**My Roommate Seems to be Bullying Me, Chapter 2**
—
When they play basketball or video games, I can only sit on the sidelines and watch.
Before college, my free time was either spent reading or helping my mom with chores. I never had the chance to play basketball, let alone video games.
Qi Shang tossed the ball in front of me, raising an eyebrow with a smirk. “Come on.”
Unable to ignore his fiery invitation, my hands moved on their own, catching the ball. I stood up and walked toward him.
“I’m not very good at this…”
“That’s okay. You’ll get the hang of it.”
He said that, but after the ball left my hands, I never touched it again.
I was like that clumsy dog in the village, following the action but not really knowing why.
I was busy, but I didn’t know what I was busy with.
Following everyone to the basket, Qi Shang jumped up in front of me. His loose tank top flew up, revealing his chest and back in full view.
For some reason, I froze, forgetting to step back in time.
When Qi Shang landed, it felt like the world slowed down to half speed.
He stepped on my foot, his face first showing surprise, then slowly twisting in pain.
Qi Shang fell in front of me.
Waking up from my daze, I quickly crouched down.
He clutched his foot, gritting his teeth, glaring at me.
“Xia Qi, you can’t play ball, but you sure know how to foul.”
I didn’t quite understand what fouling meant, but it did seem like he fell because of me.
“Sorry,” I apologized quickly, trying to help him up. “Can you stand?”
People around us started chattering. “Looks like he twisted his ankle. Better get it checked out.”
Hearing that, I panicked. Without a word, I bent down and hoisted Qi Shang over my shoulder.
He immediately grabbed onto my waistband.
“Xia Qi, put me down right now.”
I tried to calm him down as I headed to the medical room without stopping. “Don’t worry, I can carry 200 pounds. I won’t drop you.”
Qi Shang yanked on my waistband, pulling it lower. He shouted, “Put me down, or I’ll pull your pants off.”
I tried to interpret what he really meant and finally decided to obey. I set him down.
If he didn’t want to be carried, he could have just said so. No need to yell. Now everyone’s laughing at me.
I followed the limping Qi Shang into the medical room, discreetly Googling what “fouling” meant along the way. Seeing results like ligament tears and fractures, I started sweating.
“Qi Shang—”
My voice cracked with a hint of sobbing.
If he needs medical treatment, I can’t afford to pay!
Qi Shang had a stern expression but seeing my face, it softened awkwardly.
“Hey, it’s no big deal. Don’t worry about me, I’m not mad at you.”
I tried to calm down.
“Oh, that’s good.”

Although Qi Shang hadn’t hurt his bones or tendons, he had some soft tissue damage and needed to rest for a while.
I became his errand boy and personal crutch.
He clung to me, his face so close to mine. Then, he reached out and pinched my cheek.
“Were you really that worried about me the other day?”
I called over to the lunch counter. “One order of sizzling tofu and one order of shredded pork with garlic sauce, to go, please!”
Then I turned slightly toward him. “Huh? What did you say? Runny egg? I don’t think they sell that here.”
Qi Shang stared at me for a while, then lazily said to the counter, “I’ll have the same as him.”
I heard it, but I didn’t dare respond.
Ugh, what if he asks me for emotional compensation or a fee for not being able to play basketball for a while?
I can’t afford that.
With a sigh, I thought maybe I could take him out for a nice dinner once he fully recovers.
Two hundred bucks… probably won’t be enough.
Since Qi Shang couldn’t move around much, I also took over collecting his packages.
One or two packages were fine, but it quickly turned into picking up deliveries for the entire dorm.
My other two roommates shamelessly sent me their package codes. With another sigh, I headed upstairs, carrying a stack of packages taller than me.
I leaned against the wall to catch my breath and was about to knock when I heard Qi Shang’s voice from inside.
“Xia Qi, he’s… an idiot.”
Furious, I kicked the door open.
The door slammed against the wall with a bang, and the three people inside looked at me simultaneously.
Qi Shang’s face was expressionless, but the other two laughed awkwardly, quickly standing to take the packages from my hands.
“Sorry, sorry, I didn’t know it would be this big.”
“Xia Qi, if you have this many packages, just send me a message. I could’ve picked them up myself.”
He kept glancing at Qi Shang as he spoke.
I wasn’t paying attention.
There was only one word on my mind—
Idiot.
Hmph, if I’m an idiot, then what are you guys, who scored the same as me for our major? Brain-dead?
I wanted to grab Qi Shang and give him a piece of my mind, but remembering that he got hurt because of me and never blamed me, and that he even complimented me for being handsome…
I held back.
I ran to the rooftop and called my mom.
At this time of day, she was probably at Aunt Fang’s, gossiping.
“Xia Qi, I’m your mother, not your servant. Can’t you make friends?”
I did have a few close friends in high school, but after we entered college, things changed, and we lost common ground.
Their social media was filled with bar outings and wild nightlife.
I hadn’t built up much rapport with my college classmates yet, except for Qi Shang…
Aunt Fang’s loud voice rang out in the background.
“Xia Qi, your cousin Fang Ji recently got transferred near you. You two should hang out when you can. And tell him to hurry up and find a partner.”
Fang Ji is my older cousin, and I used to love following him around when we were kids. He’s one of the most successful people from our village.
After he started working, he got busy, and we lost touch. Last year, he returned to rebuild his family home, but Aunt Fang still felt ashamed that he was getting older without finding a partner.
He didn’t even stay through the New Year before heading back to work.
Not long after, he got back to me and even called.
Hearing his familiar voice, my eyes welled up again.
He was still the same gentle person I remembered, always giving off a sense of security.
“Let’s have dinner together sometime when you’re free in the afternoon.”
