouted. Next, I was propelled through an aromatherapy cloud and began flying above the audience, I danced through the sky, doing pirouettes and turns, flips dips and overall graceful gliding. Altaria followed behind me in a dragon rush, we both created a spectacle for the audience. I saw many people begin to vote too. I then flew above my friends and kissed Clemont on the cheek before returning to the stage once more. I began to dance even more until the final finisher.
Altaria used hurricane and Florges used fairy wind in the opposite direction, next, Florges used petal dance and Altaria used solar beam, together they collided and created a huge explosions in the form of a love heart which then shattered into microscopic glitters. We ended the performance with me and Florges in a flamenco style position, with Altaria above us shining like the sun it is.
The crowd went wild, everyone standing and clapping for the both of us. I barely got to look at the Kalos King’s performance.
“Outstanding performances from the both of you.” Aria smiled and clapped. “But now its time for the voting. My monarchs, please get into your assigned positions.”
At this point, I shut my eyes, I had all of my team out of their pokeballs now. It was a bittersweet moment. I was thinking about all of the people I’d helped or interacted with. Korina, Rowan, Tierno, Leo, Joaquin, Mother, Father, Olympia, Mr Locke and Violet. But there is one person who I needed to thank for everything he’s helped me with and through, Clemont. He’s been there for me when I wasn’t there for me. He’s shared all of my pain when I couldn’t take it anymore. He was there for me when my parents weren’t and above all else, he has always been so supportive of my dreams no matter what they were.
“We have the votes!” Aria smiled. “And, the winner of this year’s Showcase is….
Y/N!”
(Just some winners music)
Just as I heard those words, I fell to my knees, my pokemon were so overjoyed and I was a huge wreck. I had my hands on my face, tears spilled from every orifice. The crowd cheered so loudly for me.
“Congratulations my King!” Pierre helped me up. I then knelt slightly and received my crown, which rested upon my head. I was given a sceptre too. My pokemon all got tiaras to match. “Now my King! Prance I say! Prance and show Kalos who you are!”
I looked at the runway tears in my eyes still, I looked at my pokemon beside me, Altaria nodded, so did Florges, I nodded back to them and strutted down the runway one last time. When I got to the end of that runway I turned around quickly tossing the train that I had over the runway.
“My King, now you have the chance to speak out your message to the Kalos region, and also announce your rule.” Aria and Pierre smiled.
“Kalos! My name is Y/n L/n, and I am your new Kalos King! Thank you to everyone who believed in me. I hope to inspire every little boy and girl in Kalos, I hope to inspire them to follow their dreams and that they can grow up to be whatever they want to be! But, one more thing, my journey is still not completed.” I sniffled through my tears. “As for my rule, My rule as the New Kalos king is that; Everyone, no matter who they are, who they love or who they want to be, should not only be able to compete in the showcase competition but also be allowed to let their freak flag fly!”
“Thank you everybody and Good night!” I said before walking towards the exit. Everyone cheered for me.
After I got off of the stage and was about to leave the theatre, I was approached by a reporter. They were recording and the woman asked me.
“So, what are your plans now that you’ve won?” She asked me, live on air.
“Despite my huge win as Kalos King, my journey is not over yet.” I smiled.
“How so?” She asked again.
“My goal was to win the showcase and become the Kalos King, but I’ve gotten a new journey ahead of me. I want to continue travelling with my friends and watch them achieve their dreams, just like how they watched me achieve mine.” I smiled before walking towards Ash, Serena, Bonnie, Clemont, my mother and a face I never thought I’d see again.
“We are so proud of you, my son.” My father wrapped me up in a hug with my mother.
“Yes! We are so proud, so incredibly proud.” Mother smiled.
“I’m supposed to have a meeting right now but you are more important than that.” My father tossed his phone in his pocket. I looked and saw Clemont smile so widely.
“Thank you for always being there for me.” I hugged and kissed Clemont so much. I saw the others too. “I can’t forget you lot too!”
We all had a group hug and shared an extremely tender moment. A moment that I won’t ever forget.
“This is cause for a celebration!” I announced. “Dinner is on me!”
After we ate ourselves silly, it was time to separate from my parents and head towards our next target, Snowbell City, for Ash’s next Gym Badge. My parents stood outside of their car and looked at me.
“You’re going to be great kid.” My father chuckled.
“F/n, we need to go now.” My mother held my father’s hand.
“Please, if you get any downtime, please come visit Y/n. We love and will always love you.” Both of my parents got into the car and drove off.
“Right.” I chuckled and turned to the others. “Ash!”
“Yeah?” Ash tilted his head to me.
“You’re next! We need to get you to that League, and that with Wulfric!” I replied, pointing at Ash.
“Yeah!” Ash shouted. “But first….”
“Long live our Kalos King!” We all jumped up and shouted loudly.
And Just like that, I was the Kalos King, the new Kalos King. Ready to start a new era of performing arts, or what I have started to call drag.
