(Y/N)’s POV
After changing into our hero costumes, we gathered at the foot of a giant metal gate. A huge wall connected on wither side of it and encircled what I’ve come to learn is a destroyed city, built for the purposes of training. All might stood in front of us in his own hero costume and told us our activity.
All Might “Now that everyone has gathered, let me explain what you’ll be doing!”
The chatter of the class ceased as All Might’s booming voice alerted everyone and pulled their attention towards him.
All Might “On this activity, we will test your combative and perhaps even your ability to cooperate should you chose to form teams. Your objective is to destroy as many robots as possible in order to gain as many points! As is with your entrance exam, the larger the enemy, the more points you will get. You will be organized at random and dropped off via drone at random positions. You are allowed to form teams but the points for the destruction of a robot is counted individually. Once in, you must wait until the alarm is rang before you start gathering points. Furthermore, you are allowed to steal targets and even hinder your other classmates to secure more points to yourself. Any questions?”
The class erupted into silent discussions with each other but none asked any questions. Kamita leaned towards me and whispered a snarky remark.
Kamita “Hear that? You can steal points and stop others, you’re gonna have a lot of fun here aren’t ya?”
I couldn’t help but smile smugly, confirming his suspicions on how I feel about this test.
All Might “No questions? Very well! Good luck to you all!!”
Platform drones dropped all around us, each with a screen that seems to be loading. After a few seconds, all the screens stop simultaneously and displayed our names. I boarded on the one that displayed mine and to my surprise, I stood right next to Todoroki who just boarded his. He took a glance at me with his usual near-expressionless face and said a simple “good luck” to which I responded.
(Y/N) “You too.”
I gave him a competitive smile and I saw the edges of his mouth go up a bit. We didn’t have any more time to talk as my drone began to rise up, eventually passing the height of the walls where I saw in clear detail the battlegrounds. Destroyed, abandoned, concrete buildings with narrow roads intersecting to form neat blocks. The stereotypical layout of a city.
The drone moved forward and eventually landed itself on the roof of one of the buildings – somewhat center-ish relative to the city. I stepped off of it and the drone flew back up. Looking below me, I saw a cluster of some smaller robots walking about and a bit further away, another group with one of the medium-sized robot. Above me, I saw a few other drones flying overhead. Two minutes passed and an alarm was rang which indicated that it’s time to start.
I gathered my energy in my arms and legs before jumping off the building, and slamming my fist into the ground as I land. The roads cracked and sunk under me as dust and small debris blew everywhere. i got up and saw that my attack had already wiped out all the robots in that cluster, though it seems to have caught the attention of the other group I mentioned earlier.
They charged towards my direction, but shatter into bits of metal at the impact of every energy orb I launch. Two tried to sneak up behind me, but a with a simple raise of the hand, I was able to crush them with my telekinesis.
Seeing as all the robots near my area have been eliminated, I moved on to find more. It didn’t take long before I started hearing yelling and the sound of metal being hit. Presumably from my classmates. For now though, I’d rather round up as many points as I can rather than observe the fun. Besides, it looks like the noise brought a few more groups of robots to my doorstep…
*Timeskip*
I think I’m beginning to see the twist in this particular test. I’ve destroyed many robots but they were always of the lower point ones. It’s been a solid 15 minutes and I’ve yet to see even one of the robots who hold more than 2 points per their destruction. Numbers of possible points are becoming scarce, and with scarcity comes greed… It’s only a matter of time before the more ambitious of us start to turn on each other…
All Might “Well done so far everyone! Now, I am sure you have noticed the lack of high-point villains in the battlefield. This is all part of the test! As of the end of this announcement, there will be gold-coloured 3 robots released holding 25 points each! Find them and eliminate them! This is a chance for those of you with low points to redeem yourself!”
The transmission was over, and following radio-silence, explosions came from a distance as buildings began to crumble into ash and broken pieces of concrete. It would seem Bakugou has resorted to destroying the buildings around him in order to get his target. Considering his aggressive style, it’s fair to assume he probably has roughly the same amount of points I do… which means finding this golden robot will be the difference between win or loss.
More buildings fell in front of me, and from the ground arose one of the giant robots. The ones with zero points attached to them.
I didn’t have much time to contemplate my options as I heard the sounds of rushing footsteps from behind me. Looking back, I saw Kirishima and Kaminari headed towards me.
Kirishima “Oi! (Y/N)!”
They stopped a few steps away as I fully turned around to face them.
Kirishima “You heard the announcement right? There are 3 gold robots worth 25 points each!”
Kaminari “Yeah. man, we need those… Wanna help us find it? 3 of them and three of us, we could get one each!”
I stayed quiet for a bit and contemplated. These two aren’t exactly the fastest in terms of speed, nor are they particularly agile. It’s understandable that they probably wouldn’t have racked up as many points as me so they’re not a threat. But knowing that they have connections to Bakugou…
(Y/N) “All right. Let’s team up! And even after one of us finds the golden robot, we have to help the others find one too.”
Kirishima “All right!”
Kaminari “It’s a deal!”
(Y/N) “Though considering our circumstance, We’re gonna need a faster way to travel around.”
Kirishima “How are we gonna do that?”
I looked back at the giant robot I saw earlier. The goliath may have a value of zero points, but perhaps it can be useful some other way…
(Y/N) “I’ve got a few ideas…”
