It had been well over 4 days since Luke made a complete wuss of himself in the arms of Clive. Despite Clive’s assurances that it did not matter Luke liked to think otherwise. He didn’t regret it, Clive was the first person who ever showed him any compassion and he would fully take him on the offer.
They hung out every other day like they were the best of friends. They even exchanged numbers so they could track each other down without any hassle. Everything seemed perfect to Luke; he had even been invited to have lunch with Clive’s friends but had kindly declined the offer. A few of Clive’s mates had even had the heart to smile at him every time they crossed paths, there was no doubt they were aware that Clive ditched them on a daily only to have lunch with Luke and the fact that it didn’t bother them made Luke realise that maybe people weren’t that bad.
Luke was having dinner with his parents peacefully when,
“Aunt Felicity is coming over for dinner tomorrow,” his mum said, eyes fixed on her plate.
‘No fucking way.’
Luke just looked over at his mum with a pained expression.
“And the boys.” His dad added with a curt nod as he reminded his wife.
‘Absolutely not. Not the sodding boys.’ Luke thought, now looking over at his dad. He didn’t know why he did that, it’s not like he was actually saying this out loud for his parents to notice his distress.
Luke didn’t hate the twins he just couldn’t put up with their bullshit, he had for all his childhood that was until they had to leave town after aunt Felicity’s nasty divorce. Having them back would just bring back memories, memories Luke wished Will and Sam took with them for good.
“They landed themselves dirt bikes after the alimony” his father said with an amused expression to which his mum just shook her head clearly disappointed.
Luke wasn’t surprised, they were spoiled rotten and this whole divorce thing had them experiencing the best of both worlds with both of their parents trying to get them on their respective sides. He’d bet a tenner that Will and Sam were living their best tory lives in some posh neighbourhood.
“Which means we’ll be having dinner as early as 5 in the afternoon.” his mum reminded them.
“Ah shite.” his dad grumbled before mum sent him a glare.
Luke had lost his appetite about 6 minutes ago when this conversation had started, he excused himself from the table and made his way to his room, planting himself face first onto the sheets.
He couldn’t have Will and Sam over on such short notice, he’d have to mentally prepare to face them. Don’t get him wrong Luke really did love them they always made sure Luke was involved but that’s where the problem lay, he didn’t want to be involved.
Maybe he should text Clive.
Maybe he shouldn’t.
He didn’t want to fully abuse his right to text Clive, that was only meant for emergencies plus he didn’t want to unload his minor miseries onto Clive.
So he didn’t.

Luke was making his dad some eggs for breakfast, the man couldn’t even crack the egg open.
His mum had to work on Saturdays but his dad who worked at the university had the day off.
Today was the day. He was only annoyed. He had a Saturday routine, well he had a routine for everyday and really didn’t appreciate people barging into them except if it was Clive, Clive got best friend (more like only friend) privileges. Luke had learnt to work his schedule around having Clive over, he’d managed…somehow.
Luke was called down to help set the table by his mum at around 4, once done he practically fell onto the couch and turned the telly on. His mum smacked him on the head, snatched the remote and turned the telly off.
‘Can’t have shit in this house.’
Soon enough there was a knock on their door and Luke’s miserable life got even more miserable.

Luke stood between Sam and Will who went on and on about the birds they had scored over the years while aunt Fel and his mum were chatting away as his dad looked properly out of place.
“We brought one of the motorbikes over, so you could have a go on it!” Sam said grinning at the younger boy.
The twins were 3 years older than Luke and weirdly enough they were quite fond of him.
Luke absentmindedly agreed to whatever Sam had told him. He couldn’t think, he was too hungry.
Thankfully they all sat at the table to partake of the meal.
Aunt Fel had asked how Luke had been doing and of course asked about his love life.
The entire table’s eyes were now on him and Luke feared he might just burst out in a fit of laughter at the totally ludicrous thought of him having some sort of love life.
They probably didn’t know how difficult it was for Luke to get himself a friend and here they were asking about getting himself a girl…or a boy, it didn’t matter.
He’d know when he met the right person.

Clive was bored to death. But
He wanted to see Luke, he was racking his head to come up with an excuse but he found none. There was no reason to meet Luke so maybe he shouldn’t.
Of course this didn’t stop him as he found himself making his way toward Luke’s house. It wouldn’t be like he was intruding because he was well versed in Luke’s schedule, he knew that Luke was free after 4 on a Saturday and boldly made his way to the boys house.
He shouldn’t have done that though, by the looks of it Luke had guests over.
Clive hadn’t walked all the way to Luke’s but could see pretty well from down the street. Luke was sat on some sort of bike and had two tall guys fawning and gawking over him.
‘Oh, he’s wearing my hoodie…sexy.’ Clive felt a blush creep onto his face as he saw Luke’s figure trying to stay still on the motorbike, his raven hair slightly ruffled by the wind. Clive’s bad boy fantasies had come alive and he had to leave before he got hard. Besides, he couldn’t just stay there and watch like a stalker.
Even though he couldn’t fully hang out with Luke Clive didn’t regret his decision to go over to the boys place. He got to see Luke looking like that.
Clive entered the pub, he had come this far may as well get something to eat. He decided to leave Luke a message.
“I know i shoulda asked before I decided to show up unannounced
but was fully expecting you to be free tonight :/ ” he hit send and was surprised when his phone started to ring. Luke?
“Hello?” Clive asked into the phone.
“Where are you.” Luke more or less demanded.
“Uh…The Minstrel.” he said as he dug into his pie.
“The minstrel? What are y-
Never mind. I’ll be there in a few” Luke said before ending the call.
You see The Minstrel was your average pub, it could have been quite popular amongst the teens if it wasn’t owned by a hard arse 40 something man who couldn’t stand the sight of happy kids.Â
It was getting dark which meant it was beginning to get colder, Clive didn’t want to leave the warm pub but wouldn’t stop getting nasty glares from the barman who was rather sceptical of the younger boy.
He was standing outside trying to keep himself warm by rubbing his hands together but boy was it cold.
Luckily for him Luke showed up right then.
“Alright grandad, had your pint?” Luke mocked once he neared the other boy.
Clive playfully shoved him and quickly pulled the sleeves of his jumper to cover his freezing fingers.
“Did you just ditch your friends?” Clive asked slightly worried.
“They were gonna leave anyways. Also, that was Will and Sam” he said as he walked bedsides Clive.
‘Oh the infamous Will and Sam.’ Clive recalled as he whistled.
“Sorry I didn’t tell you about them visiting, would have saved you the trouble of…this” Luke said as he pointed toward the pub. “I just didn’t wanna seem…I don’t know, clingy?”
“Clingy?” Clive snorted.
“Yeah like Emily.” Luke said as he pulled a face of disgust.
“Bless her.” Clive laughed.
Emily was one of Clive’s friends who was super clingy to her boyfriend.
“It’s okay, I mean it’s like you really are my boyfriend.” Clive said, pointing towards his hoodie that Luke had on.
‘Oh way to go making your crush on him even more obvious.’ he couldn’t even meet Luke’s eyes after he had subtly outted himself.
Luke just looked down at the hoodie and twiddled with its drawstrings.
“Boyfriend hoodie.” He said absentmindedly as he twiddled away.
They continued walking around aimlessly like they always did when Luke noticed Clive shuddering.
“Are you cold?” he asked stupidly.
“What? Noooo.” Clive wanted to seem like he could handle the silly weather even though he really couldn’t.
“Here let me take this of-”
“NO” Clive almost yelled as he tried to squat away Luke’s hands that were trying to remove the hoodie he was wearing to give it to the shivering Clive.
“But it’s yours?” Luke was confused as to why Clive didn’t want it back.
“I know…” Clive grumbled looking away, clearly not liking how weak he seemed.
Luke found it adorable though.
“Clive. I know I’m your boyfriend and all but you’re one step away from being completely frozen and really need this back.” He said pointing to Clive’s hoodie that he had on
Clive didn’t need the hoodie now as he could feel the warmth in his face.
Luke just laughed heartily at the other boy’s expense, he was having the time of his life.
“Here,” he said as he took one of Clive’s hands into his own and shoved them into the large pocket of the hoodie.
Luke looked over at Clive who had been staring at him all along, he quickly looked away and Luke chuckled at the reaction.
He’d like being boyfriends.
