I grabbed my bag and left my class as soon as the bell rings. Right then, I’m met with my girlfriend, Kazuha and my best friend Sakura. “Hey babe” Kazuha says, kissing me on the cheek. “Hi” I say back. “Can you too actually get a room? the whole school doesn’t need to know your dating” Sakura says in mock-disgust.

“Oh hush, kkura. your just mad you don’t have a cute girlfriend to give affection too” Kazuha says, wrapping her arms around my waist. I giggle and she lets go. We immediately start walking to class. “So, did you guys see the new montier?” Sakura asks. “Yeah, She seems nice” Kazuha says, I nod in agreement.

We soon arrive at my class and I walk inside, Taking my stuff out and waiting for class to start. The teacher takes attendance and I raise my hand when the teacher calls my name. then she starts the lesson. I pay attention, and silently takes notes. then the new hall monitor pops in my mind. I’m confused, I barely know her. And she could be, like 30. I focus on the lesson, quickly forgetting about her momentarily.

I exit class and I just head to my next class. on the way there, I run into the new hall monitor. She waves at me with a kind and friendly smile. I smile back and wave to her. then I continue walking.

why do I keep thinking of her? this is weird.

I enter class and the teacher closes the door as soon as the bell rings.

at lunch

I enter the cafeteria, the smell of sweaty kids and nasty cafeteria food fills my nostrils. I make a disgusted face and walk inside. I see Sakura and Kazuha sitting at a table and I walk over. “Hey” I say causally. “Hi baby!” Kazuha says. “Finally you made it Chae” Sakura jokes. “Hey!” I whine.

“So, who’s getting the food” Sakura says impatiently. One thing to know about her is she loves food. “I will” Kazuha says, then gets up and heads to the lunch line. I sit there on my phone, scrolling through Instagram.

Sakura is also on her phone, but she’s on TikTok. I can tell, she’s laughing. suddenly, I feel Sakura tap my shoulder. “What?” I say quietly. “Look who came in the cafeteria” She says, pointing to the door. I turn around to see Ms. Huh standing there. she’s leaning against the wall, on a phone.

She must be in here for her job. to watch us with Mr. Park. I turn back to Sakura. “Why?” I say. “I don’t know, but everyone is curious why she just shows up in the middle of December” Sakura says, then Kazuha returns with our lunch trays. “Yes! food” Sakura cheers softly, then immediately digs in her tray.

I chuckle softly and take a bite of my food. Kazuha starts a conversation and Sakura joins in. I just sit and listen.

I look around the cafeteria, I spot the Sophomore, Hong Eunchae. She’s pretty nice and I’ve talked to her in the library while studying before. I smile to myself and turn back to Sakura and Kazuha.

I stare at the clock in my last class for the day, waiting for the school day to be over. I just wanna go home. finally the bell rings, and I grab my bag. Then an idea comes to my mind, and I find myself walking to Ms. Huh’s office.

I stand in front of her door, I take a deep breath and I knock on it. I hear a soft “Come in” on the other side and I push open the door, closing it behind me. “Um, Hi” I say, awkwardly. “Hi, Um you need something” She says, looking away from her computer.

“Sorry, I just saw you throughout the day and thought it would be good to introduce myself” I say, feeling very awkward. “Okay” she says. “Well I’m Chaewon” I say, holding my hand out to her, with a friendly smile. She takes my hand and shakes it. “Yunjin, but in school it’s Ms. Huh” She says, smiling back.

I nod. “Well-” I say, but I’m interrupted by someone entering the office. I turn around to see Eunchae. she tilts her head to the side. “Chaewon? I didn’t think you would be in here” She says, now standing next to me. “You know her Manchae?” Yunjin says. “Yeah, we’ve talked before” Eunchae replies. and here I stand, confused. “You two know each other” I say, looking back and forth from Yunjin to Eunchae.

“Ms. Huh is my older sister” Eunchae says. “Oh, I didn’t know” I say. “It’s okay” the orange haired girl says, smiling. I smile back. “I came here because it’s the end of the day and it’s time to go home” Eunchae says. then Eunchae turns to me. “What are you here for?” she says, in a curious tone. “I thought I should introduce myself” I say. “Oh, well now you two know each other” she says.

“Yep, so I should get out of your way, Bye” I say, then I leave. After the door shuts behind me, I sigh. Then I head to the front doors of the school to head home.
