Kim Minjeong
active now
“I’m starting to think that you guys like scrubbing the bathroom tiles a little too much to be causing too much trouble” Yizhuo sighs, causing the group to laugh. They’re currently all in Ryujin’s garage, it’s a weekend, Heejin is playing video games with Yeji while Ryujin and Aeri switched instruments for a while.
Minjeong is spacing out, itching to ask Yizhuo a question but she’s too nervous after the latter point out about their troublesome schemes.
“gigs are too boring, that’s why” Heejin taunts, earning a high-five from Ryujin who was next to her.
“you try sitting all day, messaging every place and agency, let’s see how good you’ll be able to manage that” Yizhuo retorts and the group laughs at her snarky tone, obviously they appreciate their manager.
Because of her work, Yeji is able to earn enough from a gig to pay Yizhuo her demanded income.
“your gigs are enough, once you gain attraction and popularity then small radio shows will be calling you in. Just sit down and play dumb”
“can I ask for a favor?” Minjeong finally spoke up, all the attention diverting to her as she smiles.

“hello” Minjeong spoke in an exaggerated low voice, eliciting a slight chuckle from Jimin who was nibbling on her lower lip to conceal the other giddy feelings she’s harboring from hearing Minjeong’s voice.
It’s like she was a thirsty woman stuck in the desert who finally had a taste of water after a few days, that’s how she feels about hearing the younger girl’s voice.
“it’s a little awkward, isn’t it?”
“yea” Jimin released a breathy reply, adjusting her seating position before she heard Minjeong clearing her throat. Seeing as she’s taking a little more time, Jimin took the initiative to ask about it.
“so, why did you call?” it came out a little softer than she intended. She’s just a little desperate, a little overjoyed to have this day arriving like this, but of course, it doesn’t drive away the feeling of anxiety brewing within her.
She’s uncertain of how this will turn out, but she’s taking all her chances with this one. Because it’s Kim Minjeong.
“honestly, I was so ready to pack it up and just send a long message” Minjeong laughs, Jimin mirrors the action because she expected that too. But, obviously, something changed the puppy’s mind.
“but I wanted to hear your voice” a blush creeps up on Jimin’s cheeks, her smile dropping as she hid her suppressed smile with her sleeve, embarrassed at how easy it was for Minjeong to catch her again like that. As if she didn’t spend the month of avoiding her to build her walls for this exact moment.
“I missed you, you know…” Jimin didn’t know how to respond, her inner self was rolling around, screaming and squealing like the high school girl that she is. But she can’t really do that when Minjeong’s on the other line listening to her.
Jimin wanted to say it back, but she couldn’t speak. Minjeong already got her with a ‘hey’ and that’s embarrassing enough already.
She heard a few shuffling sounds and a small thud, causing Jimin to feel confused as to what she’s doing.
“w-what are you doing?” she asked, hearing a faint ‘hold on’ before a knock on a hollow wood was heard, and Jimin was wondering what the younger girl is doing with a guitar.
“this guitar strap… It’s killing me” Minjeong jests, a few strained groans were heard before a sigh resonated. Jimin didn’t know what she’s hearing honestly, what’s Minjeong doing?
“huh…?”
“didn’t I tell you before that I’ll sing for you when you fall in love with me?” Jimin shot up from her position, shock coursing though her veins. Is Minjeong serious?
“a-are you k-kidding me?”
“hm? No? I mean, your mom is fine with it” Jimin stood up from her bed, now completely surprised by the sudden turn of events.
“my mom!?”
“would you mind if you open the front door for me?”
“front door?!”
“or I can call your mom to let me in”
“let you in!?”
“you’re cute”
“I’m cute!?”
“just look out of your window so you won’t waste your pretty little time coming down” Jimin rushed to her window, opening it and seeing Minjeong at her front yard, waving a hand at her while balancing her guitar with a hand and the strap.
“can you hear me without me shouting?” Jimin lifted a thumbs up.
“I cut the song short ’cause I don’t think I can handle my neck cramping up” Jimin covers a giggle from Minjeong’s bluntness.
I think you’re swell
I think you’re swell
Minjeong starts singing with a slightly Korean accent on her English, but to think that this is the song she wrote back at her ‘bro’ days which was around late middle school or early high school says a lot about what she does with her time.
You’re the nugget in my ChickenMac
The peanut to my butter
Adding fiber to our diets
Beneficial for each other
Jimin fumbles with her phone, pressing record while concealing her phone from the oblivious puppy below who’s singing something silly. She remembered how Minjeong told her about how she used to write love songs but instead of it being romantic, it’s, instead, trying more to be funny.
You’re a piece of dental floss and I am the teeth
You’re Aretha Franklin, I’m R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Jimin lost it at that, she cackles while Minjeong just smiles up at her. Fingers were skillfully plucking the strings producing great harmonies as Minjeong continues singing about her silly old days of being in love.
I love you like a Cops marathon on TV
I love you more than the original Star Wars trilogy
You’re a guitar, I’m the strings
Like a jet ski in the water
You’re New York, I’m the buildings
You’re my mother, I’m your father
There was a pause in the lyrics with Minjeong hiding her embarrassment by focusing on the strings so that the melody would continue while she was pausing, hearing Jimin laugh at her verse sent a wave of relief over to Minjeong.
Yeji is right about how Jimin would still love her for her silliness, no matter how dumb or ridiculous it is.
And every day when you’re walking down the street
It’s like every other day because you’re constantly walking down the street
And every day I’m only thinking about you
And a bunch of other important things, but primarily you
And that’s true
‘Cause I think you’re swell
I think you’re swell
Minjeong was craning her neck a little, causing Jimin to a laugh a little more, as if the lyrics weren’t enough to send her cackling. Minjeong felt assured and relieved, because despite all the chaos or how ridiculous she sounds right now, Jimin still loves her for that.
I’ll be the Jagger to your Richards
The Captain Kirk to your Picard
If you’re a molten lava room
I’ll be the one inept guard
We go together like pastrami on rye
Like watching Titanic and trying not to cry
We go together like a parade to confetti
And later if you’re hungry I’ll make you some spaghetti
And I think you’re swell
Jimin screamed and flinched when she heard a clap behind her, looking to her side to see her mother clapping once Minjeong finished the song. It only told Jimin that her senses have been fixated on Minjeong that she lost awareness of her surroundings.
“good job Mindoong!” Jimin’s mom encouraged, earning a chuckle from the puppy below.
“Mindoong?”
“yea, it’s a cute little nickname because she looks like a puppy” embarrassment washed over her as her mom continues to shower Minjeong with compliments, to think that her mom already loves Minjeong is a relief and an embarrassment.
“I think you should come down and fetch her. I’ll leave you two alone” her mom winks and she swore that the blush on her cheeks are more evident now as she made her way down the stairs to get Minjeong.
Once she opened the door, she stepped out and closed it, not wanting anything to slip to her mother.
“hey, I wasn’t finished talking to your mom” Minjeong joked and Jimin folded her arms over her chest before cocking an eyebrow at her.
“you’ll have to get to me first, then my dad, then you can get to my mom” Minjeong burst out laughing at her response, causing a smile to slip out.
She’s mentally berating herself for being so whipped, she can’t endure Minjeong at all.
“don’t worry, I’m here for you, not your mom” the blush returns.
“hey” Minjeong called, causing her to look back into those dark orbs that lulled her in.
“I know feelings are complicated. But I’m sure that I’m not just feeling friendly with you, if I was, I wouldn’t miss you that much, nor would I take that long to sing that song for you. And I know it’s not as sweet or romantic, but it’s the most genuine part of me that I can show you-” Jimin giggled, cutting her off her extensive rambling.
“I get it”
“I just… I don’t want you to go away like that again. You have no idea how much I missed beating your ass at tekken, or giving you strawberry milk, or even walking you home-“
“I get it, chill” Jimin giggles again because Minjeong looks like a tomato, she’s like a cute little girl confessing to her crush.
“b-but I’m not done yet”
“then finish it before my mom eavesdrops on us again”
“Jimin.”
“Minjeong.”
“I don’t know how to say this appropriately and accurately. I don’t think I’m feeling friendly with you, but- fuck… what was it again…” Minjeong mutters the last sentence, causing Jimin to chuckle. It’s the usual Minjeong.
“but I just want you to know… That however long it takes… I’m ready to love you”
Minjeong walked back home with a dopey smile, and a kiss on the cheek.

tbh when I was thinking about what minjeong should sing, I immediately thought of that song because it’s funny and minjeong just radiates that energy 😂
