Two Days Later

Takemichi sat quietly, his heart heavy with sadness. It had been two days since he found out that Mikey and Draken had to leave for the entire cold season. The news had hit him hard, and the silence in the cave felt even colder than the approaching winter.

None of them had seen it coming.

Not even Mikey or Draken, who were usually prepared for anything.

That night, they returned to the cave looking completely drained, their eyes hollow and their bodies weighed down by an invisible burden.

.â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â—

As soon as they stepped inside, Mikey went straight to Takemichi and pulled him into a tight hug, his usually strong and carefree demeanor replaced by an almost desperate need for comfort.

Takemichi didn’t need to ask. The way Mikey clung to him, like a lifeline, said more than words ever could. He could feel the tension in Mikey’s body, the weight of whatever decision had been made hanging over them like a storm cloud.

Draken, too, stood nearby, his broad shoulders sagging in a way that made him look much older than he was.

It was the worst day of their lives, and Takemichi could tell.

The crushing realization that they would have to leave him—leave everything behind for a while—was tearing them apart.

The reason for their departure was simple but devastating: a massive gang problem had arisen, one that couldn’t be ignored, no matter how much they wished otherwise.

Normally, Mikey or Draken would just send one of their higher-ups to handle the situation.

They had people they trusted for this sort of thing, and usually, they didn’t have to get directly involved. But this time was different. The threat was too big, too dangerous, and Mikey had no choice but to agree to go himself. It was either that or risk losing everything they’d worked so hard to protect.

That’s why they returned to the cave looking so lifeless. It wasn’t just exhaustion; it was the dread of what lay ahead.

Baji and Seishu had been just as confused as Takemichi when the two walked in like ghosts.

But soon enough, the truth came out—though, in typical Mikey fashion, they left out the most worrisome details, hoping to spare Takemichi from the full weight of their burden. They didn’t want to alarm him more than necessary, but he knew. He could feel it in his bones.

Mikey and Draken didn’t explain the specifics of the gang problem, but Takemichi wasn’t naive. He understood that whatever was happening was big—bigger than any of them had faced before. And the fact that they couldn’t tell him everything only made his chest tighten with anxiety.

The thought of them leaving left a bitter taste in Takemichi’s mouth.

He hated the idea of being separated from them, especially with the looming danger. The cold season was hard enough, but now it felt like an eternity stretched ahead of him, with Mikey and Draken somewhere far away, facing unimaginable threats.

And yet, as he sat there, Takemichi knew he had to stay strong.

For their sake. Mikey’s hug tightened for a moment, as if sensing Takemichi’s turmoil, and Takemichi returned it, trying to give as much comfort as he could. They needed each other now more than ever.

The room was thick with unspoken words, and the silence seemed to echo with the uncertainty of the future.

All Takemichi could do was hold on—for as long as he could—until the inevitable moment came when they would have to let go.

Mikey had shown from the very beginning that he wasn’t the kind of person who could stand being away from the ones he cared about, especially not from Takemichi, whom he had come to see as more than just a friend.

To Mikey, Takemichi was his mate—his most important and beloved person—and the thought of leaving him behind for even a day was unbearable.

Mikey was known to be possessive and fiercely protective when it came to Takemichi, always hovering nearby, as if making sure nothing could harm him.

So the idea of being separated for an entire cold season?

It felt impossible, something Mikey couldn’t even bring himself to fully comprehend.

How could he leave Takemichi alone for that long, knowing that he wouldn’t be there to shield him from harm?

The thought gnawed at him, making his chest tighten with a mix of frustration and fear.

But deep down, Mikey knew that bringing Takemichi along wasn’t an option either.

As much as it hurt to admit, Takemichi’s physical condition wasn’t strong enough to withstand the brutal journey ahead. The cold season was unforgiving—harsh winds, freezing temperatures, and a landscape stripped of food or shelter.

Even someone as tough as Mikey would struggle to survive it, and the risk for Takemichi was far greater.

The image of Takemichi, frail and vulnerable against the cold, haunted Mikey’s mind.

What if, before they even reached their destination, Takemichi succumbed to the elements, like he gor sick, starve and die?

What if he never made it through the journey?

The thoughts was unbearable.

Mikey couldn’t shake the vision of Takemichi collapsing from exhaustion, his body unable to handle the freezing temperatures. It was terrifying—more terrifying than anything they’d faced in the gang world.

Losing Takemichi was not an option, but neither was taking him on such a perilous trip.

As much as Mikey wanted to keep Takemichi close, to bring him along like he always had, the reality of the situation hit him hard. There were no guarantees that Takemichi would survive the journey, and Mikey couldn’t risk that. Not now. Not ever.

It wasn’t an easy decision to make, and Mikey wrestled with it every minute since they’d learned they would have to leave.

Draken understood the weight of the situation too, and though he didn’t show it as openly as Mikey, the burden of leaving Takemichi behind weighed heavily on him as well.

The cold season was more than just bad weather—it was deadly. No food, no warmth, and the constant threat of freezing to death. Even the strongest among them could fall victim to the cold, and if Mikey wasn’t certain he could survive, how could he even consider putting Takemichi through it?

The possibility of Takemichi dying was a nightmare Mikey couldn’t bear to entertain.

And so, with great reluctance and a heart full of turmoil, Mikey made the tough decision.

It was for the best, he told himself.

He repeated the words in his head over and over, trying to convince himself that it was the right thing to do. But no matter how many times he said it, it didn’t ease the pain of knowing he would have to be apart from Takemichi for such a long, dangerous stretch of time.

Leaving him was the last thing Mikey wanted, but in the end, it was the only way to keep him safe.

Takemichi knew it was big. The problem was serious—serious enough that both Mikey and Draken had to leave.

He could see it in the way they carried themselves, the weight of responsibility pressing down on their usually lighthearted expressions. But that was all Takemichi knew. He had no idea what the specific issue was, only that it was dangerous and urgent.

During their almost one month together, Takemichi had learned a few things about Mikey and Draken. He knew they were part of a gang, and not just any gang—they were higher-ups, holding positions of power and influence. But despite being around them,

.â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â—

Takemichi still didn’t fully understand this world they lived in. He didn’t know what gang they were part of or how deep their involvement went. The details remained a mystery to him, leaving him feeling slightly out of place amidst the growing tension.

For a moment, they all thought that the looming gang issue was their only problem, but Baji’s sudden revelation shattered that fragile hope.

When Baji began explaining what had happened while Mikey and Draken were away, the room’s atmosphere shifted.

Whatever lightheartedness remained drained from their faces, leaving them pale and speechless. Takemichi could only watch as confusion and dread flickered across Mikey and Draken’s faces, their usual confidence shaken.

Now, three crucial things became clear in the wake of Baji’s explanation:

One, they would have to take Takemichi with them when they left. Despite Mikey’s initial reluctance, there was now no choice. The situation had escalated, and leaving Takemichi behind wasn’t an option anymore.

Two, while Mikey and Draken were away, someone else—no, two people—had shown up and met Takemichi. And these weren’t just any random strangers. They were clearly important, and someone they knew.

And finally, Three—the one that sent shockwaves through the group—according to Baji, these two individuals had taken an interest in Takemichi.

“Damnit!”
Mikey cursed under his breath, his fists clenched tightly at his sides.

As if dealing with their gang’s issues wasn’t enough, now there were two more people vying for Takemichi’s attention.

Mikey shot a quick glance at Seishu and Baji, who were already competing with him for Takemichi’s affection. And now, two more?

It felt like some cosmic joke, one that Mikey had no patience for. He could feel his frustration bubbling up, and all he wanted to do was scream and tear his hair out.

Takemichi, completely unaware of the storm brewing in Mikey’s mind, noticed his distress. He approached him gently, placing a comforting hand on Mikey’s arm.

“Are you okay? What’s wrong?”
Takemichi asked, concern in his voice.

Mikey took a deep breath, trying to calm down. He couldn’t let Takemichi see just how rattled he was.

“It’s nothing”
He muttered, though it was obvious to everyone else that something was very wrong.

The next morning came with even more tension. A meeting was held—one that Takemichi wasn’t part of.

He had gone to Lang Zhu’s cave, visiting their cub-adopted, blissfully unaware of the discussions taking place in his absence.

The others gathered, knowing that they had to deal with these new developments, but also knowing they had to protect Takemichi from the full weight of the situation for as long as possible.

Mikey, still stewing in frustration, tried to focus on the task at hand. But with each passing minute, the knowledge that two new threats—two more rivals—had emerged, gnawed at him. It was going to be a long cold season.

.â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â—

And yes, that’s what had happened. Now, let’s return to the present…

It was now the day Mikey and Draken had to leave.

Over the past two days, things had become even more complicated. Both Kokonoi and Taiju had taken to visiting Takemichi frequently, hovering around him like protective shadows.

Kokonoi was relentless in his efforts to impress Takemichi, showering him with expensive pearls and rare animal hides—gifts that were clearly meant to capture Takemichi’s attention.

Taiju, on the other hand, took a more hands-on approach, always stepping in to help with anything heavy that Takemichi needed to lift or carry. His strength was undeniable, and he made sure Takemichi knew he could rely on him for any physical task.

Meanwhile, Seishu hadn’t changed one bit. He continued to cling to Takemichi at every opportunity, spoiling him with attention and affection, as if to remind everyone that he had been there first.

Baji, too, had his own way of showing his care—sometimes playfully bickering with Takemichi, other times spoiling him with a variety of fruits and meats. He never missed an opportunity to tease, but his gestures of kindness were always apparent, even in the smallest ways.

But Mikey…

Mikey wasn’t handling it well. He was not having it.

He found himself competing not just with Baji and Seishu, but now with Kokonoi and Taiju as well.

Every time he tried to get close to Takemichi, it felt like someone else was there, vying for his attention. The frustration gnawed at Mikey, making him restless and irritable. He couldn’t stand the idea of anyone else getting closer to Takemichi, especially with the looming departure.

Time was slipping through his fingers, and it felt like he wasn’t even getting a chance to properly say goodbye.

Draken, on the other hand, remained composed, silently observing from the corner. He didn’t feel the need to compete like the others did. Draken was steady, his bond with Takemichi unwavering.

Still, he kept an eye on things, ready to step in if the rivalry between the others ever escalated. Thankfully, things hadn’t gotten out of hand—at least, not yet.

.â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â—

Amidst all the unspoken tension, a sudden voice pulled them out of their thoughts.

They all turned to see Takemichi, standing there with tears streaming down his face.

He was crying—really crying.

His shoulders trembled as the sobs wracked his body, and his face was flushed with emotion. It was clear that the reality of Mikey and Draken leaving had finally hit him.

Among all the people Takemichi had met in this strange, beastly world, Mikey and Draken were the ones he relied on the most.

They had been there for him since the beginning, guiding and protecting him. But more than that—they were his boyfriends, his partners.

The rest?

As much as they tried, as much as they competed for his affection, they were just his friends. The realization stung for some of them, but it was the truth. (—For now.)

(Lol, bros got friends zone)

“O-of course you two have to come back… and as soon a-as possible”
Takemichi sobbed, his words barely coherent between his hiccuping cries.

Tears continued to spill down his cheeks as he clung to Mikey and Draken, hugging them tightly as though his life depended on it.

His small frame was pressed between the two, and they wrapped their arms around him, trying their best to comfort him despite the heaviness in their own hearts.

The others watched in silence, their expressions clouded with a mix of jealousy and resignation.

It was hard for them to witness Takemichi crying like this, knowing that he wasn’t clinging to any of them in the same way.

Mikey and Draken were clearly at the center of his heart, and though the rest cared for him deeply, they knew they were still far behind in his eyes.

For now, all they could do was stand by, feeling the ache of being on the sidelines as Takemichi poured his heart out to the two he loved most. It hurt, but they had no right to interfere.

This moment belonged to Mikey and Draken—and they would have to respect that, no matter how painful it was to watch.

.â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â—

Everything was finally ready.

Mikey and Draken had packed the last of their supplies, their expressions heavy with the weight of their departure.

Outside, Draken waited alongside the rest of their group, the atmosphere thick with anticipation and unspoken words. The cold air bit at their skin, a reminder of the long, harsh season that was fast approaching.

It was time to leave, but the heaviness of the moment lingered like a shadow over all of them.

During their final meeting, the gang had made a crucial decision: they would leave two people behind to guard and protect Takemichi.

The responsibility of watching over him wasn’t something they took lightly—especially considering how much he meant to Mikey, Draken, and even the others who had grown close to him.

The first candidate was Baji.

It made perfect sense. Not only was Baji the First Division Captain of their gang, but he was also a tribal leader of the people here. His influence and authority were unquestionable, and everyone trusted Baji’s strength and instincts.

He was fiercely loyal, and Mikey knew that if anyone could protect Takemichi in his absence, it was Baji. His fierce and wild nature made him a formidable guardian, one who wouldn’t hesitate to fight off any threat that dared approach.

The second choice, though, had caused some debate. It was Seishu.

At first, there had been some resistance to the idea, particularly from Mikey and Kokonoi.

Mikey, of course, had his possessive tendencies, and the thought of leaving Takemichi with Seishu—someone who had been vying for Takemichi’s affection just as fiercely as the others—made him uneasy.

Kokonoi, too, wasn’t thrilled with the idea of his friend being the selected one and not him. He had his reasons, he had lots of reasons to be against this, though they were likely more strategic than personal.

Seishu, after all, had a deep connection with Takemichi, and that worried them both.

But in the end, everyone knew that Seishu was the best choice. He was devoted to Takemichi, perhaps even more so than the others. His nurturing side and his fierce loyalty made him the ideal candidate.

Seishu had a way of caring for Takemichi that was hard to ignore, and despite the initial protests, even Mikey and Kokonoi had to admit that Seishu’s presence would be invaluable in keeping Takemichi safe during the long, dangerous cold season.

The decision was made, and with that, everything was set into motion.

Draken had already gone ahead, standing outside with the rest of their crew, waiting for Mikey to join them.

Meanwhile, Inside the cave, Mikey still held Takemichi close, his embrace never loosening.

He had shifted from hugging Takemichi from the front to pressing him from behind, his arms wrapped around Takemichi’s waist.

Takemichi’s eyes were still red and wet from crying, and his cheeks, ears, and the nape of his neck were flushed a deep, embarrassed crimson.

Mikey’s gaze was fixed on the back of Takemichi’s neck, where the redness seemed almost to glow in the dim light.

The sight stirred something primal in Mikey.

He swallowed hard, the temptation to taste that vulnerable skin growing stronger. Slowly, he lowered his head, his breath hot against Takemichi’s sensitive skin.

Meanwhile, Takemichi was puzzled by Mikey’s unyielding embrace, his mind racing with uncertainty.

He was taken aback when Mikey’s breath grew warm against the back of his neck. The sensation was almost palpable, a heated whisper against his skin that made him shiver.

Takemichi could feel the weight of Mikey’s gaze even before he saw the subtle shift in Mikey’s posture. The proximity of Mikey’s breath, so close that it was almost a caress, sent a wave of unexpected tension through him.

Takemichi shivered, startled by the sudden warmth of Mikey’s breath on his neck. He tensed, feeling Mikey’s lips brush lightly against his skin, sending an involuntary tremor through him.

Mikey’s voice, hushed and deeply sensual, whispered in his ear.

“Takemichi… You’re so sweet and smell so good…”

Takemichi’s eyes fluttered shut in mortification, unable to face the intensity of Mikey’s gaze. He wanted to protest, to push Mikey away, but an undeniable longing kept him rooted in place.

Mikey’s touches became bolder, his tongue darting out to taste Takemichi’s skin.

The sensations were overwhelming, a mix of heat and gentle pressure that made Takemichi’s breath catch in his throat. The biting cold of the cave’s interior was a stark contrast to the warmth of their interaction, making it all the more intense.

As Mikey’s actions grew more fervent, Takemichi’s moans escaped him uncontrollably, despite his efforts to stifle them.

What began as a gentle touch soon turned more intense. Takemichi felt Mikey’s lips pressing against his skin, followed by a sharp bite that pierced the sensitive, smooth area at the nape of his neck.

In that moment, Takemichi was overwhelmed with a mixture of emotions—both pleasure and sadness intertwining, leaving him feeling both elated and heartbroken.

Each soft cry was a mix of pleasure and vulnerability, his body betraying him even as he tried to remain composed.

The quiet moans and soft whimpers filled the cave, blending with the echoing sounds of the wind outside.

Unbeknownst to Takemichi, the sounds of their intimate moment were clear to the beastmen outside.

Their keen hearing picked up every subtle sound, each moan and plea unmistakable. The intensity of the scene within the cave was mirrored in their own frustration and helplessness, as they were unable to intervene.

The mixture of anger and sadness was palpable, their emotions swirling as they listened to the muffled cries of their friend.

Mikey, consumed by his desires and the need to savor every moment, continued his exploration, his touches growing more insistent. Takemichi’s mixed emotions of happiness and sorrow intermingled, a complex tapestry of feelings that left him both elated and heartbroken.

As the moment stretched on, Mikey’s actions reached their peak, leaving Takemichi in a state of raw, emotional vulnerability. The cave, once a refuge, now bore witness to their intense connection.

As the sounds of Takemichi’s quiet moans gradually faded, Mikey finally pulled away. His expression was a mix of satisfaction and lingering desire.

He had to leave, but part of him was reluctant to let go.

As Mikey pulled away, he was met with Takemichi’s disoriented gaze. The intensity of their earlier encounter lingered, making the separation even harder. Takemichi was left breathless, his body still warm from Mikey’s touch, his cheeks flushed with a deep red that mirrored the rest of his flushed skin.

༻﹡﹡Draken’s POV﹡﹡༺

Mikey gently lifted Takemitchy into his arms, cradling him with a protective yet possessive hold. He carried him out of the cave, where the rest of us— the group waited in tense silence.

The cold air hit them as they stepped outside, the temperature a stark contrast to the warmth of the cave’s interior.

Baji stepped forward, his gaze shifting between Takemitchy and Mikey. There was a mix of anger and concern in his eyes.

Mikey carefully handed Takemitchy over to Baji, who took him with a look of solemn responsibility.

“Mikey”
Baji said quietly,

“I’ll make sure he’s well taken care of. You better come back in one piece.”

Mikey nodded, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips despite the sadness in his eyes.

“I know you will. Thank you, Baji.”

I, who had been standing off to the side, approached next. My usual calm demeanor was tinged with an unusual intensity.

“Take care of yourself, Takemichi”
I said, placing a reassuring hand on Takemitchy’s shoulder.

“We’ll be back before you know it.”

Kokonoi and Taiju followed, each offering their own words of farewell. Kokonoi’s voice was calm but firm.

“We’re leaving now. Stay safe, Michi. Don’t do anything reckless while we’re gone.”

Taiju, though quieter, gave Takemichi a supportive nod.

“We’ll be back before you know it. You can count on that.”

As each of them took their leave, the finality of the moment weighed heavily. Takemitchy stood in the cold, clutching the warmth of Baji’s embrace as he watched us prepare to leave.

I can clearly see the emotional toll of all of us departure was palpable, and not just that but also Takemitchy’s.

Based of his expression, anyone can tell that Takemitchy’s heart ached with a mix of sadness and anticipation for our return.

Mikey turned to look at Takemitchy one last time.

The resolve in his eyes was clear, though his heart was heavy.

“We’ll be thinking of you every day”
He said, his voice steady despite the lump in his throat.

“Remember what we’ve shared, and stay strong. We’ll come back to you, I promise you that….. with my life”

With a final glance and a heavy sigh, Mikey joined Me, Kokonoi, and Taiju as we began our journey toward our destination.

The cold wind picked up, swirling around us as we walked away, leaving Takemitchy behind in the cave with Baji and Seishu.

We moved with purpose, our figures slowly fading into the distance. The cold season stretched out before us, a daunting challenge, but we were resolute in our mission.

༻﹡﹡No One’s POV﹡﹡༺

As the last of their footsteps echoed away, Takemichi watched them go, feeling the weight of their absence settle over him.

Baji and Seishu stood by his side, offering what comfort they could. The cave was quiet now, filled only with the sounds of Takemichi’s soft breathing and the distant murmurs of the wind.

The days ahead promised to be long and lonely, but Takemichi clung to the hope of their reunion.

The cold season would last nearly two months, a daunting stretch of time, but he knew that their bond would endure despite the distance.

The cave, now a refuge, would be both a sanctuary and a reminder of the loved ones he awaited.

As the group’s figures disappeared into the distance, Takemichi felt a mix of sadness and anticipation.

The journey ahead for Mikey and his companions was fraught with challenges, but Takemichi’s heart was anchored by the promise of their eventual return.

Author’s Note:

There are only four chapters left!

Yes, we’re almost there!

Hmmm~ A steamy scene is needed to spice things up a bit… 😉

However, it’s also important to note that four members of Takemichi’s harem will be leaving. It’s a necessary twist for the story’s plot 😔

Anyway, you’ve come this far. Villa and I (Han) want you to take a break and not overdo it—we don’t want you to end up like Villa!

Vil:………

On a different note, did you enjoy this chapter?
(Comments here)

Let me clarify: the steamy scenes in this chapter weren’t originally planned—they just slipped our minds. Plus, there was always a scene like this in the original novel, so while it wasn’t intentional, it ended up being both unexpected and fitting.

Vil: Don’t lie—

If you liked this, you’ll probably enjoy what’s coming up in the next chapter! 😆

See you in the next chapter!
