HUH YUNJIN

I’m driving in my car, to drop Eunchae off at home. “You know Chaewon?” I ask her. “Yeah, I was studying once and she was studying too. we had a nice conversation” Eunchae explains. I nod. “Know anything about her?” I ask.

“She’s very popular for her looks, she’s dating the captain of the school’s dance team, Kazuha. Chaewon isn’t like the popular girls in the movies. She’s actually really sweet. unless you crossed her, then she hates your guts. but it’s usually for a very good reason, like if you cheat on her or hurt one her friends” Eunchae explains.

I nod. the rest of the car ride is silent. I pull up to Mom’s house and Eunchae gets out. “Hey, remember to be up at 6:30 every morning” I say. she nods and I watch as she walks inside. then I drive to my house.

I was only staying with my mom for a week, I moved out 6 months ago. but I visit my mom pretty often. I turn on my playlist and Nayeon starts playing. Jihyo says her and Momo used to be good friends with Nayeon. She even had pictures and told crazy stories.

I pull into my driveway, and I unlock the front door to my house. I walk inside and I shut the door behind me. I sigh and decide to take a relaxing bath. I grab my essential oils and bath salts. then I grab my book and I turn on the warm water. Once it’s full enough, I turn the water off and I add my oils and salts. Then I strip and get in. I grab my book and open to the page I left off on.

My phone is playing some relaxing music, I focus intently on my book. then Chaewon comes to mind. And I feel my heart ache. I shake my head and focus on my book again. I should not be thinking of a literal 17 year old like this, or is she 18? I don’t know. still, she could be a minor.

I’m in the bath hours. It’s a good thing I live alone. once I feel relaxed, I drain the water and I dry myself off. Then I put my pajamas on and brush my teeth. then I climb into bed, and I scroll through my phone before bed. once I’m tired, I put my phone down and plug it in. then I go to sleep.

the next day

I get up when my alarm goes off and I put on my work clothes. then I call Jihyo. “Yes Honey?” she says. “Morning Mom, is Eunchae awake?” I ask. “Yep, she’s just eating breakfast right now” She says. “Great, I’m about to come pick her up” I say. “Okay sweetheart, I’ll let her know” She says, then I hang up. Slipping my shoes on and grabbing my work bag. then I grab my keys and head out the door.

I beep my horn and Eunchae rushes out the house. Eunchae opens the car door and climbs in. “Morning” I say. “Morning” She says in a tired voice. “Mom woke you up huh?” I say, and she nods. I start the engine to my car and we drive off to the school.

We arrive and we just head straight to my office, then again. Eunchae leaves my office once the bell rings. but today, someone comes in. I look up to see Chaewon. “Morning Ms. Huh” she says, in a sweet voice. “Morning, Chaewon” I say back, in a friendly voice.

“You should get to class” I say to her. “Right” she says, then leaves my office. I smile to myself after she leaves.

She’s so sweet

I continue to work. Checking and responding to emails. Seeing if I have to cover anything. Taking calls and everything in between. then I recieve a text from Eunchae on my personal phone. I put it out and read the message.

Manchae 😵‍💫: do you have pads and extra clothes?

YUNJIN: yes, why?

Manchae 😵‍💫: I got my period. I’m in the bathroom rn

YUNJIN: okay, come to my office and get the stuff, then I’ll unlock the staff bathroom and you can change in there, we’re the same size clothes Eunchae. and mom give me extra underwear for you yesterday

Manchae 😵‍💫: okay, coming

I put my phone down and I open the drawer. there’s a bag with the underwear and pants in there. Then I grab a couple pads for her. Eunchae soon enters my office. we both leave my office and I unlock the staff bathroom across from my office, once I open it I hand Eunchae the stuff and she goes inside to change.

I wait patiently outside for her. minutes later, she comes out. her bloody clothes in the bag. “Thanks unnie” she says, smiling. “Your welcome” I say, taking the bloody bag from her hands. I put it in my office before I escort her back to class.

We reach her class and she goes inside. I like my head in to let her teacher know she was with me. Her teacher nods and I leave. heading back to my office.
