Jordyn’s POV
My eyes open and I feel like my body is on fire. I look around and I’m in a bright ass room. The sun is peaking through the blinds but the light is on. I groan trying to shield my eyes but my side hurts. “Ms. Marino ,please relax.” A brunette woman in pink scrubs says to me and I frown at her. “Do you remember the events that has brought you here today?” She asks.
“I don’t even know where here is.”
She sighs. “You’re in the hospital. You were beaten up pretty badly and shot. We had to do surgery so you will be in pain for a while. Do you remember this happening to you Ms. Marino?” She asks again.
I nod. “Where’s Selene?” I ask.
“Ms. Kaci, is outside with the rest of your family, Ms. Marino.”
“Bring her in.” I demand.
“We can’t yet.”
“And why not?” I ask irritated.
She sighs. “She’s talking to the police. They asked for a statement. Apparently she shot a man.” My brows furrow.
“What?”
“They’ll be in here shortly for your statement now that you’re awake.” She says and leaves the room without saying anything else. What?
Hours Later
I’ve been staring out the window for hours watching the clouds go across the sky and the sun set. No one has come in here except that nurse to check my vitals and the cops for my statement. The door opens and I don’t even bother to look. “You look like shit.” I hear Zarinas voice and relief washes to see a familiar face.
“I forgot you’re a doctor. Why haven’t you been in here?” I ask.
She sighs. “Police have been asking questions nonstop and technically I’m not on duty. It’s against protocol.” I nod. “I performed on you Jordyn.” My eyes widen. “You died twice on me and each time I had tell her.” Tears fall down her face.
I grab her hand. “Thank you.” She nods. “You aren’t even in uniform.” I say pointing out her bloody clothes.
She chuckles. “Uh yeah that’s mainly why I’ve been questioned nonstop. I definitely broke a lot of rules getting you into surgery.” She shrugs. “I don’t care I wasn’t gonna let anyone else do it.”
I smile grateful. “Can I see her please?” I ask and she smiles and nods.
“She’s been through a lot these past 24 hours Jordyn.” I nod and she leaves out of the room. 3 minutes later it opens up again and my eyes soften at the sight of the most beautiful woman in the world.
Her eyes are wide and bloodshot as she scans over me as if trying to make sure I’m real. “It’s me baby.” She jumps a little at my voice and I lift my arm just enough for me to hold it out so she can grab it. She walks slowly to me and then grabs my hand and she releases air and then the tears.
“Jordyn?” She whispers and I nod. “Oh my god. You’re alive!” She sobs and takes my lips passionately I groan in pain. “Shit I’m sorry baby.” I shake my head and grab her face and bring her lips back to mine. “Hmm.” She hums as tears continue to fall.
I wipe them away. “Hey beautiful.”
She smiles sadly. “Hey handsome.” She cups my face.
“I doubt I look very handsome right now.” I chuckle and then groan.
She laughs. “The swelling definitely went down. I can see those beautiful eyes of yours again. I missed you Jordyn.”
“I missed you too baby. Why am I hearing you shot a guy?” I ask with a curious look on my face.
She rolls her eyes and sighs. “It was Michael. I just couldn’t risk him ever coming back and hurting you again. Don’t worry, my dad pulled some strings and I’m off the hook. Perks of having an ex cop as your dad.” She says and we laugh.
“You came for me.”
“Of course I did baby. You can’t always be the one to do the saving.” She says and I smirk and bring her lips back to mine again. Oh how I’ve missed her.
“H-he didn’t touch you again, did he?” I ask hesitantly. She shakes her head and I release my breath.
The door opens and Jason walks in. “Holy shit!” He runs to my other side and hugs me. I groan. “Shit my bad. Fuck dude! You scared me!” He says and I can see his red eyes with bags underneath them.
“Bro were you crying?” I joke and he sucks his teeth.
“You’re an asshole man. I had your blood all over me. I thought you were dead.” He breathes out.
“Well apparently I did, twice.” I say and Selene hits my leg. I turn to her and she gives me a stern look. “Sorry too soon.”
“Yeah way too soon. Don’t ever die on me again! You’re my bestfriend. I-I don’t know what I’d do without you man.” He says sobbing again and I pull him by his shirt and we hug softer but still heartedly.
“I’m sorry man. Thank you.” He nods and then pulls back and I wipe my tears from falling. The door opens again and more people start coming in and I see Morgan. I look at Selene and she nods and I look back at Morgan.
“Oh my god.” She breaths out and tears fall.
“Can we please stop crying?” I joke and everyone laughs still tears in their eyes and mine.
She grabs my hand and looks over me. “You look like shit.” She says and I chuckle.
“Well thanks I was thinking I came out unscathed.” I say sarcastically.
“I’m kidding. But I’m sorry for everything Jordyn. I can’t imagine how fucked up my life would be if I would’ve lost you and we weren’t on good terms. Please forgive me.” She says and I smile at her.
“There’s nothing to forgive. You’re my bestfriend and I’ll be there for you. Always. Just like you were here for me.”
“Always.” She says and I nod and she squeezes my hand and then looks to Selene. “Thank you. Thank you for making her happy and bringing her back.” Selene nods and then Morgan let’ go.
I look to the parents. “Thank you.” They nod and smile. I look back at my beautiful girlfriend. “So, when can I get the fuck out of here?” Everyone laughs. “That long huh?”
