Rogue.

Savage.

Gerrit and I with a few other pack warriors had headed west, toward the boarder of our territory, it was thickly covered in trees and mash, it was hard to navigate but still humans liked to come here and hike, others camping, I often had a guard detail to watch them because I feared they might get lost or hurt and not have help, accidents were bound to happen it was always alright to be extra cautious.

As we got close the stench of blood became evident in the air, it was so much that Gerrit growled loudly as it also registered in his senses what so much blood meant, as we got close I could also scent out rogue, but it was fading rather quickly meaning they were either running away or they had been there a while ago, the wolves behind me slowed down as I did, torn clothes were everywhere, it was as if they had been ripped apart by an animal, ofcourse they had.

I crouched down to inspect the ground, a struggle had gone about in the area, so much foliage and grass had been stomped on, and claw marks were evident on the trees, I inspected further taking a closer look at the paw prints on the ground, it was definitely a wolf. “Dont come closer.” I ordered everyone as I went in further toward the torn pieces of clothing, closing my eyes I inhaled, taking in every scent that surrounded me, nature, humans, their food, sweat, lust, wolves, rogues, an alpha, along with five others.

The images of what had happened began to play in my head using the scents all around me. The humans had been camping, but they hadn’t informed anyone at our fake camping office which meant no one was watching them, they chose their spot here and made camp, right in between our pack border and what used to be neutral territory, Matty had extended the pack further but these wolves didn’t know, that was my assumption.

The rogues showed up along with an alpha leading them, a rogue alpha was rare to find, and a strong one at that. They attacked the couple, tore off their clothes and dragged them away from what used to be the border, it made me wonder how they couldn’t feel that they had already passed into my territory or rather they did and didn’t care. I stood up and walked further just then the full force of that metallic scent hit me, the couple was dead, mangled and broken, claw marks, fangs and torture, who could be this cruel to a defenseless couple.

I could see it happen again, when they were dragged back past the shrubs and trees line with torn clothes, the rogues took turns to rape the woman, the alpha had his way with the man, then tore his throat out when he was done, his companions then broke the man, clawed at his lover until she died from excess blood loss and her torn off arms, I could never want Matty to see this, it was too dark, too gruesome, I could see the residue of the alpha’s essence on the man, I didn’t know who he was but his death was inevitable already.

They mangled the couple then took off headed southwest, that was a roundabout to avoid getting caught, they didn’t head into the city directly they first circled, went into the city then wherever else they were camping. Blue growled loudly in my mind as I closed the eyes of the couple, I truly felt sorry for them, this was why humanity hated us at times, if they came to know what we could do, cruelty and gruesome acts like these weren’t to be praised, they would never accept us.

“Goddess of our creation, bless thy soul, may they find peace and comfort in your embrace and may their souls find rest and peace.” I prayed over the bodies, that was the least I could do, but I wouldn’t let their deaths go without justice, I would find their justice, hunters or any police couldn’t handle wolves all that much anymore since they no longer truly relied on their wolf form but both their forms, they had an advantage always, as alpha I would handle them myself, the innocent couple deserved it.

I walked back to where Gerrit and the others were. “There is a dead couple back there, make sure the bodies are handled with care, I will inform my mate of what happened, Gerrit you’ll find who their families are, and we will help them any way we can, the rest of you who will not be able to help the medic wolves, join the patrol, mark our territory yet again until every rogue in the vicinity knows the Crescent Fall Pack is right here.” I ordered the wolves in a stern tone. “Yes Alpha.” They replied, even my own beta and they took off in different directions for their given tasks.

As I walked back alone I began to think about my mate, it had been a while since he could sense danger or something amiss like that, dad always told us that ever since Matty was a baby he was special, and ever since papa placed him in the pack he could always tell when something was wrong, it was as if his senses screamed that something was wrong and every time he was right, I should’ve been more careful and heeded his first panic attack, we could’ve intervened then but there was no point in dwelling on it.

I found myself back at the training grounds, Matty was there training the wolves, he was strong and they all looked up to him, even the larger warriors asked for the right technique from him, Papa and dad had made sure this pack had unity and respect, to thrive those were the fundamentals and we had thrived immensely. “Hey kiddo.” Papa whispered behind me which startled me, he was always so silent and you could never scent him out when he doesn’t want to be found.

“Papa.” I mumbled with a sigh, we were almost the same height now but next to him I was just his child. “I heard what happened from Gerrit, came to check up on you.” He asserted with a hand on my shoulder. “Im mad, sad and I don’t know what else, why would a sane wolf do that papa, it was horrible.” I responded trying to hold myself and my wolf back. “Rogue wolves don’t value lives as we do, they don’t see the need to coexist, they want the old ways back, those stronger on top whilst all else suffer.” Papa exclaimed as he watched Matty take down another 6’5 wolf easily, we both looked at him with pride. “Thats my boy.” He mumbled with a chuckle and I turned to face him.

“The old ways are brutal and idiotic, the rogues had an alpha leading them, I will have several wolves and the police department help us search for them discreetly.” I exclaimed and he nodded in acknowledgement. “Thats what I would do, so you’re on the right track, you’re my son after all.” He responded with a chuckle, he always prided himself in calling me his son, I was proud to be his child, being a Heathen.

We looked back at Matty as he took down two opponents at once making me chuckle then remember his panic attacks. “He did it again papa, he knew something was wrong.” I relayed the information and Alvares Heathen raised his eyebrows in surprise. “He hasn’t done that in years, if Matty can sense it, that’s means this alpha is more dangerous than we think, you need to find him but also put the pack on high alert, we protect our own first, and prepare for the worst.” Papa replied and his instructions were clear.

We protect our own first, that had been drilled into all of us, as a pack, as alpha even more so. “I will get right on it.” I replied my father and waved at Matty who was now just watching the wolves train. “Papa watch that trouble maker for me.” I stated and he nodded with a chuckle just as I took off.
