The next day came and Seungho was awoken by his blaring alarm, he reluctantly left his bed and went to take a shower and changed into a pair of black jeans and a blue button-up shirt, he took a jacket and went to the kitchen to heat up some food Yooa brought him the night before.
He ate and once he was done he collected his phone, the files for work and his wallet and put on his shoes, and left his apartment. He walked out of the building and was hit by a cold gust of wind, he increased the speed he was walking at so he could reach the building faster.
As he got closer to the company he saw a boy walking with a camera busy speaking to it, the voice sounded familiar but he couldn’t care much. He wasn’t used to Seoul’s winter so he just wanted to get to work so he could be in a warm room.
When he passed the boy he heard his name being called he turned around and saw that the voice belonged to the boy.
“Hi Chris,” he said as the boy rushed over to him.
“Hi, are you heading to work?” he asked.
“Yep, I wanted to get there early to just try to get used to the space”
“That’s a good idea, I am heading to the studio now, my vlive is almost over but do you want to greet our fans?”
“Oh sure… your fandom is Stay right?”
“Yep”
“Hi Stay, please take good care of Channie Hyung and the rest of SKZ,” Seungho said and waved at the camera.
The two kept walking and when Chan ended his vlive the two just talked a bit catching up on somethings.
“So… what happened back then? You were in the last competition for the Olympic picks, right? What happened, why did you just disappear like that?”
“Did you keep track of me? You already left by that time” Seungho said, trying to avoid the topic.
“Of course I did, you are an amazing figure skater I wanted to see how far you will go but then you just disappeared, so now instead of avoiding the topic tell me what happened back then,” Chan said, he was serious and Seungho couldn’t find himself not telling the older boy what happened.
“Ah, that? Well, I was running through my program again and when I was doing one of my jumps, I fell and got badly injured, I wasn’t allowed to skate for a long time until I got better and by the time I was better I didn’t want to skate anymore, I lost my motivation to go on so I just stopped, it’s kind of stupid isn’t it to just give up like that” Seungho said with a small sigh.
“Have you ever tried skating just for fun afterward? You probably had a lot of pressure on you back then and your injury probably took a lot out of you, slowly going back just for fun not for competitions just trying to find your love for it again” Chan said in a calm tone.
Seungho thought about it a little, just skating for fun. He has never done it before it seemed impossible since he was younger he only knew how to skate competitively his mother always fought with him if he showed he was enjoying it.
“I don’t know how to have fun on the ice,” Seungho said, a little bitter.
“Well then I am going to show you how to let loose and just enjoy it, we are going skating when we both have time off and you can’t say no,” Chan said excitedly.
All Seungho could do was laugh nervously, he wasn’t sure if he had to confidence to step back on the ice, it seemed scary as he hasn’t stepped foot in an ice rink in a few years but somehow he felt a little part of him being excited when he was younger the rink was like his home.
The two split up when they got to the company, Seungho went to the classrooms and Chan went to his studio.
Seungho prepared his class he wanted to get to know his students as much as possible, he wanted to know their level of English so he prepared a game for them to play for the day and then he wanted to tell them about a test he had planned to check their level, he felt teaching everyone from the basics wouldn’t work as some might have a higher level of English than others.
His class started soon enough and came to an end quicker than he expected, time flew by but he really enjoyed it. Everyone was nice and high spirited which made the class a lot more fun.
When Seungho got back to his apartment he sat down on the sofa, his head was running to the past and he thought about the times where he skated before his injury he tried finding times where he had fun on the ice but only found it when he was young and he just started out.
He remembered how he watched a video of figure skaters and how he was amazed by how they could move. At first, he didn’t know men could skate. He thought it was a sport just for girls but then he came across male skaters and after begging his parents to let him try he did.
And he loved it more than anything but once it got too competitive skating his mother got involved and she became too serious and it caused Seungho to lose the fun he found in skating, thinking back caused him to long for the ice, he longed for the fun he could have by just gliding across it.
And at that moment Seungho realized that it wasn’t that he lost his love for skating but he lost his love for skating the way his mother wanted him to.
