” At His command to far Aurora, Eurus took his way,

to Nabath, Persia, and that mountain range first gilded by the dawn.”

-Ovid

Eurus lifted his head and opened his mouth slightly, inhaling deeply. “Nyx’s mist has never been so fresh and sweet,” he breathed out.

I nodded, turning to him ever so slightly to see his eyes were alight like the stars. With a deep breath of my own, my gaze swept at their surroundings once more. Eurus slunk back some.

“Well, lil Note, you are definitely safe with these two-“

“Shut up,” Notos snapped. I looked back to see his face red.

Notos continued. “I can take care of myself just fine without a mortal’s assistance.”

Eurus rolled his eyes before picking up his pace to match mine.

“Thank you,” he muttered, looking forward. I watched him a moment before nodding and letting it go. Myrah’s stage whisper of a voice rang through the forest as she spoke enthusiastically to Notos. With a final glance at Eurus, I counted my blessings that he seemed to not want to talk.

Myrah rushed forward. I sidestepped so she wouldn’t run into me. Instead, she tripped into Eurus, who almost fell down. Myrah caught herself and grabbed Eurus’s arm, only to nearly fall over with laughter. Eurus stared at her in bewildered horror.

“Rah. Rah!” In response, she nearly ran into me, wheezing as she tried to stop laughing.

Notos slunk behind Eurus. Eurus was still staring at Myrah who was still rasping. I followed Notos instead of waiting for Eurus to break out of his stupor. Myrah and Eurus caught up an irritating amount of time later, though they still walked a pace behind Notos and I, talking to each other in hushed tones.

Myrah fell asleep, head on my shoulder, the moment we got back. Eurus seemed restless, which I could relate to, but Notos also fell asleep quickly. Eurus stared at me, pausing his pacing. He blinked.

“Olivervarius…?”

He whispered it to himself. Why he was talking about olive trees was irrelevant. Eurus turned around dismissively.

I shrugged it off and closed my eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath and embracing all the many differences in the sounds and air.

“…My siblings are in the dungeon, resting beneath the crown of Ilion.” Eurus spoke with realization. Ilion, another name for Troy. I didn’t ask how Eurus now knew the location of his siblings. He didn’t seem to know.
