“It has worked,” Muzan informed them. “He can go in the sun! I have blue spider lilies for all of you! We have finally achieved what we had never had before.” He grinned. “We can go in the sun.”
Every Uppermoon’s eyes widened and they stared in silence for so long that Muzan got impatient and nearly shouted at them. Then, Kokushibo said, “Only I’ve been able to go out so he has to give it to all of you now.”Â
They all stood, then, and Muzan nodded at Kokushibo in a thanks. Then he escorted all of the Uppermoons to his office to eat the blue spider lilies.
Once they were gone, Nakime spoke. “You really can go into the sun now?” she said, her voice pitched in admiration.
Kokushibo turned to the demoness and nodded. “Yes. It was almost terrifying because I’d been so accostomed to staying away from the sun and I… Well, you could understand how it felt, no?”Â
Nakime gave him a respectful nod then went back to being silent.Â
The Uppermoon paused. “I’m going to see if there would be enough spider lilies to perhaps give you one,” he said, slowly. “Master would still need you to bring the Uppermoons together when he needs them to be all here and you can’t operate as well if only you are not able to go into the sun.”
Nakime shook her head. “If he doesn’t wish me to go in the sun, I do not need to waste his precious supplies.”
Kokushibo gave her a light smile then left off to Muzan to ask.Â
All the Uppermoons had eaten the flower given to them and Kokushibo found Muzan in the back of the room, tucking the last few flowers in a bag.Â
“Master?” Kokushibo asked slowly.
“Hm?” Muzan hummed, turning.Â
Kokushibo hesitated. “Can… you use one of the blue spider lilies for the biwa demon to eat? I feel as though she would still be useful as a demon?” he said. (not a ship!!)
Muzan nodded. “I was thinking of that. Anyways, there’s three more flowers. I’ll give her one and we can keep the last two for in case the going in the sun wears off.”Â
“Will you eat them then?” Kokushibo asked curiously.
Muzan lifted a shoulder. “You and I can each have one.”
“And what would become of the rest of them?”
The demon king then glanced at the Uppermoons and gave Kokushibo a knowing look. “You’re… most important as Upper 1,” he said carefully.Â
Kokushibo felt touched, knowing the words meant a lot more than they seemed, and smiled at him. “Thank you.”
Muzan nodded then turned to the rest of the Uppermoons. He clapped his hands as if commanding a classroom of chaotic children, then said, “All of you must sleep and we will see of the results tomorrow.”Â
There was a strum of a biwa and then only Muzan and Kokushibo were left in the room, the others brought to seperate ones to sleep.
The multi-eyed demon turned to his master and said, “Don’t you also need to sleep?”
Muzan looked at him. “I’d prefer to stay awake for now.”
“But you need rest, Master!”Â
“I’ll be fine.”Â
~~~
Of course, he said that and also ended up falling asleep at his desk only 10 minutes later. Kokushibo chuckled and gently lifted Muzan, taking him to the room that the Uppermoon had slept in only the day before.Â
He sat by him and closed his six eyes, his mind going through everything that had happened. He didn’t know for how long he’d sat there before he heard Muzan waking up. Kokushibo opened his eyes and smiled at the Demon King who rubbed the sleep out of his eyes wearily.
“Why the fuck am I here?” Muzan grumbled.Â
Kokushibo laughed. “You fell asleep.”
“I did not!”
Kokushibo raised an eyebrow and Muzan crossed his arms but said nothing more.
The two made their way back to Nakime who was sitting there quietly. Muzan ordered her to bring the rest of the Uppermoons in, all whom seemed like they’d just woken up as well.Â
Then, Muzan proclaimed they went outside in the sun.
Naturally, this brought a murmur of nervousness to the demons, but they followed him anyways.Â
Kokushibo demonstrated first, stepping out in the sunlight and making all of the Uppermoons’ eyes widen in shock. Of course, they’d known. But knowing was different than knowing. Truly, seeing it with their own eyes. It made them all so hopeful and all of them were eager to try it as well.
One by one, the demons filtered into the light, taking their time to admire the warmth of the sun on their skin. And then it was just Muzan left. He, as you might expect, was… both ready and not. He really wanted to go in the sun, but spending ten centuries avoiding it was making him apprehensive.Â
But his Uppermoons encouraged him and when his eyes met two of Kokushibo’s, and the Uppermoon gave him a sweet smile… Muzan felt confident. Anxious, but a lot less under the gaze of his demons, a certain one that made him feel all light and fluttery inside.Â
He stepped out into the sun and basked in the warmth and the light for a long time, staring down at his hands that didn’t disintigrate. He looked up and, again, he met Kokushibo’s gaze. Muzan smiled widely.Â
“We did it,” he whispered. “We’re in the sun.”
(be glad I’m adding more, i was going to stop here but the stupid word count said 980)
Muzan had nearly all of his demons killed, deciding he had no care for them. The only ones he left alive were his Uppermoons, Nakime, of course Tamayo who he’d been unable to reach, and Nezuko. Nezuko because, in case the Blue Spider Lilies failed him, he could simply take the girl and her blood.
Of course, they didn’t stop eating humans, but it was a considerable amount less because of the decreased demon population.
During the day, the Uppermoons continued disguising themselves, mostly from habit. They would sometimes forget they could go in the sun and try avoiding it, before remembering. But it was all okay. The demon slayers were extremely confused—not that Muzan cared—and they did try attacking the Uppermoon several times, but they mostly avoided them than attacked back, deciding they couldn’t bother.
Oh, and one last change.Â
Muzan usually hated change, unless it was something that impacted him in a positive way. Such as the blue spider lilies. And this change, luckily for him, as a poitive one.Â
Muzan Kibutsuji, the immortal, one thousand year-old demon king, had acquired a boyfriend.Â
