Road To You – Mewgulf Au (Complete) Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Gulf

I went back to the doctor’s lounge and launched at the sofa.  This is a tiring day and I can’t wait to go home and rest. I looked at my watch and saw that it’s almost 6am.

Oh shit. I have to get ready or else that giant will get mad again.

So I hurried down to the wash room to shower and tried to get out of the hospital as fast as I could.

If you tell my 15 year old self that I’ll be a Trauma Surgeon at 34 years old, I would’ve laughed at your face.
I have always wanted to be a producer or a movie director but I guess life is unpredictable that way.

I’m Gulf by the way, the youngest son of the Kanawut family. Family known for their business of Oil, Transportation and Telecommunications. I am a Trauma Surgeon for 2 years and I find this job fulfilling. My dream when I was young is to be a movie director and for some reason, I decided to be a doctor instead. You might be wondering why… well, this is why.

´P´Mew!´ I shouted as soon as I arrived at the local restaurant where we always eat our breakfast.

I looked around and as expected, this place is closed since he is here.

´What a surprise you arrived just in time for breakfast. I thought I have to wait for you here until lunch time´ P´Mew said while smiling at me.

God, I am so whipped. I thought to myself.

He is my bestfriend, Mew Suppasit. He is the heir to the Suppasit Dynasty. They own several businesses but they are most known for their hotels and casinos.  They are respected not only in the business world but in the underground world as well. Because apparently, his family is Mafia.

I am not afraid though. We´ve known each other since we were in high school and because of us, our families became close. I know how dangerous transactions and fights can be and there are times that they get hurt. Mew has done a lot of things for me and being a doctor who can help him is the exact reason why I became a Trauma Surgeon.

And aside from that, I’ve been in love with him since I was 17 year old. People say that the way I express myself makes it so obvious but this idiot right here seem to not notice it after all these years.

“Well, Gulf. I need your help.” P’Mew surprisingly said.

“Well, that’s a first. You never ask for help. You know that I’ll always say Yes” I smiled.

“Well… I’m already 35. I think I should get married and start a family. I’m thinking of proposing to Eye.” Mew said.

Well, fuck. That was a surprise I didn’t expect to receive after a 48 hour duty. Now, my heart hurts like hell.

“Really Phi? That’s great!” I tried so hard to smile. I want to go home and cry myself to sleep. Damn.

“Yeah? I think so too. I mean, we’ve been together for 4 years and I think she’s the one for me.”

Not as well as I know you, I bet.

“She knows almost everything about me. Well, except for the mafia part. But I know she loves me. I know that she’ll accept me fully.”

But I accept you too. I love you including all your flaws, Phi. I thought.

“That’s why I need your help.” P’Mew said.

“Alright. I’ll help you. But, are you sure she is the one? Maybe there’s someone out there who will accept you. The whole you including the mafia part.”  I’m talking about myself btw.

“I’m sure. 100% sure. So, will you help me?” P’Mew asked.

“Alright. I’ll do it.”

“Thank you so much, Gulf. You are the best!” He smiled.

Now, that hurts.

Phi doesn’t smile a lot. He only smiles when we talk and I say jokes, but most of the time he wears this poker, expressionless and most of the time scary face.

The fact that it’s not just me who makes him smile hurts me more that I thought it would.

So much for confessing. I’ll guess I’ll keep this feeling to my grave then.

—

We continued eating our breakfast when his phone rang.

“Hello, Dad.” He picked up the phone while staring at me.

I had to look away. I can feel myself blush and I am mentally punching myself.

Why are you so whipped, Gulf? For fuck’s sake the man is planning to propose to somebody else already.

“Okay. I’ll tell Gulf. Bye.” He hang up.

“Gulf, Dad invited us to dinner. He said he needs to talk to us and your parents will be there as well.”

“Alright, Phi. Let’s hurry up. I’m getting sleepy. Did you know that I’ve been working for the last 48 hours? Being a Doctor is not easy.” I pouted.

“But you chose that path so deal with.” He smirked.

“Whatever, Phi.”

I did this for you.

—

“Where were you? You are late!”
My mother, Nuch Kanawut, said while glaring at me.

“Don’t be that harsh to your son. He is a doctor. I’m sure he is busy. Welcome, Dr. Gulf. Come here. Give me a hug”
Jong Suppasit, Mew’s mom, said.

“I’m sorry. I was a bit tired and I didn’t hear my alarm”

“It’s fine, Son”. Aunt Jong said while hugging me. I love her. She gives out the warmest hugs.

“Where’s Phi Mew?” I asked.

“He’s with your Dad. Let’s eat. Come on.” My mom said while holding my hand, leading me to the Dining room.

“Hello, Dad. Hello, Uncle.” I greeted my Dad, Alex Kanawut and Uncle Mark Suppasit.

“Hello, Son. Now that you’re here. Let’s eat dinner” my Dad said.

I sat beside Mew and smiled at him.
He leaned at me and I instantly blushed.

“I’m planning to tell them about the proposal today. Back me up, okay?”

“Okay, Phi.”

Well, so much for blushing.

—-

This is not right.

That’s what’s in my head while I’m eating dinner with our family.
While I watch how our parents and Mew laugh, I can’t help but feel mad because this is so unfair.

Why am I the only one hurting here?

I know I need to move on. I have to.
I can’t smile and pretend that I’m happy now that the person I loved for 17 years is planning to get married to somebody else.

So I’ve decided. Before he tells our parents about his plans. I’ll confess first.

I don’t expect to be loved back. I don’t expect him to ditch Eye and run to my arms (even if I wish that would happen). I just need to get past through this.

I think telling him before he proposes will help me move on.

Let’s get this 17 year old love done and dusted.

We are peacefully eating dinner when P’Mew cleared his throat.

Well this is it.

I need to stop him. I have to talk to him first.

“Uhm, Kids. We need to talk about why we asked you to go here today.” Uncle Mark said.

“Thanks to you, our families have become friends and share a strong bond through all these years” My Dad said.

“So to make sure that the bond stays as strong as it can’t be and to fulfill the promised that your grandfathers made, we decided– OUR family decided to have you guys married.” Uncle Mark stated.

“Wait. Hold up. WHAT? Is this for real? I just started being an attending doctor, Dad. I am busy. I can’t go around attending blind dates. I need to be a good Doctor. I want to be the Best Trauma Surgeon there is! P’Mew say something!” I pleaded him.

But he is just staring at the ground with his fists clenched.

“I’m not talking about you going on blind dates. What I’m saying is that the 2 of you are getting married TO EACH OTHER. This is not for discussion. The decision is final” Dad said.

WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK?
