A/N: Please note that this chapter has nothing to do with the original storyline. This Halloween Special is written in a parallel universe for your reader’s enjoyment, so I hope you like it!

———————-

There was once a little boy named Axel who lived with his family of 3. He and his brother Jack were the closest of siblings, not having a single secret between them. Jack was a little troublemaker, who liked to play pranks on the villagers and the occasional visitors who would come to the village. Their mother, Mace, would always scold his son, but to no avail, as Jack would just cause trouble again the next day.

Luckily, Axel was an absolute angel who would try to stop his brother whenever he knew of the pranks Jack was planning. Although he never succeeded in stopping his brother, their mother appreciated Axel for at least trying. Axel helped out with the chores around the house and went out to run errands for their mother, which really helped out their single mother.

Mace was grateful that at least one of her children was studious, as Axel has the best grades in their whole school. Granted, the school in the small village didn’t have many students -maybe 100 students in total- but she was still very proud of what Axel has accomplished. But although Jack was mischievous and was constantly scolded by Mace, she will always love Jack just the same.

Jack was aware of how distressed he would make his mother sometimes, but he luckily had an amazing brother who would make up for his faults.

Poor Axel would sometimes have to suffer the consequences for Jack, since they were twins and people who didn’t live in the village and weren’t familiar with them wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.

A/N: I know that Jack and Axel have fairly different features in the original storyline, but for the sake of this story let’s just pretend they’re identical twins (:

It’s all fun and games though since his pranks were usually harmless, so the visitors that were pranked by Jack weren’t too harsh with Axel. Axel would never push his brother under the bus, so he would just endure the scolding.  Thankfully, it would never go farther than scolding.

But sometimes, Jack picks the wrong people to mess with.

“Jack!” Axel yells, stomping over to his brother who was hanging out with their friend, Pete. Pete was their childhood friend and next-door neighbor, so they’ve all been together since they were babies.

“Hey, bro! What’s up?” Jack says with a smile, trying not to laugh at his pouty brother who was trying to look angry.

“You really have got to stop pranking the people who aren’t the villagers!” Axel yells, and Jack laughs.

“How many times have I heard this now?” he asks, turning to look at Pete.

Pete chuckles, but immediately stops when he sees the expression on Axel’s face. He stands up, placing his hands on Axel’s shoulders.

He was trembling.

“Axe? What’s wrong? Why are you shaking?” Pete asks worriedly, Jack’s smile immediately vanishing.

Axel looks at the ground, “There was an old woman who came up to me earlier. She was a victim of one of Jack’s pranks”

Axel glances at Jack through the corner of his eye, seeing his brother’s face contorted in confusion.

“Doesn’t ring a bell…. I don’t usually prank the elderly” Jack mumbles.

“She came up to me, thinking you were me” Axel says, thinking his brother just pranked too many people and doesn’t remember.

“Finally got tired of taking scoldings for Jack?” Pete asks with slight humour in his voice, but he immediately realizes how serious the situation is when Axel doesn’t say anything.

“Axe, what’s wrong? You’re scaring us” Jack says, cautiously placing a hand on Axel’s bicep.

“The woman, she was furious. Unlike the other people who would scold me, her words seemed creepier. Then, she said that she placed a curse on me. With the moonlight of the next full moon, the curse will activate” Axel says shakingly, feeling goosebumps on his skin as he’s reminded of the old woman’s words.

“A curse?? You mean you played a prank on a witch?!” Pete exclaims, turning to look at Jack in disbelief.

In this world, there doesn’t only exist humans but 3 other species that live along side them. Unless they reveal their supernatural traits themselves, it’s practically impossible to tell them apart from humans.

The witches, one of the superior species, can cast spells and curses as they please. They’re one of the most feared species as they are known to hold grudges and exact their revenge on those who have gone against them, no matter the severity.

Next, there are vampires. They’re also quite feared as they can easily overpower and kill a human by drinking their blood. Though, since the times have evolved, vampires have gotten a lot more docile. There are rarely any news about someone getting killed by vampires, only the occasional few.

Finally, there are the werewolves. The least feared of all the species. It’s shocking, really, that a 15 foot tall beast would be the least feared out of all species. But since society evolved, it has become normal for humans to hunt down werewolves. Werewolves have the most weaknesses out of the supernatural species, and humans were able to take advantage of their weaknesses to create weapons and impenetrable armor. Werewolves’ fur holds lots of worth and can be sold for billions of gold, making them irresistible to the most greedy species on earth. Werewolves are rare now, as they have been hunted for decades so they’re nearing extinction. There may only be 100 or less left in the whole world.

“Shit…” Jack says, finally realizing the gravity of the situation.

“Wait, the next full moon? That’s tonight!” Pete says worriedly.

Axel nods, as they all fall silent.

You may all be wondering why Axel still protects Jack, even after everything Jack’s put him through. Well it’s simple.

They’re brothers, they’d do anything for each other.

It’s not just Axel who protects Jack, Jack protects Axel just as much. Although, Jack himself also wonders why Axel continuously protects him, even to the point of getting cursed for him. Obviously, he’d do the same for his brother, but that’s because Axel has done so much for him.

What has he ever done to deserve Axel’s loyalty? He gets a headache just thinking about it.

The three make a plan to keep Axel indoors and close all the windows. Since the witch specified that the curse will only activate with the light from the full moon, they’ll be protecting Axel to make sure no light will be able to touch him.

As the sun starts to set, they quickly usher Axel into his room, nailing layers of wood on each window to make sure no light will be able to get in. They turn on the lamps on Axel’s beside table so that it isn’t pitch black.

Luckily, Mace is out for the night so they can do this without her questioning.

They make sure that Axel’s door is locked, as the two sit outside Axel’s room. Although they have no idea what will happen to Axel if the moonlight hits him, they’ll still make sure nothing will happen to him.

The two sit outside for hours, almost nodding off a few times. They check the time every few minutes, hoping daybreak will come just a bit sooner. Axel’s sitting on his bed, hugging his knees to his chest. He couldn’t sleep, being too nervous to even feel tired.

Jack yawns, checking his watch again for the umpteenth time.

He smiles excitedly, standing up. “There’s only 30 minutes until the sun rises! We’ve won!” he exclaims excitedly, startling an almost asleep Pete. The sleepiness immediately disappears as he hears that they’ve managed to protect Axel, standing up and celebrating their victory with Jack.

Jack knocks on Axel’s door, “Axe! It’s almost sunrise, we’ve won!”

Jack’s voice through the door immediately reassures Axel, as he comes out of his position and heads to the door.

He’s about to respond when a wicked laugh echoes through the house, causing the three boys to freeze.

“You really thought it’d be this easy? I’m glad I waited to be able to crush your little moment of hope” says the sinsiter high-pitched voice, followed by another wicked laugh.

All of a sudden, Jack and Pete hear a scream coming from Axel’s room. It was no doubt Axel’s voice.

“Axel!” Jack says, running into the door as hard as he can. It’s still locked, and all he can do is try to break down the door as he hears his brother’s torturous screams.

Pete is paralyzed in fear, the high-pitched voice reminding him of someone he wished to never see again.

“Pete, help me!” Jack’s desperate call snaps Pete out of his paralyzed state, as he immediately gets up. He runs into the door with as much force as he can, and at the same time Jack slams into the door. The door finally falls down due to the force of two grown men.

They both freeze as they look at the scene before them.

Axel’s sprawled on the ground, practically having a seizure. Jack was almost unable to recognize his own twin.

Axel has white fur sprouting out from every inch of his body, his nose and mouth stretching out and morphing into a snout. His hands and feet change into paws as he starts to grow immensely, ripping his clothes to shreds. Two pointy wolf ears emerge from Axel’s head, his screams slowly dying down as the pain from his transformation fades away.

Jack looks at the 7 foot tall white wolf laying unconscious in the middle of Axel’s room, not knowing what to do.

The high-pitched laughter brings Jack out of his trance, Jack snapping his head at the floating figure behind Axel. The witch broke Axel’s wall, letting the moonlight in which caused Axel’s curse to activate.

The witch also has taken a more youthful appearance, looking fairly familiar.

A little too familiar…

“Pat?” Pete’s small voice calls, his voice shaking.

“Hello dear brother, surprised?” she laughs maniacally.

“Wh-” Pete starts, but his voice gets stuck in his throat.

“You did this? YOU cursed my brother?!” Jack yells angrily, feeling his temperature rise.

She giggles, “But of course”

She glances over at her brother’s confused face, and smirks. “Well dear brother, judging from your facial expression, you’d like to know why I did this. It’s simple”

Her face hardens into a glare, “I simply hate you, dear brother”

Pete’s face pales, Jack’s face turning red from anger. “You cursed my brother just because of some petty sibling hatred? Pete didn’t even do anything to you! Plus, now that I think about it, I’ve never played a prank on an old woman!”

Pat smiles, “Oops, guess the cat’s out of the bag. That’s right, I just framed you. I’ve heard of your reputation, Jack, so I thought I might as well use it to my advantage in order to get Axel to stay where he was long enough for me to place the curse. You shouldn’t have rejected me, Jacky”

“You turned my brother into one of the most endangered species in the world, over a rejection?!” Jack exclaims, not believing what he was hearing. Is this bitch sane?

She cackles evilly, “I thought for so long, how could I be able to the both of you suffer? But the answer was obvious! I killed two birds with one stone, aren’t I a genius?” she says, pointing at Axel in his wolf form while laughing.

Her laughter slowly dies down, a sinister smile still on her face. “Well, it’s about time for my departure. Enjoy this little gift I left you all!” she says as she disappears behind a cloud of smoke.

Axel stirs, his eyes slowly opening and glancing around the room. He sees Pete and Jack standing silently at the doorway, so he gets up to go to them. As he gets up, he accidentally hits his head on the ceiling.

He brings his paw up to rub his head, but freezes when he sees his white fur. He observes the paw, and realizes the situation.

So it wasn’t a dream, this is the curse… huh

He lowers his head, slowly trotting over to where the two boys stood. Jack and Pete look up at him, tears rolling down their cheeks.

Axel whines, nudging his head in between the two, not wanting his friends to be sad. Jack and Pete hug his neck.

“I’m so sorry”

They both mutter, their words muffled by Axel’s fur. Axel whines again, and the two release him. Axel walks out of the house through the hole Pat made in the wall, and stretches as his neck hurt from the low ceiling.

A high-pitched scream is heard behind Axel, so he immediately whips his head around.

The whole village was awake now, and everyone was bustling about.

Or well, they were supposed to be.

Everyone stood frozen, eyes bulging out of their sockets at the sight of a werewolf in their village.

Jack and Pete run out of the house at the sound of the scream and stand beside Axel. They look in the direction Axel was looking, and they freeze. Everyone was staring at Axel, although they didn’t know it was Axel.

“A werewolf, I’d never thought I’d see one in my lifetime! Hunters, go get your weapons!” a man shouts, and dozens of men immediately run into their houses to go get their weapons.

Jack turns to his brother, “Axel, you have to go! Now!”

“Jack! Pete! What are you guys doing over there?!” a familiar voice calls, and the 2 boys and wolf turn their heads in the direction of the voice.

There stood Mace, her hands covering her mouth as pure fear was written across her features.

“Come here, hurry! Who knows what that monster will do?! Get over here! Where’s Axel? Is he not with you guys? Is he okay?” Mace rambles as she stares at the wolf, not knowing that the monster she was talking about was the son she’s looking for.

“Mom! He’s not-“

Jack starts, but gets cut off by a nudge on his back. He turns around and sees Axel gesturing with his snout for them to go.

Jack shakes his head, “No, we can’t let them think you’re the enemy! You’re my brother, you’re not a beast!”

Axel shakes his head, and Jack immediately understands. There were moments where the twins don’t need to exchange words but they already know what the other wants.

“I can’t.. I can’t Axe…” Jack says but Axel lets out a puff of air through his nose.

They’ve never questioned each other, and would always do what they could help the other. But this is something Jack can’t do. How could he let the whole village think his brother was a monster?

Axel lets out a puff of air again, as if saying ‘Promise me you won’t tell them’

“He’s still here! Everyone into your positions!” one of the hunters call, as they get ready to shoot.

“Axe, run! They’re going to kill you!” Pete and Jack urge, trying to push a 500 kg wolf.

Axel doesn’t move, still staring at Jack.

Jack looks back at the villagers, seeing the hunters almost complete their setup.

He looks back at his brother, finally managing to nod. “Fine, I promise”

“Alright, get ready to fire!” the hunter yells, and Axel gives one last look at his home.

He looks at Mace who was watching him in fear, yelling at Pete and Jack to hurry and get away from him.

He looks down at his brother and best friend, his eyes twinkling from the tears.

He turns around, and starts running.

Running away from the place he’s used to call home.

But now, will he ever have a place to call home again?

It pains the two boys to see their friend and brother run into the forest, not knowing whether they’ll see him again. But who are they to complain?

They did this.

They were the reason Axel has to live his life on the run.

They are the reason why Axel needs to suffer.

But what could they possibly do to save him?

Axel starts to slow down, panting heavily as he ran far enough. He didn’t run too far, but enough so that the hunters won’t be able to find him. He’s still not used to his new body, so he’s in severe pain from running when he could barely even walk.

He looks around, having no clue where he could be. He’s never travelled into the forest, let alone this deep. He hears rustling behind him, and he immediately turns around in alarm.

Three men emerge from the bush, looking around and stopping when they spot him.

Oh no, humans. Are they hunters? Wait..

Axel sniffs the air, his sense of smell having gotten 100 times stronger since he shifted.

No, werewolves. What are they doing here? Aren’t werewolves really rare around the world? Why are there werewolves here, let alone 3?

“I told you! My omega sensor is never wrong!” says the tall, black-haired one.

“You just have a stronger sense of smell than us” the blonde one says as he rolls his eyes.

“This one doesn’t smell like an omega though…. he smells… different?” the ginger one said, and the two start sniffing the air as they move closer to Axel.

Axel takes a step back with every step they take, until he bumps into a tree.

“He smells…. way better than an omegathe ginger says, his eyes turning from a light brown to gold.

“He does… then an omega in heat?” the blonde one asks, but they both shake their head.

“I’ve never smelled an omega in heat as sweet as this one” the black-haired on says.

The blonde one turns and looks at Axel, who was trembling in fear. “What are you?”

“Who cares what he is, he smells amazing” the ginger one says, as he takes off his shirt.

“Dude, you’re not thinking of mating with him are you?” the blonde one asks, baffled.

“Yeah, we’re supposed to send any omega we find to him” the black-haired one adds.

Him? Who’s him? Is he another werewolf like them?

“Oh come on, having a little taste won’t hurt. I’m sure you two are curious as well, as long as he doesn’t find out, we’ll be fine” the ginger one says, looking Axel over. He shifts into his wolf form.

“I guess…” the black-haired one says as he transforms, followed by the blonde one.

The three horny werewolves slowly close in on Axel. Axel looks around for an escape route, but with the tree trapping him from behind him, and three werewolves that are way bigger than him closing in on him, he’s stuck.

Axel closes his eyes, preparing himself for the worst when a loud growl sounds through the air.

He hears whimpering, so he slowly opens his eyes and sees a huge black wolf standing in front of him, staring down the wolves in front of him. The three wolves back down, slowly lowering their heads to the big wolf.

They seem to be having a conversation, as after a while the three wolves pick up their clothes in their mouth and run back in the direction they came. The big black wolf turns around and takes a step back to give Axel space. He looks at Axel with his ruby red eyes, which surprisingly calms Axel down instead of intimidating him.

The wolf’s eyes widen, as he lets out a low growl.

The wolf closes his eyes, the wolf shifting with loud sounds of bones cracking before emerging as a human male.

A naked human male.

Axel immediately covers his eyes with his paws, which earns him a chuckle from the naked human male.

“Give me a second, I put my clothes behind the tree before I jumped in” the naked man says, and Axel hears the footsteps slowly getting quieter.

He slowly peeks out from one paw, and sees that the naked man is gone so he lowers his paws. He sits and waits patiently for the man to return, and after a few minutes he does. He holds out a change of clothes for Axel, but Axel just looks at it curiously.

“Go on, you can go change back behind the tree” the man tells him, but Axel just tilts his head in confusion.

“Do you not know how to shift? Is this your first one?” the man asks, lowering his arm and Axel thinks before nodding. I mean, I’m technically not lying right?

The man scratches his head, before letting out a sigh.

“Alright, so basically you just have to imagine it. Imagine your skeletal figure changing from that of a wolf’s to that of a human’s. That’s the best way I can explain it, really. Go on, try it” the man urges, and Axel closes his eyes. He pictures his bones shifting and reconnecting into that of a human’s skeletal figure. He hears bones cracking and assumes that it’s working. He looks down, and sees that he’s no longer 7 foot tall and covered in white fur.

Suddenly, his vision goes black as the man tosses the clothes at him.

“I meant to try it behind the tree!” the man says, Axel pulling the clothes off of his head and seeing the man turned around with his back facing Axel.

Axel quickly runs behind the tree and puts on the clothes. They’re a bit big on him, but he rather have baggy clothes than white fur.

He slowly walks back around the tree and sees the man standing with his arms crossed.

“So..” the man starts awkwardly, and Axel smiles. He seems nice.

“Thanks for saving me” Axel says, and the man smiles.

“I’m sorry about them, I’ll make sure they get punished when I get back to the pact. I told them to go scout for any rogues, not attack omegas” the man says, rubbing his face in frustration.

“By the way, my name’s Jayden. What’s yours? I can’t just call you ‘my mate'” Jayden asks with a chuckle.

“My name’s Axel, and what do you mean by mate?” Axel asks, confused by the term. Is he Australian?

“How old are you?” Jayden asks, a small frown on his face.

“I’m 21” Axel replies.

Jayden furrows his brows, “Having your first shift in your early 20s, -which is extremely late- not smelling like an Alpha, Beta or an Omega and not knowing what a mate is… what kind of pact do you come from?”

“Um… I’m from Villager Village….?” Axel says confused.

“You mean the Village a little ways from here?” Jayden asks, his eyes wide.

“Yes?” Axel responds, not understanding what’s going on. Jayden stays silent for a while, looking over Axel with a pensive face.

“Why don’t you come back to my pact with me? I have a few questions for you” Jayden asks, and Axel nods. It’s not like I have anywhere to go anyways.

A/N: Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I’m back from my writer’s block and managed to write this all in one sitting! It feels good to be able to write again, I guess I’m still just really attached to these characters haha.

I just realized, even in a parallel universe I made Axel suffer. This was supposed to be a cute and fluffy story, but once I started writing the ideas just kept flowing and I kept writing until I realized how much I strayed off my original idea. I swear it’s not intentional, it just happens and now I feel so bad for Axel. I mean… at least he has Jay in both universes right? Right guys? Please forgive me for making Axel suffer, I swear I don’t hate him T^T

And yes, I’m back with the bad names (:

Please vote for this chapter and have a nice week!

Happy Halloween everyone! Stay healthy!

Chapter 34
