Jordyn’s POV
December 30
“Stop!” I wake up to yelling and I look at Selene and she’s stirring in her sleep. “Get off!” Shit.
I touch her to wake her. “Baby. I’m here, wake up.” Her eyes widen and she slaps me and then I hear her gasp.
“Shit Jordyn! I’m sorry baby.” I hold my hand up when she tries to touch me. I keep getting slapped. “Baby I’m sorry. I-I didn’t realize it was you.”
I get off the bed and go to the bathroom when I taste blood in my mouth. I look in the mirror and she cut my lip open. “Shit!” I whisper yell.
I hear her get out of the bed and walk towards the bathroom. “Fuck baby. I’m sorry.” She grabs my face and examines. She sits me on the toilet and gets the med kit that Zarina keeps in the house. I hiss when she swabs at it. “I’m sorry baby.” She apologizes with tears in her eyes.
Her hands shake as she goes to continue to clean it and I grab her hand. “Baby.” She starts to sob. I sigh and grab her and pull her into my arms. “It’s ok baby. It was an accident, right?” She nods still crying and I kiss the top of her head. “Then I’m ok. But baby,” she looks up at me. “You need to go see someone. It’s been happening ever since we’ve been back and I’m worried baby.” She nods and I kiss her lips for reassurance.
“I will, baby. I promise. I’m so sorry.” I shake my head and pick her up and we go back to the room and go to sleep. Her head on my chest and my arms around her. I look up at the ceiling and just watch the fan spin as the sun rises. I continue to stare after she wakes back up and goes to the restroom. I sigh rubbing my hands through my hair. These nightmares have been happening since we got back. And it always ends with her hitting me. Usually it’s just my arm which I have the scratches to prove but I wasn’t fast enough last night and now I look like I got my ass kicked. She kept saying she was fine and I didn’t want to argue with her so I left it alone but they’re only getting worse and she jumps more around me. I’m getting punished for what he did and I don’t know if I can deal with it. “Hey.” She says nervously walking back in.
“Hi.” I say sounding harsher than I intended. She sighs and comes back on the bed and straddles me.
I look up at her and her face screams I’m not fine. “Jordyn I’m so sorry. Please forgive me I’m going to talk to someone.” She says and starts kissing all over me. I hum when she starts sucking on my neck but I shake out of it. She lifts up and looks at me with worry. “Baby?”
I sigh and move her to beside me. “I’m gonna go to the gym.” I say and get up from the bed to put my clothes on. I can see her from the corner of my eye staring at me. I finish getting dressed and go to her. “I’ll let you know when I’m on the way back, alright?” She nods and then I kiss her lips.
“I-I love you Jordyn.”
I freeze at the door and sigh. “I love you so much Selene.” She gives a sad smile and I leave. I get to the gym and immediately go straight to the boxing area. I wrap my hands and put my gloves on and start punching the bag.
1 hour Later
Thud, thud. The sound of the chain holding up the bag rattles and my sweat flies off me every swing. “You’ve been at this for a while Jordyn.” I hear Jade but ignore her. She walks to the other side of the bag and holds it steady. “Is there a reason why you’re taking your anger out on this poor bag?” She tries to joke and I roll my eyes. “Is it Selene?”
I groan and leave the bag and go to the weights. “I came here to be alone.”
She scoffs. “It’s a public gym, asshole. You didn’t want that much privacy.” I roll my eyes as I curl the dumbbell. “What’s up? And what happened to your face and arms? You get in the fight with a cat?”
I sit the weights down and sigh. “You’re not going to leave me alone, are you?”
She shakes her head. “I’m your friend Jordyn. Just let me know what’s going on.”
I sigh and we go to sit on the boxing ring. “Selenes been having nightmares and I guess whatever is happening in them spooks her so much to when I wake her she doesn’t even recognize me until I’m left with a mark.”
Her brows furrow. “Selene did that?” I nod. “Shit! Has she always had them?”
I shake my head. “Uh no it happened after Christmas. Something happened with her ex and she kept saying she was fine. But-but I knew she wasn’t fine.” Tears start to fall and she pulls me in her arms. She rubs my back. “She isn’t fine Jade! She’s scared and-and I wasn’t there! I ignored her!” I sob in her chest.
“Hey it’s not your fault, Jordyn. You got her out of there when it counted. I know she’s grateful for you. She just needs someone to talk to.” I nod still crying.
I stop crying after a few minutes. “Thanks.” She nods. “I’m gonna head out. My body hurts.” She laughs.
“Good idea. I’m just waiting on Jason.” I nod kiss her cheek and then head out. I check my phone when I get in the car and see that Selene said she made an appointment for the fourth. I sigh and then head to her apartment.
I make it there and that feeling again is there so I look around since it’s brighter out but I still don’t see anyone but cars parked and driving by. I get up to her apartment and use the spare key she gave me to open it. “Hey baby.” She says coming from the kitchen. She hugs me taking a deep breath and then pulls back and looks at me.
“Hey baby.” I kiss her and she smiles. “I’m gonna take a shower.” I say and she scans my face and then nods. I kiss her forehead and then I go to the bathroom to shower. I let the water wash over me and I think about Selene and hope she’s truly ok or atleast going to be. I get out of the shower and put on a tank top and basketball shorts. I walk out to the kitchen and she’s cleaning up. I come up behind her to wrap my arms around her and she moves away. I sigh. “Baby it’s me.”
She looks at me. “I know who you are, Jordyn.” I look at her confused.
“Ok? So why are you moving away from me?” I ask hurt.
She scoffs. “How was the gym?” She asks.
“Good I guess.” I shrug. She nods. “Are you going to answer my question now Selene?”
She shrugs. “I don’t know, is there a reason why you smell like perfume when you are supposed to be coming from the gym?” She asks and I frown. Growing irritated at her insinuation I scoff and leave the kitchen. I hear her following behind me but I’m going to pack my bag. “So instead of being honest with me, you’re going to leave?!”
“Selene, stop!” She jumps and I feel bad. “I’m not cheating on you! Ok, I’m not him!” Tears start to pool her eyes and I fight myself.
“So tell me why you smell like another woman after not touching me, Jordyn!”
“It was Jade, Jason’s girl. She was consoling me because I feel like shit for not being there for you that night Selene! I blame myself and I know you told me not to but I can’t help the feeling that I’m at fault!” Her face drops. “I-I’m not cheating on you. I would never do that.” I finish packing my bag and walk towards the door.
She grabs me and I stop. “So why are you leaving? You don’t have to go baby.”
I nod. “I do, you don’t trust me. Still, after everything we’ve talked about and been through together you will continue to see me as someone who is going to hurt you Selene. I mean look at me! You wake up in fear even when you’re with me. You flinch from me but not Zarina!” She starts crying. “Yeah I’ve noticed. And it hurts. Look,” she looks at me. I cup her face in my hands. “We’re not done. I just want you to get help and I need to get more clothes anyway. It’s just a day baby. Ok?” She nods. I kiss her and she deepens it and I let her knowing I’m going to miss her even if it’s a few hours apart.
