Modern AU, KokuZan are teachers
I got a bit too silly with the name (I before wrote ‘between professors’ but that sounded boring and then I had X’s and o’s (song) stuck in my head sooooo)

Muzan looked up as the door opened, sighing, ready to help yet another annoying student with their homework. What he found surprised him, though, because his gaze landed on the face of a certain Professor, one whom he longed to be in the arms of.
Kokushibo (the name he reserves for only Muzan to call him. Sort of affectionate, maybe? Others call him Michikatsu or Tsugikuni) closed the door behind him and walked up to Muzan silently. He sat down on the edge of the desk.Â
“You look tired,” he said, blowing a strand of hair away from his face.
Muzan huffed. “I am.”
Kokushibo gave him a sympathetic smile. “Need help with anything?”Â
He shook his head. “I’ll manage. I’m almost done grading these papers anyways. The students are really stupid nowadays. Spending most of their time on screen,” he grumbled. “Half of the class are so close to failing!!”Â
Kokushibo laughed. “Maybe don’t be so harsh on them and they’ll remember?”Â
Muzan crossed his arms. “Whatever.”
~~~
Half an hour later and the two made their way out the school campus. Kokushibo suggested they go into town and walk around a bit to release some of Muzan’s stress. Of course, he agreed. Anytime with Kokushibo would be a dream, anyways.Â
As they walked, Muzan had a strange feeling of being followed. But when he looked behind him, he found there wasn’t anyone. Eventually, he brushed it off as a sort of paranoia with all his stress so he ignored it and took his hand in Kokushibo’s.
~~~
Kaigaku hid behind a person, grabbing Daki’s hand as he did. (not a ship!! unless you want it to be ig ;-;)Â They peeked out a minute later and barely contained their laughter as they spotted their teachers a bit away, holding hands.
Daki took a picture then pocketed her phone and dragged Kaigaku behind a cart where someone was selling food. They watched carefully as Muzan said something to Kokushibo and the taller one leaned down to kiss him. Kaigaku quickly snapped a photo and then ducked down before he was seen.
As soon as their professor’s were completely out of hearing range, the two burst into laughter. Interesting.
~~~
Muzan swore someone had taken a picture as soon as Kokushibo had kissed him, but he found that there was simply a man selling udon there, talking to someone out of sight. The teacher, irritated with his mind playing tricks on him, pulled Kokushibo along through the crowds.
They continued walking through the town, finding themself watching some people make food. Kokushibo pointed something out to Muzan and the two continued talking mindlessly, enjoying this time together.
Kaigaku slipped into the crowd and watched his professor’s closely. He and Daki had been watching them for some time and they had finally confirmed their suspicious of the two’s relationship.Â
For a long time, they’d noticed small things nobody else had seen. Such as the small smiles and light touches here and there the two has shared often.
The first time the two had consciously noticed this, they’d been working on their homework in class and it was silent as everyone worked.Â
Then, Kokushibo had entered the room. Most of the students ignored this because it was normal for another teacher to come in randomly. Kaigaku and Daki had looked up, though, simply out of curiousity.
Kokushibo had bent down and said something to Muzan quietly and slipped him a note. Muzan had nodded and smiled at him, the two’s hands touching momentarily. Then Kokushibo had left.
That had been what brought Kaigaku and Daki’s suspicions. And then the fact that Muzan seemed to have a name for Kokushibo that was solely reserved for him.
So the two students had decided to stalk them.
Right, a wonderful plan. Hint, the sarcasm…Â
But of course, curiousity is a strange thing and makes you do things you shouldn’t. Which was what they were doing.
And they finally had proof that the two were dating, and now Kaigaku and Daki were almost giddy with this discovery. It was like, they knew it already but, like, they found out now. Sort of like your theory was confirmed.Â
They continued following them though.
It was risky, of course, but what was life without it’s risks?
~~~
As the night droned on, eventually Kokushibo and Muzan grew drowsy and decided to head home.
Daki and Kaigaku, however, thought they were just continuing on.
The two teachers walked silently to Muzan’s house, hand in hand, until they reached the door. Muzan unlocked it and ushered Kokushibo inside.
He stepped in as well, but then turned abruptly and stared at a tree in the distance.
“Come out. I know you’re there,” he hissed.
Daki and Kaigaku glanced at each other then slowly slipped out from their hiding spot.
Muzan glared at them. “What are you two doing here, and this late at night?”
Neither student wanted to answer.Â
“Were you to following me and Kokushibo?”
Daki nodded slowly. Kaigaku shot her a look but it was too late.
Muzan sighed heavily, running his hand down his face. “Look, if I don’t tell anyone what you two have been doing, then you must not tell anyone of me and Kokushibo. I know that you know by now. And, listen, one word about tonight and both of your’s little detour will be known to your parents and the school.Â
They nodded guiltly and averted their eyes.
Muzan grumbled. “It’s too late and dark for the both of you to go back home. Come inside. You can sleep in the living room.”
