HUH YUNJIN

I open the door to my office and put the bag with Eunchae’s bloody clothes in the drawer. then I close it and I get back to work. I was almost done anyways, I finish work and I go on my personal phone. Scrolling through my tiktok, waiting until I have to go to the cafeteria to watch the kids during their lunch period.

When I get a text from the principal on my work phone saying I don’t have to go in the cafeteria, that Park Jimin would be in there. I reply with okay, and decide to eat my lunch.

The bell rings for lunch, I just continue eating.

Minutes later, There’s a knock at my office door. I quickly set my lunch down. “Come in” I say politely. It’s Chaewon, and she holding a tray full of food. “Ah, Chaewon. Why are you here?” I ask. “Sorry, it’s just the cafeteria is really noisy today, and my head hurts” She says.

“You should go to the nurse if your head hurts” I say. “I did, she said not be in loud places and give me this ice pack” she says, holding up the ice pack. “Ah, well you can sit in here for lunch” I say, then I take a bite of my lunch. I just continue scroll quietly. I had out my headphones in but kept one out.

Chaewon just eats in silence, staring at the wall. I feel bad for the girl, This school is loud so I understand her headache. But I find myself staring for a bit too long, admiring her beauty. I immediately turn back to my phone before she notices I was staring at her.

Soon, Lunch ended and Chaewon threw her lunch away in the trash can near the door. “I’m gonna go, thanks for letting me sit in here” She says with a sweet smile. I smile back. “Your welcome” I say and she leaves my office to go to class.

For some reason, My heart started aching after she left. It’s like I didn’t want her to leave. This is weird. I try to calm down my aching heart. Mentally telling myself that she’s a minor and I shouldn’t be feeling like this.

Then, Eunchae walked in my office, with a girl behind her. “Woah, What’s going on?” I ask, raising an eyebrow. “Oh! This is Kazuha” Eunchae quickly says. Then Kazuha waves. I can see why Chaewon would date her, she’s pretty. But my heart ached at that thought. I pushed my aching heart down.

“Okay, Why are you two here?” I ask. “The principal is ushering everyone into rooms, says it’s an emergency and your room is near the bathroom, which is where we were” Kazuha explains. I nod my head. “Well, just sit down and stay quiet. Don’t go on your phones, I will be right back, Eunchae lock the door once I leave. I have the key” I instruct, the girls nod. I sigh and head out the room. once the door closes, I hear Eunchae walk up to the door and lock it.

Then I walk away from my office and around the school like all the other hall staff, to make sure it’s safe. I’m sure like half the school isn’t in there correct class. I walk when I spot a figure. It’s dressed in all black. It doesn’t look like anyone who works here and all the students are in rooms for safety. “Hey!” I shout and the figure notices me and starts running. I immediately chase after it.

as I’m running, I ring all the other hall staff on the walkie talkie the school gave me. Informing them that there’s a suspicious black figure in the school. Soon, Jimin is at the corner the figure is coming from. It tries to run in the other direction. but I’m right there, Then it goes to the empty hall. and both me and Jimin chase him.

It’s a wild goose chase, but eventually I tackle the figure. It struggles against me but I hold it down. I get up, still gripping it’s arm. Jimin grabs the other one, mirroring my grip and we bring it to the principals office. The police are already here and waiting in the principals office.

Once we get there, after struggling with the figure. The police demand the figure to reveal itself. They take off the mask they were wearing and it’s a young boy. It looks like he’s at least a freshman in college. Mr. Si-hyuk recognizes him.

“Mr. Choi? what are you doing here?” He says, in a surprised voice. “I’m sorry, but I needed to talk to her” He says. “Talk to who? You’re in college and she’s moved on” Jimin says. “I know but I really needed too, I have to fix this” He protests.

I sit silently through the whole thing, I’m so confused. Talk to who? from what I have heard, I just this kid used to attend this high school. I cross my arms, and he notices me. “Who are you? I don’t remember you working here” he says, eyeing me. “My name is Huh Yunjin” I say. “Okay-” He says, but Jimin interrupts him.

“This is Choi Yeonjun, he was big when he went here, He’s also my cousin” He says. I nod. “You two stay here with Mr. Choi, I’m going to talk to the police” Mr. Si-hyuk says, then him and the police walk into the other room. “You have to let me talk to her” Yeonjun pleads to Jimin. “Dude, She moved on, you’re not going to get her back” He says. Still, I sit confused.

Who was this girl Yeonjun wanted to talk to so badly?

“I don’t care, I just wanna fix things between us” He says in desperation. “Well, your probably going to get arrested since you broke into the school” He says to his cousin. Then the police come back in and cuff Yeonjun. Yeonjun is pleading to let him talk to whoever he wants to talk too.

I watch in silence as the police take him away, then I head back to my office. I unlock the door to see Eunchae and Kazuha sitting there in silence. “Is it okay? can we go back to class?” Kazuha asks. I nod and the principal makes an announcement, stating that everyone can go back to class.

The two girls leave my office and I sit in my chair, I let out a sigh. One question still lingers in my mind.

Who did that guy want to talk too?
