Reader POV

I was ectatic! We had finally reached Coumarine City! The crystal clear water, the bustling streets! This place was my dream! My swablu resting on my head thought so too.

“Finally! We’re here!” I shouted in pure joy, shedding a tear. 

“Can I get an ice cream?” Bonnie asked, pointing at the shop.

The man at the stall gave bonnie her ice cream, and also told us about a popular vanillite which was being treated in the pokemon centre.

“Lets go! I freaking love vanillites and vanillishes’ and vanilluxes!” I rejoiced. Although I see them rarely, I thought they were so cute!

So we decided to head towards the pokemon centre. This meant heading through a load of fields. On our trek, we saw a monorail and Clemont was being attacked by a horde of Victreebell. 

“Let me help you out Clem!” I ran towards the field and jumped on the fence. “Swablu! Use Aerial Ace!”

Within seconds, the violent pokemon subsided and retreated, leaving clemont on the floor. I went over to him and helped him up. Within seconds both of us were tied up in some sort of knot.

“Gogoat! Use grass Knot!” Suddenly, an old man appeared in front of us. “What do you kids think your doing!?”

“W-we’re sorry! W-e didn’t mean it!” Clemont remarked. We were let out of our restraints and were left gasping for air. 

“I meant it.” I mumbled.

“What was that boy?” The man held up a pair of scissors to my face.

“Nothing.” I remarked.

I didn’t get too good of vibes from this man. But after he gave us a long lecture as to why we shouldn’t be in the area, he pointed us in the direction of the pokemon centre in the main part of the city, beyond the monorail stop. This part of the city bustled with life and the creative arts. This part of the city was also home to the famous Hillcrest Alley, (Its so hard to make Santee Alley rhyme with anything) an iconic district, full of fashion and home to many Fabric stores.

We went into the Pokemon centre, bonnie was bustling with excitement to see the vanillite. Nurse Joy led us to the room that it was in. It peered around the table and floated up towards me. I outreached my hands for the vanillite hug me. I felt its icy body, it reminded me of Anistar city in the winter. After a while I came to sat with vanillite, it was amazing. We ended up getting the chance to feed the Vanillite, I stayed back to watch over it. The timings seemed odd, as only a minute after the others had left, 3 other nurse joys appeared. They ended up swindling Vanillite into a cooler box and ran away with it. I instantly got to my feet and chased after them. I saw the others and shouted to them.

“Vanillite was taken, call officer jenny!” I shouted, running out the pokemon centre and down the street. I heard the vanillites panicked cry, this only pushed me forward, even though my legs were burning at how fast I was running. Within seconds, a fierce blizzard kicked in, which began to seep through my body. As I approached the thieves they turned to me.

“Let that Vanillite go!” I shouted, they swiftly took off their disguises, which revealed a team rocket outfit. 

“I knew it!” I shouted. They chuckled and continued to run away. Suddenly, a vanillish and vanilluxe approached and used blizzard, Team rocket became frozen. They next turned to me and tried to freeze me. It began to work however I still had a fire in me which prevented me being frozen. With determination I tried to attack.

“Floette! Use fairy wind!” I shouted, releasing my pokemon to help me in the fight.

“Swablu! Use take down!” I took Swablu off my head and it blasted off towards the wild pair.

Floette was taken down and frozen instantly by an ice beam from the vanillish, I started to get panicked.

“Floette!” I screamed, catching floette in my arms. I returned it and focused on Swablu.

Swablu tried its best to avoid the ice but it was too much, vanilluxe ended up freezing the wings of my swablu. I fell back, my feet beginning to freeze up. I started to cry at my predicament. Swablu came crashing down in my arms. Every tear froze to ice, my body becoming extremely cold. I looked down at my swablu and said.

“Swablu, please, help me out.” I cried. “SWABLU, PLEASE!”

I clutched tightly, bracing for an ice beam to my face. However, something awoke in swablu, it was astounding to see. Swablu, it broke out of its ice, by using a new move. Its wings grew large, and became a grey, metallic colour. Within seconds, my little pokemon flew towards the Vanilluxe, who shot the ice beam. Swablu struck the aggressive pokemon with an intense blow, which sent it tumbling down.

“Jumpluff! Use sunny day!” I heard a familiar voice, “Sunflora! Use Solar beam!” 

I saw my friends running towards me, Clemont in front. He picked me up and helped me to my feet.

“Are you ok Y/n?” He asked, worry in his tone.

“Yeah, I am.” I chuckled, knowing that Swablu had learned a new move. Team rocket had then trapped all of the evolutionary forms of vanillite and began to freeze everything.

“We need to help!” Ash shouted.

“Luxio, use Discharge!” Clemont shouted.

“Fennekin, use Flamethrower!” Serena pointed towards the machine.

“Dedenne, use thunder shock!” Bonnie joined in with the battle.

“Pikachu, use thunderbolt!” Pikachu used thunderbolt on request of ash.

“Swablu! Use Solar beam!” I shouted.

The attacks were blocked by the icy blizzard. The man, from before, helped us out by blocking the attacks from the air vent of the machine.

“You can finish this off quickly!” The man said to me.

“Alright then!” I said, the others began their attacks, which were to follow after me. “Swablu! Use Steel Wing!”

Almost instantly, the machine was broken and the awful band of thieves were sent away flying. We had also released the three pokemon trapped inside. It was an amazing sight to see. the vanillite being reunited with its family.

When we returned to the pokemon centre, it was with heavy heart that I had to say goodbye. Just as the pokemon began to fly away, the Vanillite returned to me, and hugged me. Ash handed me a pokeball behind my back. I thought for a moment. The vanillite clung on to me, it wanted me to catch it, but I couldn’t, something inside of me prevented me from doing it. As me and the vanillite parted from the hug I dropped the pokeball and said.

“I’m sorry, I can’t do it.” I shook my head, tears in my eyes. Vanillite looked sad too. The others were confused. I had a brief idea. I ran inside of the pokemon centre, and like two seconds later I came back out, without my vest this time.

“Here, something to remember me by.” I held up a tiny scarf that I had created from my vest. I wrapped it around the vanillite and watched it smile as it flew away from us. I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sadness. However, without hesitation, Clemont and the rest of the team wrapped themselves around me in a hug. My tears fell on listening ears, it was great knowing that there are people who actually take my feeling seriously.

Whilst in reflection. It dawned on me. I have lost a piece of clothing for every pokemon I’ve helped. Its like im being freed from my life before.

Somewhere else in Coumarine City.

“It won’t be long now darling.” A man remarked, looking out of a hotel window, onto the moonlit port.

“I want him home. Now!” A woman sat on the edge of the bed.

“So do I. But, our son is here. I’m sure of it. We will bring him home from this disgusting and sinful life.” The man’s expression became cold.

“That disgusting gym leader, she ruined our precious baby.” The woman clenched a glass in her hand.

“He could’ve been successful, with thousands of pokemon at his will, but she made him do this.” The man threw a pokeball out of the window. A Crobat was released. 

“Crobat! Find my son this instant, or I will smash our pokeball and beat you until you’re unable to fly.” The callous man ordered his pokemon.

“Liepard, you do the same darling.” The woman’s liepard jumped out of the window and began patrolling the streets of Coumarine city.

“We will find him. And bring him home. Our son, Y/n.” They both sat and chuckled evily.

This has to be my favourite chapter by far! I actually had a huge struggle deciding if I wanted to change my original plan with the next pokemon the reader catches, or stay the same. I decided to stay the same on this one. But be warned, the next pokemon the reader catches appears very soon. Hope you enjoyed the chapter!
