Gulf

I sat on one of the tables in the Doctor’s Lounge.
I checked my phone if there are any pending things I need to check on and since there´s none, I put my phone back in my pocket and started to eat my food.

I don’t have the appetite to eat but I don’t have a choice since it has been 17 hours (I think) since I last ate and I´ll faint here if I don´t eat soon.

It has been a month. A month of pure hell.

A month since I´m back to being a Kanawut.

¨You look like hell. Can you eat properly and stop distancing yourself from everyone? Divorces happen. I´m not saying it’s okay but you have us. Talk to us and don’t keep the sadness to yourself.¨ Mild said as he goes to my table with Bright in tow.

¨Feel better soon, Gulfie.¨ Bright said as he looked at me, worry evident in his eyes.

¨I have an Idea! It’s our rest day tomorrow. Let’s go out! It doesn’t have to be a bar!  Eat a restaurant or something.¨ Mild suggested.

¨Let’s go! I´m in! Go with us Gulfie, please?¨ Bright pleaded.

¨Fine, whatever.¨ I said as I stood up and went to the restroom.

I took out my phone and texted Boat.

Gulf: How´s Phi?
Boat: He looks like he’s about to die and he’s still mad. VERY MAD. Damn. I feel sorry for the both of you. I wish this would end but you need to wait for a bit longer.
Gulf: I know. There’s nothing that we can do about it. It’s for the family anyway. Does he know about Dad?
Boat: Not yet since you told us not to tell him.
Gulf: Thank you, Boat. Really. Take care of Phi, okay?
Boat: I will.

I put my phone back in my pocket and went back to the Lounge.

You can do this, Gulf. This is for the family.

Mew

I´m on my way back to my office in the company building after a long meeting. It’s getting harder and harder to convince the board members to leave the CEO position of the company alone. 

I was about to enter my office when Saint stood up.

¨Miss Eye Siwaphon is waiting for you inside, Sir.¨ Saint said.

And just when I thought I could rest already.

¨What do you want?¨ I asked Eye as I entered the office.

¨Is that how you greet your fiance?¨ Eye asked.

As if I have a choice.

¨I am busy so tell me what the hell do you want?¨ I asked, glaring at her.

¨Let’s eat dinner together tomorrow. I already booked a table at a restaurant. Just be there by 7pm. You know what’ll happen if you don’t come right?¨ Eye said.

Damn it.

¨Fine. Now leave.¨ 

She waved at me and left the office.

I stared at the ceiling as I felt tears fall down my face.

It has been a month.
I miss Gulf.

Just 2 more weeks,Mew.  2 more weeks You can do this.

Flashback 
1 month ago

¨Gulf, I understand that this is the best way to end the Chivarees but I don’t want to lose you in the process!We’ll find another way. Can you trust me on this?¨ I said as I pace back and forth in our room.

Since we have Title spying on the Chivaree Clan, we just have to wait for a perfect transaction that we can infiltrate and as we take the lives of the heads, all the documents about the dirty business of that clan will be released to the Media. Everything is planned already, we just need their attention diverted to make sure that they will not find out about the plan.

And the opportunity came when they offered alliance with a condition of me marrying Eye.

¨You will not lose me, Phi. We love each other.We are doing this for the family. I feel indebted to Dad, he taught me a lot of things. This is the most that we can do for him as we wait for him to wake up.¨ Gulf said.

I love my family. Unlike any other Mafia family, mine has been warm and I feel loved. I wanted to end this as soon as possible before we hit rock bottom.

I sighed.

¨Fine. Only if you promise that you will come back to me after all these.¨ I said, looking at him in the eye.

¨Of course, Phi. I´m yours, it has been 17 years. That will never change.¨ Gulf smiled.

¨I love you so much, Love. I’ll do everything I can to finish this soon so I can go back home to you.¨ I said as I kissed him.

Gulf

I arrived at the restaurant and already saw Bright sitting on our table.

¨Mild can´t go. There was an emergency surgery that he needed to attend to. Shall we order?¨ Bright said as I sat across him.

¨It’s okay. I’m not really familiar with the menu. Can you order for me instead? Any pork or beef in the menu would do.¨ I said as he nodded.

After ordering our food, he suddenly asked me…

¨Why did you become a Doctor?¨ 

¨Because I want to be able to help someone. I want to save lives and make sure tot take care of my family’s health as well¨. I replied.

¨So.. You did it for someone else?¨ He said as the appetizers arrived.

¨uhm, I guess Yes.¨ 

¨Well, what about you?¨ He asked.

¨What do you mean?¨

¨What’s your dream?¨  Bright asked me.

¨At first, I wanted to become a Movie Director. But when I pursue Medicine, I decided that I just want to be a well-known Trauma Surgeon. That’s my dream.¨ I smiled.

¨Oh, okay. So the John Hopkins thing is true?¨ He suddenly asked.

¨What? How did you know?¨ I asked him but before he was even to reply, he stopped and looked where the entrance of the restaurant was.

I looked at where he was looking and I saw Eye and P´Mew. 

I looked back to Bright and refrained myself from looking at them.

I know that I’m the only person that P´Mew loves but it still hurts seeing him with someone else.

¨So when?¨ Bright asked.

¨When what?¨

¨When are you leaving?¨ He asked.

¨I´m not sure yet. I haven’t received an acceptance letter yet and I really think I did badly on the interview¨ I said.

He nodded and we continued with our food.

After Bright left to go back to the Hospital, I was left at the parking lot, in front of my car, looking for my keys in my pocket when I saw P´Mew approaching his car.

We looked in each other’s eyes. When I saw him crying, I felt tears fall down my face as well. 

Soon, we´ll be together again.
I love you, Phi.

I smiled at him before getting in my car and driving away.
